Anyone old enough to remember the guest Mel Waters, “Mel’s Hole” on Coast to Coast AM/ Art Bell? In 1997 “a listener from rural eastern Washington who describes a hole used for decades on his property to dispose of trash such as building supplies, dead cows, furniture, you name it. He noticed that the hole never filled up. He started using fishing line to try to measure its depth, and went down 80,000 feet without hitting bottom. He remembers dropping a refrigerator down it and never hearing it touch bottom.”

How? He was lured into the hole in his sleep and only exacerbated the situation later because whatever was in the hole was luring him deeper by pretending to be a hurt human. Children are especially susceptible to such trickery by these kinds of supernaturals, and _he already had a concussion by the time it started talking._ Hanging that kid out to dry after all that trauma is excessive and cruel.

Why would they not put like an actual like fence up around this or a series of fences to ensure you know no one could go in there poking around especially on their property you know.

You know, this narrator puts out a ton of really great Creepypastas, But from time to time he gets one that's just so deep, it makes your SOUL shiver! This is that kind of story for me. I truly "FELT" that story. Which i'm sure was the authors intent, but simply reading a story has less of an impact on me than "LISTENING" to the story being told with real emotion and feeling as if from someone who may have actually lived it. This is where the true talent of the narrator comes in. Pretty much anyone can read you a story, but not everyone can do it with the magic of a great narrator. Someone that can truly bring you in to that story emotionally, have you feeling for the character, and what happens to them. You can actually feel their fears, losses, pain, sadness, and their joy. One of the reasons I love this channel is for the narrators talent to do all of that, seemingly with ease, where only a very few can. Not to mention all the great stories the narrator gets from some really great writers! Thank-you Lighthouse Horror! For another amazing, soul shaking, perfectly narrated story! Keep up the great work my friend! I'm very thankful for you and your stories! 🤙👍

Honestly if I were his cousins I’d never speak to him again. Falling in the pit, fine but going down after repeatedly being told not to and that leading to his uncles so their fathers death… yeah

I have an urge to flood the pit via the lake his uncle would fish in. Basicly make a small canal that constantly would let water into the hole

Really like the story up into the point of the conversation with the entity. That's when hole started to form to my logical common sense brain. Such as when the entity said, it's been down there for a while and it doesn't know how long. Then it tells the boy its foot is trapped and it's bleeding. It says it might die if the boy doesn't help. It never said it just got its foot trapped. Implying its foot has been trapped. And if it's been trapped and bleeding for that long shouldn't it already be dead. Secondly when the boy asked it for its name. It replied that it's cousin wouldn't know cuz it was long before his time. What human could survive for that many years being trapped in such an environment. Human beings trapped in such environment don't live more than a month. After all what could possibly be at the bottom of that hole for somebody to eat. Except maybe mushrooms and fungus. I highly doubt a human would survive for years on that diet alone. That would be the other concern about water. Of course that could very easily just drip down the side of the cavern. There would be all sorts of other issues like dysentery. Being confined to any limits space to relieve yourself of waste. And not having proper sight to see where you're relieving yourself. And whether or not it's contaminating your food source. So once it said it's been down there longer than it's cousin has been alive that should have been a major red flag. I think the author would be better to leave this passage out. Or rewrite it to not reveal such telling giveaways that this could not be a person.

Your narrations make any story better and I have listened to dozens of the stories on your channel. This is the first story that frustrated me too much to enjoy it. The main character’s refusal to listen to his cousin and his own common sense caused his uncle his life. I wanted to knock him out and drag him up myself.
