- This was my very first time taking a look at the planes and the new sport bike in Scum and and I was not disappointed!

I'm a pilot and an engineer if it matters. But the reason it doesn't have an engine cowl is because we thought it cooled the engine better but quickly realized in the 30's that having a cowl on the engine HELPS cool the back and top of the cylinders.

Once they get moduler vehicles in the game it would be fantastic if they added pontoons for landing the planes in water.
Fooster, the engine is exposed because it's an air cooled, radial engine. The air is used in place of a radiator to cool the engine. If the cowlings were on it, the engine would overheat. Love the videos man!

Would be cool if they made the plane break apart depending where the damage is, like if you clip a wing and it rips off, or bullet hole when it gets shot, also engine failures mid air, stuff like that.
That would be dope af, add more of a “fly at your own risk” type element just like everything else in scum it would make sense

That is also the same bike that is in Mad Max the first one it's a Kawasaki z1000 that goose drove also that shotgun I had one blow up in my hand and that lever went all the way through my thumb and index finger love your content

Those are air cooled radial engines those were used way back in ww1 and robust and didn't need a water cooling system that kept one less item from being shot at usually. Now with all these upgrades im sure any bandits or others will be really defending their stuff for sure. Hope this series gets really in depth can't wait to see what happensn
They could add a forklift so you could move heavy loads in general. Like you could move crates and boxes with stuff still in them and such like that. That would be sick. Edit: they definitely need to add saddles and horse armor for sure. Horses have been in the game for awhile from what I've seen and theres nothing you can do with them except kill for food. And legit taming other animals like the wolves. But with the wolves it'd be best to like find a puppy or something like that. Like find a den and hope there's pups inside.
I agree with "No Hard Feelins" guy.. Putting pontoons or having the ability to do so would be amazing addition to be able to land on the water... when I first heard about the planes and especially when I heard they were bi-winged, I mentioned it to Feudal to tell the DEV's about the pontoons.. so, depending on others comments about adding it may help make up their minds and do so.. but we'll see.. another thing I mentioned (on discord) there needs to be ambient noise meter that encircles the noise meter the character makes. That way you can make some noise but as long as the ambient is louder than you, you won't be heard ie thunderstorms, rain, wind etc.. covert kills, like a sneaking maneuver from behind and knife or choke a puppet (or whomever) AND... akimbo.. it's a must.. lol.. duel pistol drawn and firing at the same time.. ok.. I can do without that one.. lol.. I've been finding your machete everywhere!!.. lol... trash bins, mainly.. but they sell for around $377.. NICE.. lol... Get Taco and Fisk with you and do SCUM together.. ASAP.. lol.. CHEERS!!!

4:30 The crop duster has exposed cylinders for better cooling. Similar to a Harley's air cooled engine. The other red plain has a cowling for better aerodynamics, I assume it would be a faster plane than the crop duster....

Those planes are absolutely awesome to fly. They look kewl in the sky's too. It would be great if you Can you use the parachute after you have landed safely. or if you find another one. I look forward in playing again will all you'll, Fooster keep those vid's coming.
You can find parachute as backpack in the world and use it in the plane.
very excited ! also WOW this update is awesome. im really starting to see their vision more, and the potential final product a few years down the line. it'd be so dope with helicopters, more wild life and predatory animals, alligators as you said, maybe even wild cats and dogs in the cities. would be SO awesome. i bought this game a while back still havent given it a good play through but 100% going to in a few months or a year or two. wanting to let it get topped up/finishing touches/features etc first
edit: they need to make the puppets try to climb on these planes and you could take off with a bunch of them on the wings LOL. would be cool if they did it to cars too, and touching on the cats/dogs thing it'd be cool if you saw a puppet killing animals and eating them
NACA (and similar) cowlings are shaped and baffled to improve airflow across the cylinders and to harness the heated air to reduce drag. I think damaging them can actually aggravate the problems they are designed to mitigate. So, I think it makes sense that a work plane might dispense with it. Or, the cylinders just look cool.
It's just a matter of the age of the planes and the advancement of our knowledge even over 10 years between them. Initially the early planes had no cowling because of cooling but then they leaned it would actually help with cooling the entire engine by directing the air flow over the entire engine.
I mean look at the leap in air planes from WW1 to WW2... In WW1 we had what we see in game (they flew but not well and had lots of heat issues initially) but by the end of WW2 we literally had the first jets being developed.
Crop dusters fly low to the ground so they need as much visibility as possible but, it also helps with air flow because when flying planes the air closer to the ground is “thicker/heavier”.
I have done a bit of off roading with the sports bike. They do NOT take damage from being off-road. Only from running into things. Only issue I have had is that it glitches if you park it on uneven terrain, forcing you to push it around until you can climb on and drive it again.
I successfully landed on the lighthouse island in NE corner of Z4.
--Just a quick tip , if you want the plane to stop when you land, try and exit the plane as soon as you touch down and the plane will stop on a dime lol.
OMG this is all awesome! Fooster has on his fancy clothes, a sweet bike, and a flies like the Red Barron himself!
The amount of time the fuel lasts really makes this all the more fun.

So i played scum a couple of days ago for the first time in ages, picked up a machete called foosters machete. Then I was like wait, fooster fooster? Then inspected the weapon and saw an engraving of foosters F logo. Man i was elated hahaha the fooster machete is strong and swings fast. Good job making it into the game man.
Strapping the machine guns to the wings is a very cool detail.
Dogfight wars for loot would be epic!
I'm a lst for an airport and currently going for my airframe and PowerPoint mechanic. The reason the engine block is open is either two reasons one they used to think that it would cool the engine better. Second it could have been removed as a means to put after market better parts. The fact that it looks like a crop duster makes me belive they just removed it to give some style difrence and most really old aircrafts sometimes dont have the cover especially in the case of farm work since the look doesnt matter to them. The Frame could be to small so they just fly without it till or if they want to get a costume made one.
Both planes are radial engines, so air cooled. Being an older model, one might simply have no cowling over it while the other does. Also, being a stripped down crop duster, it would make sense since many shed weight (non-essential) to get more chemical on board or make it more maneuverable in the air (“barn storming”). The other looks to be a newer (post-1925) model, meaning a bit more streamline. And you were rolling backwards because you were on a slight slope, and gravity works, lol. Biplanes have twice the lift as they have more lifting surface but it also means more drag so lower speed vs a monoplane, which means they can fly very slow in comparison and turn in a dime. I prefer to fly in first person, less motion sick for me, and I can see where I’m shooting (I rarely miss).
Crop dusters are slower and don’t need the cowling as much as a faster plane. The also accumulate many hours and require frequent maintenance so no cowling is a benefit. I worked with an A&P AI who worked on these type of aircraft.
I was screaming “THROTTLE UP THROTTLE UP GUUUUY!!!!!!!” And I was bobbing and weaving my head with everything you just barely missed/and or scraped!
My favorite part was how confident you were about your flying abilities just to literally wreck and die like 15 times in a row as if you’ve never payed a flying a game before ALL JUST BECAUSE you actually attempted to fly these like it was a real plane in the real world because you know how to fly I’m assuming and it flew like a damn video games and not a real plane like you thought. Lok
to awnser your question at 04:32 it's because it needs to get as much air as possible on the surface of the engine to keep it cooled

The reason the engines look different… the cover around it is called cowling, and they will have calf flaps in order to keep the engine warm at higher altitudes. The crop duster does not have cowling because it does not go to higher altitudes.🤓

I wish the developers would add either the Italian C.R. 42 biplane, its have dual Italian 12.7 Breda-Safat heavy machine gun, its were regarded as the best biplane of WW2, or the German Messerschmitt Bf-109 K-4, the Bf were the most mass produced fighter aircraft of all time, its armament is depending on the variant, the K-4 have 1 30mm MK108 autocannon and 2 13.2mm MG131 heavy machine gun, all in the nose part of the plane so aiming with them would be a cakewalk, also the K-4 is the most advanced Bf-109 variant

Hey Fooster your Question about How the plains looked the Red on was based either from France or germany but the front cover was armer the plains were water cooled and air traveling around 100 - 200 knots but 1 bullet could burst the coils of course armer = heavier they were maid from wood and some fabric material and metal as the plains got older
Seeing the map from the skies makes me appreciate how beautiful it is

The machine gun on these old planes was connected to a mechanical system, to prevent them from firing when the prop was in front of the barrel to keep the prop from being shot off. The way these planes are set up I would not want to pull the trigger. lol

I actually asked tomislav on twitter about helicopters a while ago, and he did say they are planned to come shortly after planes!
Ik scum has its differences but seeing u fly around reminds me of playing the arma2 dayz mods flying plans and helicopters I would always mess with my friends when I was piloting the helicopter and doing back flips and front flips. But the games just looks so amazing when you get up into the sky

You would damage the propeller blades by just attaching machineguns to side of the fuselage like that. If you're going to fire through it like that they must be synced with the propeller.
You need sea floats. Just hink how nice it would be to land in the water if needed. Oh, even snow skis!

I thing i wish is that they made the world double the size. I have this weird obessions with extremely MASSIVE worlds. I mean its already huge but i woudl love for it to be double. Especialy with planes now
its cool and all, but please explain to me! the idea of scum were you were prisoners stuck on an island surving for sport?
then how do that work with airplanes? you could just fly away and like that. the same with the traders? makes sense if or when its other players but now its npc's? makes roleplaying like before, making a trading outpost abit dull?
It's the carbaraters on the front of the plane. I'm guessing they did it for the look and air flow.
