Eric, As always a great review!! I’m glad this engine was in my price range, and in fact I already have mine in Western Maryland livery. Not the snazziest, but my favorite road! This engine sure is a step up from my MTH Protosound WM BL2. I like how you gave another great history, and yes this engine helped paved the way for hood engines to follow! Thank you for your review!! The BL2 looks great running on your layout!!
Wow, a great video and an interesting engine, great combo! A few years ago I went to a train show, and at one of the tables a guy was selling one of these in HO scale, and it was custom painted red with flames on the side!! Also, the back reminds me of a GG1, lol!
Eric do you think you could get your hands on any Grand Trunk Western locomotive? I feel like that would be a great addition to your fleet and they look pretty nice
A great choice in engine Eric! "The semi-streamlined BB looked like a cross between a cab unit and a Borden milk car..." to quote David P. Morgan. The MTH model is just was you expect...solid build and great sounds. Me personally though I'd probably get the Western Maryland scheme.
Thanks for a great review of a unique looking diesel. I especially enjoyed the history portion. MTH has done a wonderful job on this engine. I have one of the first releases, in the EMD demonstrator colors, with Proto 1.0 which I had upgraded to version 2.0 some years back. Although mine is nicely detailed the latest release has so much more added on details such as more realistic horn details, opening doors on each end and windshield wipers to name a few. Your review was a great way to wrap up 2017. I trust you and your family will have a safe and happy New Years and I am looking forward to more of your fine reviews in the new year.
Very much enjoyed this review Eric as I have the blue Boston & Maine engines, which are quite dull compared with this color scheme. Thanks for posting.
I'm curious as to why American engines were designed with just one crew cab unlike U.K engines that have a cab at each end? Surly having two driving positions would be a lot handier than just one? ``
g2macs because in UK normally most trains are for passengers and go back and forth on the same track but in America freight lines tend to be on one track and then switch to another to go back or they go somewhere else besides the starting location. That’s what I think I’m not for sure though
I pulled out my Legacy system to run my new SD40s around the tree. The remote seems to have a stuck 8 key. It just keeps entering 8. Have you ever had a similar issue, and if so how did you fix it?
Shame that MTH didn't do the BAR scheme.
I've always thought of the BL2 as a beautiful locomotive. I can't see why anyone would think of them as ugly ducklings.
i'd get one in either C&O, WM or Monon colors...
Me too! 😀
For me, the EMD BL2 sort of stood out amongst my favorite locomotives. Something about the design just makes it look good for me.
Asbestos is good in my opinion and ive been exposed multiple times and im fine. Old locomotive filters had asbestos so I'm happy.
what a beauty.. and it looks really super in the B&M colors
thats an odd spot to put the horn 5:26
I think it's unique
Thank you for your videos Eric. They are helpful and fun to watch.
Never clicked on a video so fast. I need one of these I saw an ho one before and fell in love lol
Yoshi Steam Engine 1401 yea
Here in Maine, we have one in a museum in Bangor. It is from the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad.
I’ve seen one of those on the Saratoga North Creek RR still is Service

The Saratoga and North Creek RR has a couple of BL-2s one has problems and the other one doesn't work at all.
Nice BL-2 Eric and Merry Christmas!!!!
What is your preferred manufacture of Model trains? MTH or Lionel?
Hi Eric’s trains your videos are awsome
Great review as always Eric
Awesome video as always, keep up the good work!

So im gonna guess its got an emd 567 non turbo in it?
A bit strange to upload this half past midnight... but, I'm glad I stayed up this late. Worth it!
I also think it's neat that during the pfa another train is heard passing!
Great job Eric
I've been in one and they're really cool. I really like the Florida east coast paint scheme
So do I, I like The BL2's Florida East Coast colors as well
that train looks so modern to me
I think it's a pretty nice looking locomotive kinda like a combo between a GP unit and F unit

11:57 is that a crescent cab sitting in the background!?
Also, did anyone else notice the cab from the wrecked Lionel NS 1982 in the back ground during the running session?
I like the format of this review!
Hey Eric! Can you please review the MTH GS4? I don’t know if I should purchase one.
I was hoping they would do a Monon one
I like that bl-2 Eric great choice
Great engine, fine commentary.

Nice engine! I like the BL-2

Nice locomotive

Nice Bl2
Cam you use the 611 as the polor express for christmas
Awsome
The C&O units weren't purchased by the C&O. They came from The Pere Marquette when the C&O acquired that road.
Eric when you are explaining the History of the Engine are you reading it out of the Catalog?-Awesome Video
No monon road name offered? That's a shame
My thoughts exactly, that would have been the only one I was interested in. Bet they have done it previously though

Has a great sounding horn
Merry xmas and a happy new year to all on this channal
Eric do a review on indonesian lokomotif pls
btw i also love odd shaped vehicles from spaceships to trains
what is your heaviest pulling locomotive Eric ( i go by dusty)
if you dont have it yet the new Niagara looks pretty hot can u get one and make a video
Cool 😎I have always liked the B & M colors. 🚂
I think the BL-2 look awesome if I had a major railroad back in the day I would have given them a try
I wish lionel would make more odballs like this!
someone needs to make an o scale 70013 oliver cromwell or 60163 tornado
Interesting! 😉
i love that horn and by the way the blue B&M caboose looks so much more ugly than the classic red and black
Last good looking deisel to be produced, none of that ugly walk ways of the Jeep’s and sds.
I always liked the design of this engine but I always liked weird looking stuff
Hi
11:50 what happened to 1982
BFIMO
is there not a way to see more into the cab? i wish there was also i think it looks like a new and improved City of Denver
Great video like
Heh bl2s are some of the weirdest locos...
25th. 😒
Haw haw
so weird
What is the best cheap steam engine?
From which manufacturer?
BL-2 is fUGLY!!! Sure would be nice to get a decent SD40-2, GP50, SD45-2, F45 in O rather than all of these re-dos.
Denniss7420 wait a minute, ugly - "Ugly duckiling" WOW aren't you special and smart thinking!
