Flip 3 has low bass. Flip 4 is way better !! Trust me ! I tested those 2 with a bass test and the flip 3 barely makes bass while the flip 4 is putting real BASS.
One other smallish change is that Flip 4 has been designed to be stable when sitting on its side. Subtle, but good I think. My Flip 4 is being delivered today!
Did you also experience the 1st dot of the battery lasts long then after that the remaining 4 drains faster?. Also, when I charge my flip 4 the first 4 dots charges faster like it will only take less than an hour or an hour let say. Then the last 5th dot charges like over an hour. Is this normal? I just bought this yesterday.

But if you have a more developed ear for sound, and can notice if an mp3 is 128 or 193 or higer,...go for flip 4 .. flip 4has a better base. It's a perfect speaker for me. I live in a flat and its perfectfor these situations

What is the range of the flip 4!!!!??? There are so many of these videos showcasing and reviewing the speakers but there is no information of how far away you can be from the speaker before losing connection and if you can be in another room and still have the music playing!!!! I have an issue with mine that 8-10 ft away it starts cutting out and if I put a wall between my speaker and the device it completely cuts out!!!!! My Extreme model 1 doesn’t do this and I can be quite far from it and rooms between it and it won’t cut out!!! At first I thought it was because I have an iPhone 6 Plus and it’s old but I tested it with my brother’s iPhone XR and it does the same!!!!! I NEED HELP AND ANSWERS!!!!!!! 😭😭😭😭😰
Flip 4 is running Bluetooth 4.2 which is rated for no less than 33ft. I think your speaker is having some kind of issue if it's that bad, but I have no idea what the issue is.

@@jcmolero71 I'm guessing it's only a higher octave , I also have Flip 3 but Stealth edition which is advertised as a 80hz - 20khz freq range but it reaches down to 70hz from what I've thought before but When I bought the Xtreme 2 which is advertised as 55hz .. from there I can only say that the 70hz from the Flip 3 seems fake and also not even audible when listening to normal music.

Short answer to "should you upgrade?" - Only if you want slightly lower frequency response, an extra 2 hour battery life and full waterproof-ness.

Flip 3 has low bass. Flip 4 is way better !! Trust me ! I tested those 2 with a bass test and the flip 3 barely makes bass while the flip 4 is putting real BASS.

+Martin Claudio Cota the speaker has a mic which it uses for hands free calling. But I can't guarantee that the echo dot will utilize it mic at all.
got flip 4 for 59 and sold flip 3 for 30 so it was 29 upgrade

My flip essential does a solid 70hz and a weaker 65hz as the flip 4, and it’s advertised to 80hz minimum, how come?
Passive radiator is only tuned to go down to 80hz.

You can remove the battery alot easier and also the battery can be replaced with an extended life battery.
