    This is a fantastic example. Looks like new. I bought one new in 1980, same colour as this. The sound is amazing. Brings back so many memories. So glad to see that you kept it totally standard. No racing bars, rear sets or racing pipes. Nice, you should be proud.

    Had one brand new in 1979. Exactly the same model, did 30,000 miles on it and apart from the damp playing hell with the center plug, it never missed a beat, and I thrashed the living daylights out of it....most fun bike I ever had, I wish I could have another

    We used to cut the baffles down on these bikes , makes it sound a bit more louder .
    I had a 1980 white version , was and still is my fave bike , had many adventures on it i was young then .

    Best bike i ever had......33000 miles and I thrashed it unmercifully, i defy anyone that says they abused a motor as much as i did that little 250......i hate to think how much petrol and 2 stroke oil i put through it. I wheelied it every day, original clutch!!! fell off it quite a few times as well, must have put at least 20 indicator lenses on it, i used to scrape the middle exhaust in fact i scrapped holes in two middle pipes and ground the side stand in half!!! can remember putting on the stand and two girls sat on it and the stand bent and they both fell over with the bike......god i miss those days......

    I remember the old metal plug saps, middle cylinder would go whenever it rained! But great memories of the late 70's.

    • @russellnewton6660
      @russellnewton6660 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Roger Blackwood the middle cylinder was a nightmare in the wet, I put a rubber flap on the front mudguard, it’s that many years ago now I’m not sure if it worked lol, I think it helped.

    • @rogerblackwood8815

      @@russellnewton6660 That made me smile! I didn't want to do that as it really wasn't a cool look! But I had to get over it and stick one on too, but it was a proper Kawasaki one from Harvey Owens in the Walworth Road London SE17, the official Kawasaki dealer! Wow that's a long time ago now! I actually bought my bike 9 months old from Pride and Clarks, Stockwell London for £799 The Candy Blue colour with a few thousand on the clock in Nov 79. PPD 356R was the reg! Fantastic memories of those days!

      I bought a set of NGK plastic plug tops and that semi-cured the problem. Finally I bought some platinum electrode plugs and never had another issue.

    • @rogerblackwood8815
      @rogerblackwood8815 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nockianlifter661 There were a few of us on the Kwaka triples, we all suffered the same. We bought the NGK caps, can't remember the success rate🤔 But the bad looking mud flap worked perfectly👍 There were a few in our group who had GT380's and one GT550, they didn't seem to have the same problem? I don't think platinum plugs were an option back in 79'?

    • @nockianlifter661
      @nockianlifter661 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rogerblackwood8815 yep, they were definitely an option, but very expensive. Tiny little centre electrode like a piece of wire. That would be in 77/78. If I remember I’d read an article in a magazine and had to order them on long delivery. Even back then they were something like £15 per plug, so I don’t imagine they were exactly popular.

    My favourite 70's 2 stroke 250cc. Had my first moped in 1976 (Puch MS50d), went on to a Yamaha YL1 100cc twin, Then a Yamaha AS1 125cc twin, which I pushed more than I rode. In 1977 I was walking through my local town when I got my first sighting of a KH250 and when he pulled away on it the sound was incredible. I knew right then that this was the 250 I wanted. So why I ended up buying a Suzuki GT250 I will never know. 🤷‍♂🤷‍♂

    My friend had one in the early 1980s, he gas flowed the heads and ported it. He’d pick me up on it and we’d go to sixth form and back on it. We used to get stopped by the cops, just because they wanted to check it out...
    This post brought back happy memories of simpler times, thanks a lot!

    Great looking little bikes these, always liked them but never had one. Was either too young, too skint, or by '80 I was hankering for something bigger. In '81 I bought a Z650 f2, still in its crate. Lovely bike, quick in its day with decent handling. Always thought of KH250 as 'the bike that got away' though. Later on I remember seeing ads in the MCN for heavily-discounted B5 models, still crated up, for £399....

  • @madbadger85
    @madbadger85 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    In fact I was so nuts on mine I scraped the side stand in half, I put the bike on it one day the stand bent and it fell over!! The other side I scraped holes in two middle pipes!! Replaces countless indicators from falling off and I learnt my wheelie skills on it. Mate had the RD 250 which was quicker but didn’t handle as well so I always beat him anywhere 😂 great times.

    I bought one new around 1978 but never though the middle cylinder ever ran right after around 5000 miles .Strange thing is after all the bikes I’ve had over the years this is the one I dream I still have and have forgotten about at the back of my shed . Dreams just weird 😂

    One of the last, I never liked that paint job.
    I love Kawasaki 2stroke triples , I had a new 1977 250 , and a new old stock 1977 400, and really old stock new kh 500 for the price of a kh100 in I think 1980. I've had 4 strokes since , OK but I loved the triples best. The kh 500 was really a life time keeper, a regret.

    Bel gioiellino ; peccato che all'epoca non poteva essere commercializzato in Italia X via delle restrizioni ( non di clima) .Era lo stato che X difendere le marche italiane aveva imposto un minimo di cilindrata cioè oltre i 350cc ; esempio la Suzuki 380 poteva essere importata e quindi circolare .

      funny you should say that, two of us bought them on the same day, one letter different in the registration, i run mine in for at least 900 miles my mate did 10 miles on his and then thrashed it......his was super quick and would show 100 on a flat, his engine really pulled hard, mine on the other hand seemed strangled and would only show 80 on a straight so mine did feel gutless next to his but the crank went in his at 9000 miles.....mine ran and ran and ran.....couldnt blow it up.....god knows i tried!!!!
