My headcanon is that Plug was cursed in his grand adventures when he was a youngster and was cursed by some god or omniscient being to die, but it was specifically that he would "die tomorrow" and so he was turned immortal on accident.
Honestly having been around a lot of old folk but especially old farmers sometimes its less them knowing what the word is and more just saying what it is in context. Like "fibber" is the word fiber but "fiber armor" is fiber armor if that makes sense.
My first campaign the dm introduced a wizard named Spug with a lisp who would trade these weird ancient coins we found for cool magic shit. After the campaign ended we found out Spug was not in the dungeon crawl book as written, but was our DM’s first PC from when he started playing in middle school. Plug gives me the same warm fuzzy feeling of knowing he exists in this magical world.
Plug is the ultimate antithesis to The Plinth. One is a physical aspect of nothingness and endless consumption. The inevitable march towards a cold, dark end. The other embodies the utter defiance of that end, forever marching towards his doom but never meeting it. Infinity and nothingness, life and death, Plug and The Plinth.
I don't think plug is god, but I think he made a deal with a god at some point in his past, and the god just didn't consider the fact that the word "tomorrow" is a relative term. so whatever power he was granted came at the price of dying tomorrow, which effectively means immortality. idk that just seems very on-theme for something as trivial and absurd as a play on words to be the thing that outsmarts a god in this douglas-adams-esque world
Plug is truly one of the great examples of Brennan’s versatility in accents & mannerisms, it’s so odd that you can’t possibly imagine he pulls it out on the reg but it’s so distinctive and full of personality and I love him so much
4:15 oh wow I didn’t notice Emily was looking for slippery puppet materials that early. I mean it makes sense since it could potentially be a really easy ship killer, especially in a space campaign but dayum
Fully can't decide if Brennan decided on the spot to make Plug a near immortal being because of how much the crew loved him or if he already had an idea that Plug was an interesting NPC and the PCs would only find out if they interacted with him lmao I really gotta watch adventuring party
You left out the part where they go back to the hut for the first time and he tells them how it’s not tomorrow cause it’s today, then he does cublicane and turns into dust
@@mushroompoetI'm sure if you uploaded it in a separate video and put a link to that video in the description of this video, some people would enjoy that video (me, I would that video)
You have no idea how much I wish I could teleport into this fictional world to inform them that they would host/officiate Plug’s marriage to a member of the ship 😂 I just want to see their faces lol
At 12:00 does anybody know, did they decide in editing to make the sound effect for Plug popping out of the box a fart noise as a joke or did someone at the table laugh so suddenly they farted because for the life of me I can’t tell which is happening here I mean, it’s Plug, so it’s only appropriate if it forever remains as Shroedingers Toot in my consciousness
so sad that lean cooler was only able to make it into this via the animated version instead of just being included in the original like he shouldve been :(

Love how you see emily dial into obsession just by the name of the shop
The way she absolutely squeals at Plug's little two-hoot laugh and instantly decides that nothing is more important than Plug is my favorite
my favorite plug quirk is that he can say the "fiber" in fiber armor just fine, but it turns to "fibber" when he talked about cereal
there’s ha difference ‘tween metal fiber and fibber, mah friend

when you can get your players to loudly cheer at the return of a beloved NPC you know you've done something right

I love that! Great NPC idea that must've been very fun for the DM to play as well without infringing on player agency.
I genuinely believe that Brennan had no idea what was going to be in that box until he said the words.
“Shishter…if you give me drugstch…thenyull never tschee me again!”

The Plug and the Plinth, coming to ABC this summer
"OH! Frig-- frig magneck!" I would die for this man (tomorrow)
One of my favorite D20 NPCs to ever exist.
Plug Strutt and Arthur Auguefort is a valid rareship
Fully believe Plug is the Tom Bombadil of this universe

The amount of times I’ve watched this is unhealthy.
It is my dream as a DM to one day create an NPC that delights my players this much
my toxic midwestern trait is thinking i could down a hot sauce scramble
Literally same and just one bite would kill me instantaneously lmao
can't get enough plug in my life tbh

I know 😭 it's my biggest regret in life

Two things missing from this amazing compilation: Him getting the cublicane and the podcast bit from one of the adventuring parties :D
HOW DID I MISS HIM DOING CUBLICANE??? I could've sworn I put that in 😭😭
after junior year is over you should make a crit city supercut and at very least its all of zac's double crits
I just want you to know that this is the video that made me decide to get dropout
...Tomorrow
what?!
i feel like if you had to create a physical form for the very spirit of this campaign, you would come up with plug.
We love plug 💜
plug is the best d&d npc!!
I'm almost done with my starstruck rewatch, perfect timing!!
I cannot express how much i love this video
this season is top 3 for me tbh
You beautiful human
Wooooo PLUGS!
heh HEH
