    For what it's worth, here's a bit of an update:
    The episode appears to have been filmed in 2016, it was eventually authenticated and put up for auction in 2019 (unknown if by the same owner here). It did sell for just shy of $23,000. The same year, another album with just 3 signatures on the back and 2 on the front (but with some extra character thanks to Robert Plant's comments) sold for over $32,000. So his pricing wasn't really out of the real of reality and it might be fair to say the appraiser may have undervalued it here. The fact still remains that it seems the majority of these fully signed albums don't have all the signatures on the same side.... and the ones that do seem to have probably found long term places in various collections. So while not perfect, it's what was available... and that drives up the price.
    Some speculation: Even if the appraiser had valued it at $20K, Rick likely would have only offered $10K noting that it was a particular item that needed to be authenticated, graded, mounted, and prepared for auction. He probably wouldn't have gone over $13K and I don't see this guy accepting that offer... ultimately walking away.

      WORST CHANNEL EVER - Not exactly. They reenact actual sales.
      The law prevents recording live pawns for privacy reasons. So people sort of apply to be on the show or they see something come in that they want to feature they’ll ask the seller. They make a deal and then recreate it with the store closed to the general public while filming.
      That’s also why the guys rarely work the store anymore. To many people want to pictograph them which would violate the privacy laws.

    I find it really amazing that people expect a full price (either actual appraisal, or imagined) from a PAWN SHOP. A pawn shop can't afford to pay full retail price, add in the cost of storage, displaying/matting, auction (with associated fees), the owner would be lucky to get it at half appraised cost, but most likely to get it at a quarter. That's just the reality of it.

    • @clarastallworth845
      @clarastallworth845 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @William Rust if one was looking to actually sell the item outright to the pawn shop, then the shop will pay out literally pennies on the dollar, not necessarily the item's actual value. And given that this particular pawn shop is in Vegas, they get plenty of folks coming in looking to sell their stuff just to get cash to gamble with.

    • @williamrust374
      @williamrust374 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@clarastallworth845 Yeah... then why would they expect full retail price when they know the pawn shop will offer to pay only pennies n the dollar? Pawn shops are places where people usually put up an item for collateral to get some ready cash then pay to get the item out of hock later. If the person reneges on paying the pawn shop what they gave him in "loan", they can then sell the item which was set as collateral
