Really enjoyed watching Rocky get tuned up over the course of the hunt! That debate about the hen mallards was really interesting too. Seems like it's one of those things like water swatting. If someone grew up not doing it, they're pretty dead set against it for life
Patterning that gun the Muller way definitely paid off. You crushed them when you were on them. The hen on the water was good too it just proved everything hewas taking about as well. Can’t wait to see more this year. Are you going to do your A5?
Just got my pup a week ago and I watched all your dog training videos. Your a big reason I decided to get a black lab and train her for duck hunting. Glad to see your season started!!
Let’s go! I love your videos and always look forward to you posting! I always like how you have explained everything you are doing and how you take value the life that you take
Get some wigeon, spoonie, and teal decoys to start. If I was starting out and did not know anyone I could hunt with I would go to a refuge and try to make some friends. It helps to have someone that can show you the ropes. Be honest and tell them you are looking to learn and get into the sport. Biggest piece of advice I would give you is you can read and watch videos all day and doing both of those things helps and can make you a better hunter. What will make a huge difference however is going as many times a season as you can. Stick to a refuge for your first few years and learn it. Start to branch out after you get some confidence. Don't get discouraged either. When I first started out hunting CA I did it by myself and barley shot any birds for two seasons. Enjoy the experience.
Only takes one drake to mate with a hen and have 3-8 ducklings, let's say the daily bag limit allowed you to harvest more than two hen mallards it would kill of our population of mallards witin a decade at the majority of our sloughs, lake res, ect. Here is a example say a drake mallards was hanging around 3 hens during mating season he most likely got 2 out of the 3 pregnant. without hens the population would go down quickly
When it comes it hens it shouldnt be a issue if you shoot them its not a big deal nor will tje population in mallards when i comes to mallards ,but i do think when it comes to sprig teres definitely a larger ratio of drakes to hen and if they to bring the limit i would not shoot a hen sprig .
It’s so cool to see how Rocky has improved over this season from opening day. I guess even the dogs get rusty in the off season!
Bout time I’ve been waiting on this video forever haha. Hell yeah get ‘em all.
Haha 😂
Brother. I gotta show love to my fellow Cali boys and fellow Vet. Hoping one of these days I can link up with y’all.

Love it
My Rocky I have 3 labs
What’s gonna happen when we shot all the drake mallards and then have no drakes for the ratio to hens.. that’s why they give us 2 in a bag limit!
