One of the best premieres in a long time. It felt like the OG DWTS once again.
Yes! The past few years seemed chaotic with the constant changes. They should have just stuck with what worked. And I hope they bring Tom back.

@Miriam C Can anybody help me out!!! There is a FANTASTIC opening number I am trying to find from a previous season, but just cannot find it. All I remember was how it followed Val as a movie director in like old Hollywood. It is honestly so good but cannot find it. Does anyone know what season it was from?? Thanks

OMG it was so nice to watch this show WITHOUT adverts interupting the fun, for once!!! And I finally get to vote as a Canadian (I've been wanting this for years!) This season premiere was really great! A lot of promising contestants already.

They're still working out the kinks though. There were some awkward pauses as they switched between Alphonso and Tyra. And Tyra also didn't have a costume change, she might miss those commercials even more especially if she had to be on her feet for two hours in those heels, lol.

alfonso is such a great host. he has so much charisma and personality and he is very likable. he is much better than tyra but with him in the mix, tyra is more tolerable

at first i didnt like how so many people were giving her mean comments online. but man she just says the most outta pocket things its very uncomfortable! alfonso reminds me what a difference a good host makes
I think having him as the primary interviewer was a good move. Tyra tended to flub her lines often in her first couple seasons. Alphonso wasn't perfect tonight either but I suspect he will get better.
I wish they had made the show available outside the US.
I have Disney+ and was very excited to see this. But I’m not in the US. Imagine my disappointment when I couldn’t find it the night of… or on VOD thereafter.

Me too, I'm in Brazil. I don't know if they'll make the show available internationally... I think they stopped caring about international fans a long time ago... Bu I got a VPN unblocker and was able to watch that way... But the quality of the image on the site wasn't great...
Yes, I agree that I wish that it was available outside of the US, because even though I have Disney+ I can't watch because I live outside of the US.

I think it's excellent that they put Alfonso as the host and not just present Tyra, although honestly I still miss Tom and Erin. It's wonderful to see the set with an audience again 😍💜💟
+Mal Alfonso was a guest judge who took Bruno's place here in the uk until 2019. Anton du Beke has took brunos place as judge now

Wow...this is all you are putting out? Usually after every dance a video went up. How sad that Disney is so greedy they won't even share the dances on here. People have been watching this shows for many many years, and that has been taken away for so many people.

not only that but all the other old dances have been removed. There is just no way to even watch them anymore because they aren't even on Disney+ even if I did have that trash.

If advertising doesn’t pay anything then they get removed from regular network outlets. The good things is that it’s a low cost show in comparison to some shows with a large fan base so it can do well on their steaming channel.
@@kennadi5319 Disney owns ABC. It was strictly a business decision for them and all about profit. Most of the fan base can afford the streaming channels so when advertising revenue drops they bring in something new and switch a tried and true show with a big following over to the streaming channel. It’s a win win for them.

Well, I had Hulu, and I got a deal two months ago to add Disney+ for $2. Yes, maybe not everybody got that deal, and it's certainly not a price point that is going to last. But honestly, if you like DWTS, then churn some of your other streaming subscriptions so you can put on Disney+ and watch this.
Honestly, this move was purely to promote Disney+ and not anything else, they are a true competitor for Netflix now. And in ten or twenty years, maybe less, I think cable TV itself will be a thing of the past.
I've watched this show since season 1 but I can't even describe how disappointed I am that I won't be able to watch this season because it changed from ABC to DisneyPlus.
I missed these kinds of opening numbers so much!!! Brings the old spirit of dwts back. And somehow Tyra isn't as unbearable this time around!

Shame on you Disney. By placing this show on your streaming services only, you have ensured that a large segment, aka senior citizens on a fixed income, will be unable to enjoy this show.
I am sure there are a lot people, like my parents, who enjoyed this every season as their evening entertainment. My parents could not understand why they are unable to watch the show. And to make matters worse, they watched GMA the next morning just to catch glimpses of a show they are unable to afford to see.
Disney, you have to do better. This was a show that came on for many seasons. To pull the rug out from a segment of the population who cannot afford to add a streaming service is reprehensible. Disney always represented family, family values. In my opinion, it looks like Disney only represents money.
If this was new programming, I would not have a problem. However, as I stated, this show has been on many seasons and has a large fan base. Surely it would not hurt your bottom line to place this show back on the regular tv lineup. If you missed the live show, then you would have to go to the streaming service to watch the repeat.
You have to do better, Disney.
I wish I was able to see it on Disney+ Italy.. At least the other years I could watch the dances on TH-cam, now I will not be able to do it either... So sad!!

Sadly after being a loyal fan since season 1 you have gone with Disney+ that I cannot afford. I guess loyalty means nothing. Hope you have a great season and you will be missed by those of us who are not affluent.
So, I don’t know your circumstances. But there are a lot of people who are not affluent and they can afford $8 a month for Disney+
Imagine how much people spend on take-out, it’s usually a lot more than $8🤷♀️

It’s not going to last though, Disney+ has an ad version they’re introducing soon. The ad version will be the current subscription cost, and if you want no ads you’ll have to pay more

I have Disney+ in the uk, and being a big fan of Stricly Come Dancing, I was so excited to see that DWTS was on Dis+, but I was really disappointed to find out that we can't get it over here. Come on Disney pull your finger out and let us over here enjoy DWTS as well.

A bit sad that this isn't showing on Disney+ in the UK, so I am unable to watch it and really love this show
+Claire Cuthbert why would you watch the American Dancing With The Stars when here in the UK we have the original strictly come dancing. The only pro dancers I've heard of on the USA version are Artem Gleb (because they've been on the UK version) and Mark because his mum Shirley is the head judge in the UK and she mentions him in her book behind the sequins
I'm just wondering if anyone else had the same issues I did. I know I didn't start watching right when it was supposed to start, if it was indeed 8pm eastern. But Disney+ wouldn't even let me watch it mid stream. I had to wait at least I think when it was over to just watch the whole thing like a regular streaming show.
I don't know if it only happened to me or if it happened to other people. Are these issues they're going to encounter moving from TV to steaming. But bottom line is, if you can't start watching it while it's still live after it started streaming, how are you going to vote? Personally I don't think eliminations should have happened on the first night especially since this is a new format they're using. I miss the times when you got a whole week to cast your vote.
It worked for me mid stream. It kept buffering a lot so I had to keep closing it. It’s Disney plus first live show, isn’t it? I’m sure they’ll figure out the kinks

@@nataliajimenez1870 where I live (for work) there's not signal, and the VPN isn't available/works without signal. Also I tried before and VPN wasn't working on various streaming. They show maybe the catalog but not working when you press play
I wish we would be able to watch the dances from the season on here, cause I like to look back at my favorite dances from each season. This isn't fair that I won't be able to re-watch the dances anymore. Like, I want to re-watch Daniel and Britt's Tango & Gabby and Val's Jive right now.

When I first heard Shangela was on the show and that Louis Van Amstel was back, as the only openly gay cast member I wondered if they would pair her with him. But I absolutely love Gleb and how they showed him dancing with Shangela out of drag. This is a big first for the American version of DWTS.

I was wondering the same thing? When the show was on ABC you could watch every single performance just by searching for it on TH-cam. I think it was to encourage fans to tune in live or in my case remind me that the show started when I began getting TH-cam notifications. This is the only video I've seen uploaded all night, they could have already put several more up unless they don't plan to.
We may have to look out for fan uploads of the various dances.
I was going to skip this season but I'm glad I didn't. The cast is great. Even though I don't agree with professional dancers being thrown with beginners everyone looks like they're enjoying themselves. Hoping the high level continues

Alfonso makes the best host, I love his partnership with Witney, he can host this on his own because he is such a natural and likeable guy, hes passionate about the show and is such a great dancer himself. Tyra is disliked & she is not needed
