U specified that the "building blocks, advantages and applications" were based on DB but the disadvantage u specified were abased on DBMS. Are there no disadvantages for the DB? Why the difference? Actually there is no disadvantages of storing the data in databases instead of files like json, csv or xml. It is just the management software that creates the overhead. Even the disadvantages of storing in a file doesn't come from the file, but the file system doesn't provide the means of better storage or access of the data by itself.
