    Thank you! I love kheer, and made it a couple of times the “old-fashioned way”, and it was so hard on my back. I’m old and disabled due to my back, and I simply can’t stand that long. I tried it in a pressure cooker, and I burned it up (the kheer), and I’ve seen other recipes calling for using an insta-pot, which I don’t have, so I was overjoyed to find your crockpot method. I’m getting all my ingredients ready, and I’m going to start first thing tomorrow. Thanks again.

    Hi! My rice is turning out mushy. I’m using uncooked basmati rice and whole milk. The first time, I set my crock pot to high and cooked it for 8 hours. It was mushy. I tried again and checked on it at 3h 45m, and it was already mushy. Do you know what might be happening and how I can avoid making the rice mushy?

    • @EasySteps_Sidhu
      @EasySteps_Sidhu  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If Rice pudding is mushy then you have perfected the kheer recipe.
      Thanks for watching, happy cooking.🙏

      Both... Hot has its own taste and Cold has its own taste.
      I like it both ways but when I eat cold then I add ice cream with it and it tastes super delicious.

    What size is your crock pot?

  • @basingstokedave4292
    @basingstokedave4292 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    never a crock pot with lock lid before ?

    • @EasySteps_Sidhu
      @EasySteps_Sidhu  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you have a locking lid feature on your glass lid it's extremely important to never lock the lid during the cooking process. Locking the lid during cooking will keep the steam -producing pressure --which could affect the slow cooker's performance.
      If your lid has a hole then you are okay to let the steam escape slowly but if your lid is plane (no hole) and then I would suggest not to lock it.😋🙏🙌😋

    Kheer in 8 hours 😂😂😂😂

    • @EasySteps_Sidhu
      @EasySteps_Sidhu  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      is it too long or too quick?
      cooking in the slow cooker...8 hours is the perfect time you go to work and when you come back and it's ready for you.
      Have you ever visited any Punjab village where the same process is done like 10 to 12 hours...matka kheer...cooking on slow cow dung for the whole day.

  • @ashwanikthapar437

    Two main steps missing in the recipe.
    1. Which milk to use non fat, low fat or full fat.
    2. What heat (LOW/HIGH) setting to use each for how many hours.
    I do not think RAISINS should be added. There is story about it.
    In olden days, theKheer was made in terracotta utensils over burning cow dung patties (slow cooking for hours). That recipe will have raisins. In those days the whole quantity was used up in one day (in one meal - dinner, large/joint families. refrigerators, no leftovers.
    Now a days, in slow cooker quantity made is lot, families are small. The delectable resides in Refrigeratiom for many days.
    But the RAISINS, boiled and sitting oozes it’s sourness around in the milk.
    Two things happen:
    1. Milk separates each location of a RAISIN
    2. Sourness spreads at the location.
    Next time when heated, stirred separation extends as well sourness spreads
    And charm of KHEER & time spent to create it goes down the drain.
