I was just planning on trying to remove my gate on my new trailer. I saw Northern tool sells replacement hinges @ 25.00 each to weld on. You just saved me 50 bucks. I have the 5.5 x 10 and the gate is weight I don't need. I'll use my aluminum ramps. Thanks Zach. I like the way your brain works.
Need to make it like your dad's small trailer! The one he hauls the 4 wheeler with. Hope all is well in mn with the family! Take care and I look forward to next video!
You could make a “short” gate that is the same height as the sides. You can swap it with the tall gate when hauling a riding mower, any other time, leave the short one on. It would cut down on weight and help with gas mileage by not catching as much air as a the tall one.
Great work Zach!! I need to find one of those hinges to replace on my trailer like yours. I had one break. I didn’t know about the grease fits until it was to late and one broke. I was going to drill the solid one out, and drill out the grease fitting in and just put a bolt in. But I would like to find the replacement hinge. I could grind the old one off and weld the new one on. On those brackets, I guess you could swap them and put them on to where the gate would of cleared? The pole looked to be long enough to do that. Just a thought. Thanks for sharing. Juddie - J & J TOA
@@exploringlife3389 thanks Zach! Around hear we hardly have any scrap yards anymore. But I will try and look. When my brother in law used it was he backed into something and bent the tongue of the trailer and the gate. I found a site that sold trailer parts and got a new tongue and ball hitch, and the gate latching pin setup, but I checked the site again and can’t find the hinge on that site. I will have to continue looking. Thanks again. Juddie - J & J TOA
Awesomeness!! That's what I like about you, always thinking of ways to improve your stuff!! Love the goober weld!! There now you made it re-moveable ,but you are right you will need some kind of spacer!! Stay safe my friend's.🤓👍🤓👍 Randy.

You might find a hinge at you local scrap yard/ new steel distribution company, they have a lot of trailer supplies inside.

Thanks Randy
Looks good and it beats paying five or six hundred dollars for a boat trailer
Good to hear from you. Take care.
I bet a short bungee cord from the gate to the side rail post would have enough strength to keep the gate tight to the left side.
Zach, you're like your dad. The only slightly used thing is your couch.
They do have lots of energy don't they.
Maybe a rubber washer will fill the gaps?
