Hello Brent, man, I can't believe nobody has made a comment yet! This is a great video, especially for people contemplating heading offshore and over seas. In the past, Multihull Central has made a number of videos that provided very useful information on handling catamarans - they could be used in offshore sailing schools, but this video was really amazing. Everything that I have thought about, everything that needs to be considered in a cruising cat was discussed. And of course, both Seth and Doug have a particular interest (and biases) in what one needs in a cruising catamaran. I happen to share their point of view. But, for those interested in a production or charter catamaran, this is still something to watch and listen to carefully. As Seth said, you have to purchase a boat that fits the type of sailing you'll do. That may mean that a used charter boat (or new) is the right boat for you. However, if you want to cross the Pacific or circumnavigate, watch this video at least once a week while you research boats for your voyage.

@@MultihullCentral1 Like many people on this side of the planet, USA, I'm not as familiar with SeaWind. I understand that they too want to be the go-to semi-production builders for couples and families transiting the globe. Can you do some videos on their designs? Thanks!

I raced one Tornado race in San Diego. It was an Olympic qualifying race. I was brand new in the catamaran world from growing up in Naple Sabot's, Laser's and other small boats from a very young age. All of my many different catamaran's (about 7) had rotating mast except for the Hobie Cat's. I was 17 years old and won that event with 4 first and one 2nd place. That was back in the early 80's. I guess I'd probably go with the rotating mast when I get my cruising catamaran. Out of all the different designs I've seen, the Schionning design looks the most sexy to me but I have no idea what the performance differences are between all the other performance catamarans are. I'll have to do some more research on this topic before I make my purchase. I love this type of information where I can geek out. It totally reminds me of sailing class before we headed out to practice starts and all the other information we were taught in the morning.
