Fellow pole dancer here. In their defence, pole shoes have a much bigger platform than those stilettos so easier to walk in. I can happily walk around in my 8 inch pleasers but I stumble nowadays in the 6 inch stilettos I used to wear on nights out 😂

True story: a woman was rehearsing the end of the opera Tosca, when the heroine jumps off the battlements. The singer was shown how to jump so she landed safely in the out of view crash mats. So what did she do? She jumped, in her high heels, and landed like you would after a normal, small jump, directly on her feet rather than on her body. No-one could stop her in time. She got up and walked away but found out later she'd broken both ankles!

Of course backflips can be done on ice. Look up any freestyle or exhibition video with Scott Hamilton (it isn't allowed in Olympic competition). It was his signature move. For pure fun, I'd recommend his routine to Aerosmith's 'Walk This Way'.
And the image of both of you in platform stilettos on a balance beam will stay with me for a very long time.

What do you mean, they said you can't do a backflip in ice skates? Scott Hamilton was known for doing it in the Olympics back in the 1980s. Surya Bonaly not only did a backflip while skating, she landed it on one foot. Pretty sure they made it an illegal move for women, but men still do them. (Is it a good idea for a relatively novice skater to try? Maybe not? But people do it.)
Probably meant it can't be done in the show, as in they'll not give permission to even try that with so little experience of skating. Physically it's a possible move of course, but the people you're mentioning probably didn't do it after a couple of months of skating either 😁 Of course Nile has the advantage of having done about a million backflips without skates, but it would still be a high risk move to try it on ice with actual heavy and sharp skates.

A lot of women wear high heels (stilettos )BECAUSE they cause definition of the calf muscles. 😉 I don't wear them. They are EXTREMELY bad for not only the feet but the back and everything else. So I can fully understand why you guys were extremely uncomfortable in them. I always wear heels that have something to actually keep me from rolling my ankles. So I typically wear cute sandals with thick heels.
Women use to wear high heels (stilettos or really high but not quite stilettos) because not only does in cause the woman to walk on the balls of her feet (the area at the end of the toes just before the arch) to give her the ability to make rapid, attractive turns in long dresses, but ballroom dancing is MUCH easier if the lady is up on the balls of her feet, but it also pushes the hips a bit forward (which is part of why it is hard on some women's back due to a lack of muscle definition, your body conforms muscle wise the more you wear heels) but it adds to that gentle rocking motion of the butt that makes that sexy model runway walk that men find so attractive (ask anyone who is attracted to women or nowadays men for that matter to watch you walk away from them in and out of HIGH heels, and ask them which walk is "sexier"...odds are good the one on heels will outshine the one in flats)....ask any dancer, male or female if dancing in high heels doesn't change the look and movement of not only walking but dancing as well. Ginger Rogers always wore heels regardless of what she wore when dancing with Fred Astaire...which is why most people should realize she was even better than Fred, cause she did the same steps he did, but in high heels, and going backward most of the time, plus all the spins, and dips he did with her, ON HEELS.....and the reason her spins were so much better, faster, smoother, and just better looking to the watcher is because the heels forced her to be on the balls of her feet, and the movement of the hips....
Brian Matthews l'm always amazed at what kind of moves people can do wearing high heels. I agree they elongate a leg but, the sooner we re-train ourselves out of thinking they make you look sexy, the better as far as l'm concerned. They're much easier for younger and slimmer bodies, which adds to the curious way women apparently become less attractive as they age and broaden.
Incidentally, l take your point about Ginger Rogers but mention should be made of the gorgeous Cyd Charisse, who often danced in flats because she was tall - there's an ongoing gag in Bandwagon about her being as tall/taller than Fred Astaire. She looks amazing though not in heels.
@@katehirst6046 Well, to be fair the older, broader women really didn't enter my mind, cause for them they would if ballroom dancing would simply wear lower heels that still gave them a bit of ball of foot action, but wouldn't require the "agility" of a younger frame to say it a bit more gentile....plus a lower heel for the broader shaped lady does prevent rolling ankles, cause that requires a rather strong ankle without the support, kind of similar to ice skating in that respect. Some ladies detest heels, and I get why...but fashion, and peoples preferences should allow everyone that best of both worlds. The queen always wore a lower, chunkier heel but she was definitely quite smart, and had a glide when she walked as well...but no one could deny Lady Diana when she wore the famous Black dress, and that undeniably feminine swish in the high heels she wore that day...she could have been a runway model in her own right in my opinion for the young jet setters of the day. And her mother in law the perfect example for women in a "comfortable, sensible" shoe.....

However, l do detest the continuing drive, both by fashion and by social and business sexism, that still insists high heels should be de rigeur for smart or sexy women. They're a completely unnatural and damaging form of footwear.

Is it possible for you to do front flip with a sword? (Long sword or greatsword) this flip was first seen with Artorias from dark souls 1 , then it appeared in other titles with his sword.
