  • Design with me on 2020! || KITCHEN DESIGN on 2020 software start to finish
    If you’ve ever wondered how I draw up kitchens using the 2020 design software, here is a whole video showing the process. We did speed this up quite a bit, it takes on average about 1 hour to draw up a standard kitchen. I hope you enjoy watching me draw on 2020. If you have any questions, please let me know and I’ll be happy to get back to you!
    Thanks for tuning in!!

    Great video! Can I ask why you used a deeper panel to the right of the range? This then threw off all of the cabinets to the right going around the angled area to be pulled to that depth. Just curious as to why you didn't use a 24" deep panel to mimic the left side cabinet?

    • @thematerialbar
      @thematerialbar  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hey awesome question Lindsey!! Especially in euro frameless cabinet designs, all panels should sit flush with the door depth. Typically doors are 3/4" to 7/8" thick. Usually I will order a full 25" deep panel and have my installers scribe it flush to the wall and flush to the depth of the door. by having a little extra they can make up in case the wall is not plumb. Honestly, these are the details that set a great more thoughtfully design stand out from basic designs. I hope this helps and makes sense 🙂

      Yeah, I wondered this too. Either the majority of the cabinets would need to be packed off the wall which is extra work/materials or the fillers will end up bigger than the layout shows and sometimes this warrants a larger cabinet or fillers be ordered. Then when I'm installing, I wonder which which way the designer wants it. In my experience, when there is funky things on the design, there are hiccups in the install. I appreciate your video though. It's neat learning what 2020 can do since I usually only get to see the results of what is created by a designer. Thank you. : )

    Cabinets are attached along the back to the wall- so how come your cabinets are not backed up against the wall? How would this work from a construction standpoint?

    • @thematerialbar
      @thematerialbar  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi and thanks for watching! 2 ways, either build out a half wall behind the cabinets which I usually suggest if we have plumbing in this section. Then you can wrap it with matching cabinet panels. In this video I did not need a half wall, so the installer would secure the cabinets against the floor and then pin the panels against the back and side of the cabinets. Let me know if this helps. Thanks!

    • @msovaz77
      @msovaz77 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      A half wall isn't needed- you cut the holes in the back of the cabinets if plumbing is on outside- that's how we do it in the US at least. Never seen a half wall built for plumbing?@@thematerialbar

      @@msovaz77 I don't think we are talking about the same thing. I was talking about the Peninsula and if you have plumbing, I'd rather cut into an half way than taking away too much space out of your sink base running the plumbing from underneath. What are you talking about?

    There seems to be a lot of wasted space where the wall cabinets go around the 45-degree corners at the bay widow. I would have used this space by building a special unit or maybe there are units for these situations.

    Love your channel, your back panel on your peninsula is too tall that's why your have that line on your countertop. Cut your back panel down to 34.5" tall instead of 36" tall and you will get rid of that line.

    • @thematerialbar
      @thematerialbar  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Roxanne, thanks for tuning in!! I order all panels on purpose 36" in height (we deal all semi and full custom cabinets) to be cut down on site. A lot of times we like to design using no 1/4 round trim molds and we want to sit super flush to the doors. If was to create a spotless rendering I will go in, create a duplicate kit file in 2020 and clean it up more so you wouldn't see this but I just created the file having my parts list for order ready. I hope this makes sense, thanks!!

      Hi Oleg, thanks for watching. I don't think I understand the question. 2020 is made specifically using cabinet design. Manufacturers can supply their own catalogs for it and I'm able to price out cabinets using this program. If you are looking to create free elements, I'd rather suggest a CAD program like Chief Architect. Thanks for watching!!
