to anyone playing this deck: remember that you can flicker your own portals with the channel mode on touch the spirit realm and uncloaking unyielding gatekeepers to get around ertais and trigger the sac 3 every turn
@@AgentConundrum1 Does he realize it sometime in the video? i can't keep watching him doing this for the whole video, it bothers me too much xD. Hey, I was the player you encountered that was running your UR Artifacts list from Budget Magic a bit ago! I remember our match though I am surprised I didn't realize you were my opponent. I just wanted to clarify that the list was card-for-card what you were using. I've been piloting it as my re-entry to Arena and it's served me fairly well. It seems to be struggling more and more against the things I see on the ladder recently but I have a real soft spot for synergy-based aggro decks like this. It's a lot of fun and there are a lot of powerful things to do, letting you pull damage from seemingly nowhere. Also it plays Syr Ginger, and she is a card I am super excited to play as much as I can. Keep it up with the cool brews!
Only two basics is a little greedy isn't it? I saw this video where a guy with a very impressive beard played a land destruction deck that took advantage of people not playing enough basic lands.
5:54 I'm so confused why you wait for Ertai to enter and target the ETB trigger from portal and then flicker the Portal. It would have re-entered, made them sac their board, and probably won the game by itself.
@@DonovanPresents A lot of Seth's mistakes come from playing a huge spread of decks and formats but not getting consistent reps in on one or two decks The line honorableintent describes is the kind that's easy to miss if you don't get your reps in on one deck and mastering it
I was so close to flipping out when Seth implied he was going to concede game 1 vs boros convoke to try and keep his opponent from knowing what he was doing. Remember everyone, face down cards are revealed when a player wins the game.
Vannifar has become one of my favorite cards from MKM, to the point where I have a cEDH list that I plan to proxy and play with my group locally. It's such a cool commander
@@CupOYerba the first version that I based mine off of only had beatdown eldrazi/big attacks as a Wincon, but it felt like it needed another, so I added a Hermit Druid line.
@@davidhower7095 That'd be pretty slick. What different shells do you think you wanna slot into it? I have a modular deck as well, but it's Rukarumel (and none of the types are sliver 😆)
At 18:00 is it better to cloak portal/titan so that if they do kill it then next turn disguise cast gatekeeper cloak the other surprise with vannifar and still be able to flip?
Seth you beautiful, beautiful man thank you for showing me my new deck had the tech I was searching so desperately for in Tarkir and this recent set. A way to maximize cloaking and disguise to their fullest!
I had the best MKM draft maybe ever. Pack 1 pick 1, Worldspine Wurm. Trying to ramp into it in golgari rapidly changed in pack 2 pick 1, with an Etrata. I lost my first two games playing sultai, BUT THE THIRD GAME I CLOAKED THE WORLDSPINE AND FLIPPED IT FOR 4 MANA IN RESPONSE TO AN ILL-TIMED EXPLOSION
it would be even funnier if this deck had a transformative sideboard where you swap your bombs out for other big creatures, suprise them even more between games
I played a version of this style of deck, but cut the gatekeepers. They felt incredibly clunky at every turn, and just worked better as a regular removal spell
Seth is my favorite magic creator and I've been watching a ton of videos lately, I just wish he played limited because that's my preference by a large amount, coming back to magic you can play limited at a higher level way before understanding the standard meta and especially the larger formats. Also, standard puts you in a different decision game than standard does where you have to do more with less, use much lower power level cards and eek out an advantage and convert that. I wish I could find a content creator like Seth to watch who was as good as Seth is but at limited because I have so much to learn and I want to get a lot better. I'm also trying out standard on Arena with UW Baby Reanimator and U Tempo because they both use Haughty Djinn and a lot of the same cards, I've basically kept my boosters unopened and am just drafting my way to more, I do alright, but wish it wasn't just quickdraft exploring old sets because if you generally do alright in terms of record that's the worst one to play in terms of value. On the flip side, I don't get upset every time I draft badly or get blown out because it doesn't hurt that much, costs like 3 bucks and I draft once every couple of days. Problem with limited is though no wildcards, I've filled up the vault once with MKM.
I'm not sure who the best limited gameplay content creators on TH-cam are at the moment (I personally haven't watched limited in a while) but Deathsie and Voxy on twitch are both good and entertaining limited-focused players. Luis Scott Vargas aka LSV does some standard drafts and a LOT of cube drafts on TH-cam and is one of the hosts of Limited Resources, a weekly draft-focused podcast that follows the progression of each standard draft format metagame.
@@batsmak2506 Thanks a lot for that, I like LSV and I'll check him out for sure, I was aware of Voxy because of Rarran but haven't watched her play limited
IMO the whole Disguise/Morph mechanic was hot garbage because regardless of how cheap they are to put out as a random 2/2, you STILL have to pay the Morph cost to flip it over later on, but I gotta admit this deck makes it all worth using since those face up costs are getting bypassed or reduced to negligible costs instead. Mad props to Seth for putting this together for those who wanna try the whole "surprise" element. I do like how you can cheat things into play early with it using ANYTHING not just creatures though...it's pretty sweet Edit: That reanimate deck he played and won against looked pretty spicy 😎
im a bit confused why when you had a portal to phyrexia in play you were targeting anything but it with the unyielding gatekeepers like even when the ability got countered could have just retargeted the portal with the second gatekeeper that was flipped instead of the opponents creature
You are right about gleaming geardrake it's an awesome card I been running it in my izzet discovery deck to great success don't know why everyone is sleeping on it,it's my favorite card from MKM besides cryptic coat
What a sweet deck, When I think ETB shenanigans I think SaffronOlive, and this is why. Also, way to battle it out vs. esper and boros. Seth kinda beating the early scooper allegations on this one.
28:21 It seems incorrect to cast Get Lost at sorcery speed here. You certainly got max punished with Gleeful Demolition into Immodane's Recruiter. But that play would not have been possible if you killed the Warleader's Call at the beginning of their combat.
Farewell rotating single handedly kept alchemy interesting, but they print a boardwipe every set now, and sunfall is still sunfall. Control is going to stay miserable for a while.
What do you mean? An instant speed board wipe that lets you disable all abilities of opponent's creatures seems totally like what the game needed. Or another "exile all versions of your opponent's win con" card, these very interactive cards are really fun to play against. I like not being able to play my cards.
Last year at Burning Man I played a draft mostly using Commander Masters but it was a mix. We decided all the cards such as Command tower, would add any color of your choice. First pick obscura interceptor and ended up on a 5-color-rare-picking deck. But man that Obscura alone won me 70% of the games 😁
