Thanks for your valuable materials...I am confused for Q1..why to evaluate the project management plan since the pmo director decided to cancel the project.? ..

@jawdat elnimer, Really glad that you're finding the videos helpful! Similar to when a project is closed, the project management plan will outline what specific steps to take, to ensure there is alignment between what the team has agreed upon, as well as leadership/management's expectations. For the specific question, choice A is the best answer since this is the very FIRST thing that you would do. The Project Management Plan will outline the team's agreed upon strategy with leadership the steps to take if a project needs to be terminated early or cancelled. When I was taking my own PMP Exam, I sometimes encountered tricky questions, but I focused on which answer made the most sense. Hope this helps!

I really thought the answer was B. Like, you’d want to see how much damage canceling the project is going to do before anything else. No…?

@@alvinthepmofficial I find that the content in the question stem does not mention the project phase, so there is no basis to confirm that the Project Management Plan has been established. If the project is in the planning phase, then option A seems less accurate than B, doesn’t it?

Hi Alvin. I don't know how to thank you for all the materials you are posting both on TH-cam and your website. THANK YOU, you rock!!
I have a question that I hope you can answer. Is it me or there are 2 different/contradict info in PMBOK about which one comes first, Project Charter or Identify Stakeholders!
"To increase the chances of success, the process of stakeholder identification
and engagement should commence as soon as possible AFTER the project charter has been approved" P: 504.
Then "This process frequently occurs for the first time in a project either PRIOR to or at the same time the
project charter is developed and approved" P: 508
Would you please shed some light on this? Thank you again :)

@Peace Seeker, I'm really glad that all of my resources have been helping you out! When i read the PMBOK Guide, I definitely thought there was some contradictory information. The way I like to think of the sequencing is that "usually" the Project Charter is created first by the Project Sponsor. In real-life, this could be an Engineering Director, Senior Leadership, or a Manager, for example. And then, you're pulled in as the official Project Manager and given the official "go-ahead" to start working with the team to identify stakeholders who will be working on the project. This dependency of the Project Charter being created first, followed by the 'Identify Stakeholders' process is implied by the PMBOK Guide, since the Project Charter is listed as an input to the 'Identify Stakeholders' process on pg. 507.
If you see a question on your exam testing your sequence of these processes during the Initiation Phase of a project, I would recommend following the sequence of: Develop Project Charter > Identify Stakeholders. If you're in the Planning or Execution Phase, then 'Identify Stakeholders could happen during any of those stages, since new stakeholders could join your project at any given moment. For example, in real life, one of your team members may leave the organization, and a Manager may assign a new team member to join your project. I hope this helps clarify things!

@@alvinthepmofficial Of course that makes total sense. I kinda had a feeling since Project Charter is an input to Identify Stakeholders it can't be second in sequence. Thank you so very much!!!
I have a second question if you don't mind. When creating/finding the critical path, PMBOK takes the EF of Activity A, adds one, lists the EF + 1 as an ES for the next activity. However, most of the videos on TH-cam teach that you don't add the "1" to the EF. I mean at the end when you add the "1" to all the activities you will end up with the correct critical method. So both methods will show the same critical method anyway; I might be overthinking this but which one you think is the right way to make/find the critical path? :)

@@peacemaker5920 Either approach works well, I would suggest using the method which is the easiest for you. Keep in mind though, that on your CAPM Exam, you likely won't see a question asking you to go in this much detail. Instead, you'll probably see a question similar to the one I review in this video: th-cam.com/video/7XZGeSUJGGs/w-d-xo.html
