Xie Lian, the crown prince of Xian Le Kingdom, successfully ascends to Heaven during his third trial despite of successive demotions. However, he accidentally breaks the Gold Palace of heavenly officials. With no human worshiping him, Xie Lian has to descend to the secular world to exorcise ghosts, which may help him sustain his divinity. During his adventure, Xie Lian encounters two heavenly officials and a mysterious young man in red. Four as a team, they experience lots of weird and bizarre events and gradually get to know the dark past of the seemingly glamorous Heaven.

His voice seems to be able to go quite deep with a tiny bit of rasp so I know my hearts gonna break when and if book 4 is animated 🥲

I just have to say the directors for this anime did an amazing job with the 1st season. They followed the storyline very accurately, nailed the chemistry between the Hualian, the animation, the music, how they set it up, how they portrayed the characters, etc. I also loved the little bits they added in that weren’t in the novel and how they changed a few things but with the same dialogue. Everything flowed so well together. It was honestly incredible how well they brought the novel to life! And I’m a tough critic when it comes to animes, so the fact that they made me love it so much makes my expectations high for this next season. It makes me so excited for a season 2 and the special episode. I just hope the 2nd season is longer than 11 episodes, as that is my only critic on season 1. I Wished it was a longer season and longer episodes. Overall, One word to describe this anime, a masterpiece.

Unrelated but I wonder if they will go past 3 seasons with TGCF. MDZS is a lot shorter (by over a whopping 100 chapters) and they're only getting 3 seasons, so they must be cutting out a lot of stuff and only putting main points for it. I fear TGCF might go this route and we lose some of the wholesome events that would make it all the more special. :(

Jiang laoshi's voice is therapeutic, it's peace, hope and joy all at once 🤍 And it's so amazing how he seems to be an entirely different person just by switching the emotional tone of the lines he is interpreting.
