  • The Giants Win the World Series! Calls from KNBR 680 - San Francisco Bay Area Radio Network. Some of the footage had to be left out for copyright reasons unfortunately, which sucks because this world series had some amazing defensive plays, great pitching performances, and key hits.

      That was a very heart breaking series for Detroit. Im a White Sox fan, but the Tigers took the division from us in the last week of the season, then were down to the A's and came back and then swept the yankees. During the world series Leland told the media several times how it was frustrating to have his team not hit and not pitch, everything was falling apart. He congratulated Bruce bochy after the game.

    I'm very happy the Giants won. I'm a White Sox fan and the Sox were going in the direction of a division win. They were cruising until September 19-30, when they lost 10 of those 12 games, and went on a 5 game losing streak to teams they should be beating. Tigers took the division at the very last minute. Detroit definitely owes one to the White Sox for that pennant win that year.

    There's actually a back story to why Romo threw the fastball. During batting practice before game 1 Miguel Cabrera walked past the Giants dugout and said to Romo, "I'm looking for that slider." He was just joking around with Romo, but at the same time he was serious. Romo actually shook off the slider call from Posey on the 2-2 count knowing that Cabrera, with just about everyone else, thought that Romo would throw his signature pitch. Instead the result was a fastball that locked up Cabrera

    • @shepardbook
      @shepardbook 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      In fact, if you remember Kruk was saying that Cabrera was still looking for that slider. 😀. Can’t believe he was looking for a pitch with two strikes. But, I will not complain that he took, what has to be, the ULTIMATE Walk Of Shame.

    Baseball is an extremely tough sport, I played into college. Calculating an average speed of 95 mile per hour fastball, the batter has exactly 0.434 seconds to decide to swing or not, and even if he does swing, the chances of him getting a hit are still minimal. Even the best players in professional baseball swing and miss A LOT. That being said, even though he struck out, Miguel Cabrera is arguably the best baseball player through the last 10 years, and I'm saying that as a Giants fan.

    The only point I'm trying to make is that, as fans of the game, we have to understand that even the greatest of players fail about 7 times out of 10. That's the beauty of baseball, it's a lot like life. What makes great players/people great is their ability to put those 7 times behind them mentally and make those 3 out of 10 really count.

  • @Pandabearmadness
    @Pandabearmadness 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    my thoughts on the series at the time in the moment game to game after the giants went down 0-2 against the reds I lost all hope and didn't think they would win 3/in a row. after that series i realized how gritty that team was and knew they would go down swinging pence had a horrible reds series but imo was the mvp of the series he rallied that team to victory.even down against the cards I still knew that they weren't going to lose and from that 3-1 start on the road Barry zito facing the cards just dismantled them, he made holiday look so bad on some swings and got out of 2 bases loaded situations with out giving up runs. after that win the giants never looked back. I knew without a doubt facing the tigers that we were going to stream roll them. to me this was the greatest giants team out of the 3 different years they won the ws. for me it's hard though it's like picking who is your favorite kid

    I'm not a Detroit Fan, but when Leyland is shown getting up and walking out in defeat, it kind of makes me feel bad. He has such a crushed look on his face.

    Yeah, as you can tell by my profile picture, I'm an Angels fan. It's been that way for a long time. I must say I've gotten disappointed at them these last couple of years. But it doesn't mean I'm going to diss them for another team that wins all the time. The Cubs have really good fans. I know what it's like to be disappointed at my team but I'm still a loyal fan. You can't teach that. Thanks for the comment

    It's painful watching this is a Tigers fan but the Giants were unbelievable that series. Deserving is an understatement.

    Cabrera knows that Romo already baited him on a slider out of the zone and he made contact with it, so he probably won't come with it again. Romo knows this, and fools him on a 2-seamer that starts on the outside corner. Cabrera absolutely thought that was going to be another slider that would end up out of the zone, and didn't have enough time to react by the time he realized. Brilliant strategy that simply fooled Cabrera. That's what makes hitting so hard.

    why did people bash Carlos Beltran for the final strike of the 2006 NLCS but not Miguel Cabrera (a much more famous player) for this moment after his triple crown?
