    The road to Pyro will also include game play features. For example Pyro is stated to be 4 times bigger than Stanton. If Nyx is added it is 8 times bigger. There WILL be a demand for ship to ship refueling and so this mechanic will be tested. This is also an opportunity for pirates to attack which leads into the cargo refactor being testing too. Now lets not forget travel to and from system will have an active experience for players to test out this system too. As I recall the Stanton to Pyro Jump is medium sized, but what does that mean exactly? Only medium ships can fit or is it medium ships can safely traverse it and larger ships it becomes more risky? I understand that for the short term they plan on allowing any sized ship through, but I expect they need real data from players to test out ideas of just exactly how jump point travel will work. The road to Pyro is the correct focus IMO.

      I agree and am aware that there of course will be features included on “the road to pyro”, which is the exact point I’m trying to make here. The focus should be on those features, going to Pyro is just a bonus.
      I feel the wider perception of whether or not this year is successful, will be determined by if we get Pyro. We both know that’s not really the whole picture. The truth is that these features are the successes - not whether or not we get Pyro this year or next year.

    It’s worth noting that most work for pyro is just creating the planets, and other locations, and not many people have to be diverted from the gameplay. Other things required for pyro are the gameplay features and server meshing. Also pyro would add some new gameplay because it’s a lawless system, so more stuff for criminals to do. Overall though I’d do agree the focus should be on more gameplay.

      Yeah I just mean how they are marketing this year. There are a lot of cool gameplay features that are amazing, server meshing being the #1 overall. This year should be “The road to server meshing”.

    I think CIG was very clear about A) Pyro needs Server Meshing and will only come online if the first versiopn of SM is functional and B) they want Pyro to come online with more gameplay. So I think "The road to Pyro" encompasses all of those features and that is what CIG is working toward. And thus that is why Pyro acts as the overarching goal for all those features. And CIG have talk plenty about all those features as well. So I find this discussion rather strange. Its really all there and being communicated by CIG.

    everyone needs to chill on star citizen, I have been following the game for almost 7 years and still the game has another 2-3 years before release if we are lucky.

    Halting planetary tech will not accelerate gameplay in the PU.

    Marketing doesn't push what they want. They push what they have. Management prioritizes, not marketing. Tony Zurovec is a genius but he struggles to get his vision actually released. Even released in phases our dynamic events aren't really dynamic instead resorting to set times. Pyro represents another doubling of content but the tech behind it, server meshing, is crucial for the vision, performance and stability of the game. Pyro is just a side effect. But the most backer facing part.
    Every patch the marketing pushes out a trailer on what is in the game.
    They are definitely focusing on gameplay more than ever. Gameplay excites existing backers but new backers haven't been waiting for salvage tier 0 or the new cargo refactor. CIG is a business first. If they release Pyro this year it looks to be a record breaking year for them. Existing backers will check out 4.0 for Pyro and the more dormant ones will be surprised by the additional gameplay.

    Finish what they started. The PU. Fix the game then start an expansion into pyro. Fix this buggy mess. My thoughts anyway.
