No problem. It's still the pinnacle era of IndyCar racing if you ask me. To this day those are some of the best looking race cars of all time. Appreciate you watching 👍
Great to see this kind of content centered around Indycar. Not many TH-cam channels cover motorsport history outside of F1/NASCAR, so videos like this are great to know more about Indycar as I haven't been following for that many years. Great job!
So jealous you're watching it live. I went to almost every Surfers Paradise indy from the age of 4 onwards back in the 90's/00's; looked forward to it more than Christmas! Had some wild side attractions too. We'd get the grandstand on the first corner, never disappointed. Keep up the nostalgia trip mate!
@@Demise90Racing Would love to see a return, but it would be a bit tricky as the track has been significantly shortened by a tram line that cuts across the old Southern section. They'd have to expand it northwards.
This was one of the rare glorious years that they did not install stands in turn 3, and it was general admission. As a broke 17 year old with a GA ticket at the time, 2001's Turn 3 exploits were a great 'bang-for-buck'!
Hell yeah. When I was a kid my dad worked for Molson so he got some great deals on tickets. They were always in turn 9, but during practice I begged him to go down to turn 3 right before they hit the brakes so I can see what 190 MPH looks like.
Parker Johnstone. The king of one liners. His ...well, Paul, prompted by Takagi doing Takagi things at Turn 3 is just so full of disapointment, really. Parker and Paul had fantastic chemistry, that whole crew did
Something else to remember is that at this time the IRL might have had use of the term IndyCar, CART retained user of the term Indy when going outside of the US. That's why we're well into the spilt and this race is still the Molson Indy.
I was at this race. LOVED this era of CART/Indycar, whatever you weant to call it. The race itself was also such a great event. There was so much to do and see. The modern TO Indy is a shadow of its former self. The new pit lane is horrible.
Turn 2 and 3 at Toronto is where all the fun happens. I'm not crazy about this year's race being only on Peacock, but when the schedule was made, there was a 50/50 chance of getting cancelled like the last 2 years.
Yeah absolutely. That is definitely the main reason why it's on Peacock. I live in Toronto, and the way are bozo government handled Covid was ridiculous.
@@Demise90Racing Oh, agreed. Still, he won a bunch of races.. except for the big one, he always seemed to have bad luck there. And I bet he would have traded a bunch of his wins for just one at Indy. At least he's gotten a few as an owner there. (then again, the cars of today are much more reliable)
Yeah absolutely. 2002 wasn't bad, but after that it went downhill. It took a long time to get back to where open wheel racing used to be. We aren't there yet, but the IndyCar series is the best it's been since 2001.
The two points I'd argue is either 2012 with the DW12 chassis or 2018 when they went to the Universal Aero Kit. While we had a nice fight between Will Power and Dario Franchitti, the Dallara IR02/08 was every bit of a crapwagon Paul Tracy called it. The car loved to fly a lot more than a formula car ever should and the only exciting racing was in packs on an oval where cars were inches from each other and couldn't pass.
Thanks for the CART content man! My favorite series and late 90s/early 00s was the best era

I loved CART racing that was the best motor sport, real men in real race cars. You make the best CART and champ car videos. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for checking them out. I really appreciate it 👍
Love these videos - a perfect mix of narrative and original audio!
Thank you very much. Appreciate it 👍

Those cars are so gorgeous

Scott Dixon was in 2 accidents and finished 5th for the walking dead PacWest team
Dixon is inevitable...Before anyone even knew it lol
This was the Indy gods giving Michael one back of the many they owed him .
In Terms of the Cars. There was Nothing better. Best Sounding Engines!

These were some great racing days, the cars were FAST and they were not that safe.

These cars were great to watch, they look like a bit of fun too the way they slide around! Any of course the great drivers of that era!!
I had to laugh after Tracey’s shunt. When it went back to green, all those events and it was only lap 9!!! 😆
I was at this race, right at the front at turn 3. It was an amazing day.
What's your favorite Molson Indy memory?
Favorite...Zanardi diving inside Andretti to take the lead in the closing laps. 1998?
My favorite moments is Michael Andretti got 7th in a row in the winning of Indy Toronto for checkerd flag after contact in turn 3 ever.

The Canadian crowd jewel 💎 is back this weekend
Hell yeah I'm excited!!
Incredible as always! Dude u deserve 10 thousand subs. I'm gonna tell people about u !! 20/10 !!
Thank you very much. I really appreciate that. I'm trying to get better with each video. You made my day with this comment 😀
Love your videos dude!

Micheal won again... and I'm sure he would have traded 4 of those Toronto victories for even 1 Indy 500 win...
Yeah I was referring to his final Toronto Win. Sorry I wasn't clear on that. He won Long Beach in 02.

It is kind of amazing how good Michael Andretti was in Cart considering how bad he was in F1. Villeneuve and Montoya did so much better in F1.
Wow a driver crashing early on in a street race and then going on to win the race surely that will never happen again :)
My first thought watching this was the music city gp when Ericson went airborne!
The amount of mayhem Tora Takagi caused in CART is incredible
This was the last good year of CART, and american open wheelers until probably last year or 2020
Also Jon Beekhuis and Parker Johnstone were great at their jobs, not to mention Paul Page

Imo I feel like the lack of people in stands would be immediately fixed if they had engines that sounded like this agaij
Hell yeah. In my opinion some of the best looking and sounding race cars of all time.
Love the content bro
Thank you. Much appreciated 👍
Who the heck is responsible for them making Indy Cars so butt ugly around 2010????
Great sounding flat crank V8's.
TORA TAKAGI THE 3 TIME
I generally don't watch the History channel.
Sounds like when Marcus Ericsson won Nashville last year
Don't race online with me or I will use you as my Girlfriend into every corner :)
