Good afternoon everyone! Welcome back to Car Obsession, and welcome once more to 'Bella', my FIAT Seicento Sporting. In this video I carry out a job I've never done before...timing belt and water pump replacement. Did it go to plan, or did I bite off more than I can chew???

Great analysis of the procedure. Never tried replacing the timing belt on my Seicento but this gave me all the information I may need if I ever give it a go in the future.

I'm glad to hear it mate! One of the reasons I made the video was because when I was looking for videos myself there weren't many I found overly helpful, especially in English.
I found that surprising as the 1.1 FIRE engine has been around for donkey's years. I also wanted to highlight the pitfalls I had to avoid them happening to someone else.

Thank you for this video! I watched it about five times in the past week and today successfully managed to change the timing belt, water pump and aux belt on my seicento sporting with no hiccups bar breaking both the top and bottom cam belt covers! Oh well they both still bolted back on (fairly) securely!! 😂 Thanks!

No worries, I'm glad this video proved to be useful! Great stuff on getting the job done!

Safe engine, nothing much to go wrong mechanically
The belt could fail without causing valve damage.
I had to fix a Punto that the cam pulley bolt has failed on, i replaced the bolt trimmed the belt and the engine fired back up fine.

Great spannering! Cambelts is one thing I’ve always been reluctant to do, so hats off to you mate 👏

Thanks pal! I was much more comfortable trying the job myself as the engine is non interference. I may do the timing belt on the MX-5, but that's a bit more involved so would probably want supervision from one of the guys at the garage I work at.

    Hey buddy 😊🤗✌️
    Another great video.
"The red dipstick not the one using the camera!"😳😳😀😀🤣🤣💜💜✌️😊🤗 Don't be so hard on yourself, in many ways you're a polymath! Multi-talented👍✌️💜😊
Good to point out its non interference - they fill me with dread! Some older high po twin cam Fiat's were - horror stories abound 😳😳
That airfilter box is a lot less fiddly than on my Swift.
When I've done cambelts I've never taken the plugs out. A big socket and bar only (wheel off one engine mount loosened and jacked up).
A word of wisdom to the wise, use some tippex or similar on the alignment/timing marks (before removing the old belt).
Also, if there's room (and one is not changing the water pump - I often changed the water pump and idlers every other cambelt change IF the water pump was a quality one - main dealers don't often change the water pump 😳🙄💩), one can cut the old belt in half - long ways on. Take away half of the old belt, slide the new belt partially on - then cut off the rest of the old belt. Then push new belt fully on, as easy as!
I always used Gates kits, they come with idler gears etc, full job, often better than main dealer offerings (just the belt and lots of cash).

Hiya Muso, as always, thanks for watching. I've been called many things, but I don't think a polymath has been one of them before 😅. Yes, tippexing is another way of doing it, so good tip there 👌.

I couldn't get my sei to start for half a year; because of your video i only now realised there were two different marks on the crank shaft gear...

Good job. My Abarth Seicento's belt was also out by one tooth until I replaced its belt. It did feel a little perkier after that.

Great video, do you have any part numbers for both belts and pump? Cheers

      @CarObsession  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

Hi there, thanks for watching. The parts were bought from Euro Car Parts, and they use their own part numbers:
      Timing Belt Kit - 348771718
      Water Pump - 201650245
      Auxiliary Drive Belt - 202771125
      Hope this helps.
