Unlike some other actors that forgot Mohd Rafi's contribution in their fame. Jeetebdra was one of those loyal actors that stayed with him right until Mohd Rafi's end days.
Rajendra Kumar, joy Mukherjee, biswajeet, Rishi Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor, Dharmendra always stick by Rafi and always wanted him as first choice. It was the music directors who in the the period between 72 to 76 had a tendency for Kishore and only because Rajesh Khanna became the face of Indian cinema. But once Rajesh Khanna's star began to fade , there was a great demand for Rafi again. When we look back historically, Rafi is the greater singer ever and mind you Kishore is my favourite singer but having studied the history of playback singing, I like many of Rafi's peers agree he was the greatest , as the legendary manna Dey once said " what Rafi could do, we couldn't do, he was the greatest and it's an accepted fact"
@@shamadam1 Mohd Rafi himself took a less active part in singing after his return from Hajj. He actually stopped singing altogether at first but being a man of a kind and generous nature he could not refuse music directors (especially Naushad Ali) with many of their songs that he himself knew only he could do justice too. A typical example of these songs can be given by looking at Rishi Kapoor's films ( Laila Majnu, Sargam, Amar Akhbar Anthony and Hum Kissi Se Kam Nahin). Nonetheless MR still turned down many a song on the basis that the song/songs in question could be sang by any other singer. Hence the reason you only ever found one off rare songs of MR in films. Like the song gaadi bula rahi hai from the film Dost which he himself passed over to Kishore Kumar due to it being an easy song to sing.
