Then if my people who are called by my name
will humble themselves and pray and seek my

GOD BLESS YOU ALL AND THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR WATCHING!
My daughter and I watch your videos all the time! She is 5 and said she wanted a Richard Gene birthday party. She loves to come fish with me when its not cold out.
It absolutely amazes me how you target a certain species, and then actually catch that species. You truly are a FISHING MACHINE!
It’s good to see someone using old equipment. I was beginning to think it was impossible to catch fish without a $100,000 boat and $5,000 in gear. Great video!
I still have my Penn’s and my ABUs.
I keep them in top shape.
My Penn’s were made in the United States.
My Abu’s were made in Sweden.
I do have a bunch of Shimano reels.
Didn't you hear? Fish can't be caught unless you see fish, lure, strike, 100' out in front of you, live, on screen, in real time, for $20,000. Didn't you know? Rich people don't have time to be "fishin'"
Fishing has become an expensive sport. The young kids need to go retro.
@@sammyvh11 it's only as expensive as you want it to be, I like simple.
Watching how you set the hook shows me why I missed so many fish over the years. I'm smarter now because of you. Thanks. God bless!
Richard's the best, one of my favorite youtube channels. I watch all the videos.
Yea, the man is full of knowledge on many different species
On most fresh water species he is very knowledgeable
Richard Gene is the GOAT! Hands down 🙌🐐
As a walleye guy, I'm glad you let those small fish go to grow.
Fun video. Thanks for taking us along !!!
When i taught richard gene how to fish back in the 80s i never imagined he would still be doing it...😂
Lol
which 80s? 19? Or 18?
Hey now, times were simpler back then.ate your catch, ate your bait if you lost your hook and line..
Richard Gene forgot more about fishing than you know ! 😂
I used to fish carp tournaments with Richard Gene back in ‘92-94. You can tell he’s worked on his knot game since then.😂 kept losing his bait ball. I prolly took a couple $$ from that pot until he learned to tie a good knot
Richard Gene the Sauger Machine
Richard, thank you for taking us to catch some sauger. I always have to tell people what a sauger is because most I meet never seem to have heard of it. Sauger was mom's favorite but she liked crappie, too.
Glad to go fishing with you every time. You know I drop whatever I'm doing and just go. lol
My best to Mama Sue and keep warm.
Yep Richard, you just caused a lot of guys to start cussing watching you throw those JACKS back! LOL. LIVE FOR THE THUMP MY FRIEND!!
Looks to me like Me. Rocky sent ya back to your childhood. Great day on the water. God bless y'all.
Thanks for all the great videos Richard. Been fishing all my life, thought i had it all figured out, but I've gotten WAY better since finding your vids. Lots of great fishermen on TH-cam, but you're simply the best. Please keep up the good work!
Thank You Richard, great info and video you are a super good man helping us so we can catch more fish! We all love you brother! God's blessings are always to you and moma sue! 😇
I would like to meet you someday my friend!
Nice video, Richard. There aint nothing wrong with old equipment. I've got a couple old reels that my dad bought back in the 50's, old Langley open face. I still enjoy using those once in a while.
Thanks for taking us along with you today.
God bless y'all and stay safe out there on the wet rocks.
Hi Mr. Richard. Thank you for another great teaching segment. God bless.
Comment to support the channel
Pickwick is the closet place we can catch any of them tasty thangs. My dad used to make special trips to catch them buggers
I live in Florida and I don’t do much freshwater fishing. But ever since some years ago believe it might’ve been about two years since I’ve seen your channel for the first time, I’ve always enjoyed it. Thank you God bless.
Lol the pup at the end. Great catch going to try this technique out next time we go out for sauger simple but effective.
First time learning about an Sauger fish…looked it up we do have some here in NC on Lake Norman…Thanks Gene rock on!
Gene you’re just an all around great person!!!
Awesome video Richard as always. Keep them coming brother.
THANK YOU Richard Gene for the bladed gene video, caught a nice white bass with it
Richard - you’re the best.
Love the way you retrain your self from screaming. For other fisheman😅😂🎉
At home its ok 🫠🫠
I’ve been trying to catch one of these for longer than I’d like to admit. I hope one day I can catch one. Great video
When you target, let's say crappie, that's when you'll catch a sauger. 😂. I've targeted catfish, and I end up catching smallies. I've caught so many smallies intentional and unintentional. Watch I'll target bass, that's when I'll catch a catfish. Maybe that's what I'll do. I'll use a football head jig trying to get a bass, and I'll bag catfish that's happened to me a bunch of times, lol. 😂
You really need to transfer your videos to dvds as a reference library for catching fish!
Wow! I just searched Google Maps & had a look at where your fishing!
I can't believe how nice & LONG of a concrete walkway you have there! That's awesome,,,, an OLD Ohio's fisherman's dream.
Up North, the DNR doesn't know nut'n about giving handicapped fishermen access! We BEG all the time, for more fishing access, especially along the Ohio River, & below it's dams. We are forced to slide down 40' -50', 1 to1 hills, just to get to the water. Then we gotta walk on & over huge rip-rap boulders to find a flat enough, safe enough place to fish. It's a sad sorry *** shame.
THANKS,,, for showing us what could be!!
I too love to fish vintage gear right down to my Ron popiel pocket fisherman..lol just love watching your videos Mr Gene!!!
I think Richard is the first person I have ever seen catching release keeper Sauger
You right (again) I always called them Jack Salmons, But I'm so old I remember the little store & bait shop that was below the dam on a floating dock 😂😂
I wish we had some of those fish too. Looks like I’m gonna have to come to the Tennessee river system come across that line. The Alabama State line.
All your techs have help me catch more fish thanks 👍
The Machine is the best!!!
Wooo Awesome video Sir 👍👍I like the old vintage penn reel. 🎣 those was some Gooduns .. Stay safe and warm Sir and Remember Keep’em coming Woo
I don't even know if I have the species in my area never seen it or heard of them but im here for the fishing machine 😊
I like Mitchell spinnig reels. Very smooth a dependable. I love sauger and walleye fishing because they are a premium fish very tasty
Thanks for making us videos. A long time subscriber. It's o k if you get excited when you catch a fish. Let it out. It's okay if people think you're exited, crazy.

Best Fishes Happy Trails
🐟🦈👍🤟✌️🤞🙏🙏🙏🐾🐾👣🤠
Thanks Gene!!! Love ya
I nominate Richard Gene the Fishing Machine for president.
I will run into you there one day I swear. We went in the lock there recently and got sauger, largemouth, crappie, bluegill and white bass. They are stacked now!
This man is a wizard
Uncle Richard I know you know but buddy you turned some of the best eating fish loose made me jealous as all get out. Good job tho n keep puttin the steel to em
Merry Christmas to you and Momma Sue. I've really enjoyed your videos this year. Keep up the good work!
Merry Christmas Richard to you and yours. Thanks for all the great fishing.
Sauger and walleye are right up there with crappie on the top of my list of frying fish. When I catch them on artificials they slam that lure hard.
Richard could you make a winter time bass fishing video using artificial lures? Wooooooo..I'm talking about woooooo!!
I have a similar reel. The vintage stuff is always fun to use
Thanks Richard for another interesting video!
Love it❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hey you ol rock hopper you’ll fish for anything I seen ya with rocky fishin I learn a lot from y’all 3:16
Mr. Gene, happy holidays from Northern California, its been a great fishing year to watch, i did fish for Saugerc in WichitaKs this summer , no luck as it was too hot in july for them...
Enjoyed the video! The sauger are slamming up here in WV.
🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣👍👍👍👍👍 I'm talking about woooooooooo.
Good thrusday evening Richard 🎣
I know this is off-topic because this is about catching sauger. I've seen and learned a rig or lure you use for 1 type of fish. You can catch other fish. For example, I've caught catfish and nice ones on black and blue football head jig with black and blue creyfish. I've done this early spring when it's chilly still catfish, hugging muddy bottom of water in a hole to keep warm. Bass, do this, too. Also, when its hot. If waters calm enough and you can see a dark shaded area on the water surface, it's either a hole in the lake, a river, or a pond bed. Or, it's heavy grass or brush patch.
Thanks Richard!!
The 1st sauger I caught was 18inches long and spit about a 10inch baitfish into the live well. I was using a ¼oz rooster feather jig with a 2½inch minnow.
WOW!!! Nice catch brother!
@RichardGeneTheFishingMachine Douglas lake in Tennessee. Same lake I caught another 1 that was 17inches fishing for crappie with a hairjig and minnow
I would think the reason when you reeled and it was making a loud sound was the drag maybe. Those old reels it's either to tight or loose. Another great video. May God continue to bless.
Thank you for the blessing.
Elmo is missing out again lol!
I saw that episode you giving him that rod and reel for that reel.
Your throwing your dinner back son. What you doing?
You ain't never heard of a stringer boy?
Put them in the bucket son.
👍🎣🇺🇸
I find around 3" shiners and stonerollers do the strick big time for sauger. Prefer the stone rollers
Hey Richard, we catch crappie on lake Marion.
I'm talking bout WOOOOOOOOOOOO
I’m here for the insane alter ego.
I fish walleye here in ND, sauger also.
Richard will tuffy minnows work and where did you get those minnows you were using?
ever use closed face reels? i usually use zebco 888 off of rocky coast for rockfish or for salmon/steelhead in streams during thier season. a 33 for most other fishing.
I was gonna ask is that the reel you got from Rocky? But now i see you said it is. Pretty cool rig
THANKS!
is the ramp usable at Guntersville dam?
💜🎣
Its hard to set the drag on the old reels its all ways tooi much or not enough. He made the only adjustment you can make. Great work thanks for all videos. God bless
Is there Walleye there? On the Cumberland River we have both.
Can u do flathead catfish video
2062 was my main reel in the 70s
I have a reel like that. It's a Mitchell garcia i believe I never used it but i want to
No, that was a penn. I have 4 or 5 of the Garcia 308 and 408. I have hundreds of hours on them. Many many fish.
Where do you get your minnows?
👍😎
Still have a scar from a walleye cutting me to the bone with those gill plates.
Goodun Elmer
What bites at 40 and 30 degrees
Sauger and crappie video
When the carpenter tells you that the jack salmon is 17.5 to 18 inches long, take that to the bank . Vintage reels just added a bow on top ...
50 degrees, eh? Just checked the Mighty Mississippi river temp by me to see if I could try this. 33 degrees. I think I am too late.
I think I was always told that those was Jack
I’ve never seen this fish before, is looks kind of like a mullet.

Where can I send you a gift? Some custom made crappie jigs by Limits Tackle.
✝️Psalms 23:4 NIV
[4] Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

What they taste like
Why thus on my phone
Are you above, or below, the dam? Not familiar with Guntersville.
Does. This. Fish. Have a. Nother. Name
I hate to see you throw those fish back , any fish !!😊
Lol
Cant believe u r releasing them great eaters. Better than candy. Mmm mmm mmm
Because not everyone keeps every fish they keep every time they go out.
