Audio books
I read along in my Bible. Mine is a New Living Translation. Why, are the words not matching? I'm curious.
Dee Hill I’m not entirely sure, but I know the NLT is on the dynamic equivalent end of the translation spectrum, which means it is not a word for word translation like the ESV but more of a thought for thought translation that offers the intended meaning of a passage. It could be that you are reading from an older or newer publication of the NLT than that of the video, and changes have been made to better summarize a particular thought.
You explain these possible differences quite logically,..thank you... my friend..

Hi Dee,
The version of the NLT that is being read is the First Edition. I know this because I own both the First & Second Editions, and the narrator's words match up completely with my First Edition. I like the First Edition's translation of the Proverbs. 😃
It’s funny how Jesus who is himself the word of God only uses scripture to fight the temptation of Satan.
And here we are saying that scripture isn’t enough. Jesus definitely didn’t think so.
Even David knew God word was all he needs. Psalms 119:105 “Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.“
And let’s not forget about Joshua 1:8 ”Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.“
