Beautiful video! Glorious sunrise, and the views from Half Dome were spectacular. So gorgeous… what a great day! I didn’t know Pileated Woodpeckers were out West - very cool to see them. Glad you met up with Shade for a second - sorry about the battery issues, and lack of WiFi in the Park. I’m looking forward to the next batch of videos - eager to see Shade and Rabbit!!!
I loved the video of Half Dome. Unbeknownst to me, my two sons climbed it on a cross country trip when they were in college. They reported it was fabulous except for the choke points. You had a perfect weather day for the climb. Thanks for taking us along.
Backpackers campground should have been available for you in the valley coming off the trail. Sorry you missed that, but look it up for next time. Good to see you luckily got hooked into the campsite anyway. Amazing video, brings back memories of our 2023 hike.
Nice!! Yeah I was kind of scrambling for a solution with a final-effort plan to find a ranger and just explain my situation. Luckily the very first campers I asked were awesome and so I didn't really need to worry!
I hope you weathered the dusting of snow in the Sierra! Anxious to hear where you were when the front went through! Take care! Stay safe! Keep on keeping on!
Ahh, Yosemite. So beautiful, so crowded. I hiked up half-dome in about 1973 on a rainy day. But it sure looked gorgeous for you! Love the sunrise shots you included.
SWEET tunes! I lost a good Mora knife while bushwhacking after climbing HD in '15. One of the highlights of a 5 week tour of the SWuS. Bet you got a high from that climb!
If you keep filming like this, I'll also hike the PCT/JMT, what beautiful images of half dome. But it is very busy, a bit too busy? In Yellowstone, Glacier and Teton, I had to 'beg' for a spot.
It was a little crowded, but it was alright! There's just so many population centers so proximal to Yosemite and the park is so famous and beautiful that there's just always people around
Yes it is definitely a pretty scary climb!! The entire cables section is like a 70% grade and the granite is pretty darn slick. It is pretty much mandatory to use gloves, I was fortunate enough to have found a pair of good gloves stashed at the bottom of the cables for anyone to use (there were probably a dozen such pairs). Just a few weeks before I got there a father watched helplessly as his 18 year old daughter lost her grip and fell to her death. I'm amazed that it is as available to the public as it is, given its 100% no-fall forgiveness.
That’s incredible that it’s still open. I got a tiny flavor of that on Chitza Nitza Mayan pyramid near Cancun (now not permitted to climb). I was hoping you’d give a talk about how the climb, being on top, and descent was as it’s so unique. Maybe a follow on or lengthy comment? 😁 What an amazing experience. I’ve done up to Vernal Falls. But that’s it. I gotta get a permit and get back there.
👍👍
Hah! I’ve stayed in those funky tent cabins in your video. Thank God for those friendly people who put you up!!! 😁🥾🏕️
Absolutely!!

Congrats on sending Half Dome and ‘Yogi-ing’ a campsite. I hope you enjoy your zero.
Absolutely, thanks, Jeffrey!

Haha, surprise!! Glad to hear that they had a good time, glad I was able to bring you some views!
Such a cool video! Half Done is on my bucket list. The weather looks perfect for a kinda ling distance hike
Yes indeed the weather was a dream!! I certainly would NOT recommend attempting Half Dome in not-perfect weather, it was dicey enough as it was!

Thanks!! I was leaving Bishop when that weather came through-- experienced some cold but not really any precipitation to speak of, luckily!

Hey Rusty! Golly I'd be WAAAY too scared to attempt Half Dome in the rain! Glad you made it!! Hope you and the Alan and the hounds had a great trip!
@@travelinbeat Ahhh, I was very young and fearless.

It was definitely rather intimidating and daunting!! Glad to have done it, glad to have had success with it!
Half dome looks amazing!
Were you expecting that many people around - sometimes that a shock to the system.
Or maybe that’s a small crowd comparatively speaking
There wasa good number of folks around, and yes, I was expecting a decent number of people. All went well though!!
Good weather and few people=perfect day to climb Half Dome
Absolutely!!
Congratulations on Halfdome Did you change cameras? Great views and clear video.
No change to the camera, perhaps less smoke? This video shot on the same GoPro Hero 9 Black as I've used on all my videos 😀

Curious how the climb up half dome went? Is it as scary as it seems?

I've climbed Half Dome several times and still it looks impossible.
God yes!!! I have no clue how it's still open!! (But I'm glad to have made it trek!)
