Everything worked to perfection, but the doors on the garage won't open. The game prompts me to "open/close door" but nothing opens
Check your game log for errors, you might have an xml blancing error on the animated objects.

i know this is a older video but i was hoping you could help ? What if the building isnt in the placables folder in the map ? How would you get the xml ? I can't find anything in the maps dir that relates to the building I wold like to make a mod . Thanks for any help you can provide.
Every placeabke is called from the placeables.xml so find it there and that line will point you exactly at the xml and the xml if you open it will point you exactly at the i3d of the placeable.
If there is no line for it in the placeables.xml then it means it is not a placeable, it is then just an object in the map.
You can still export and create an xml for it.

@@FarmerBoBonTH-cam you were right , the building is a object. It’s nowhere in the placeable xml. It has moving doors and lights and all. Do you have a video by chance of how to build a xml ? I was able to extract the .id3 and files from the map.

Hi, i tried following your instructions and i got the mod to show up in game but when i click on it, it says item could not be loaded
Check thevgame log for errors. If you cant find any there ubzip the mod and drop the unzipped mod folder onto testrunner from GDN. It will definitely show you problems if there are any.

I have a production that a followed your steps on and made my own personal mod from a map I have been reworking. Got everything done and get it into the game and loads fine but won’t let me place it. All it says is not enough money. Even went as far as editing the cost of the placeable to zero with the same outcome. Tried it with only base game stuff and no mods and dlc with the same of it saying not enough money.
Ok, the best is take an ingame placeable from $data/placeables with the same function in game and verify every aspect of that xml with your xml, paying particular attention to the type in th3 xml in th3 very first 2 lines and then also the line for the placeables.xml when you bought the ingame one and save the map then look at the placeables.xml of the savegame for the correct type and placement in the line for the xml.
