Hi Thanks, I would definitely advise the bebop 1 first as you can get hold of them really cheap especially on ebay. Then you can learn the ropes without risking losing allot of money. I use a xiaomi wifi extender and have had it to about 400 meters with no issue. The drone comes with return to home so if you lose connection it will return to take off location.
Hi not really connection problems so much but I think depending on where you are located when you fly (built up area) vs the countryside I have found without the extender I get around 200 mtrs and one disconnect. I didnt want to push it further than that until I got the extender. That is one of the limitations of the Bebop unless you buy the sky controller the range is limited as it uses WIFI
