    "It's the best!"
    You said it all, man.

    Praise God for this conversation. I was in the middle of watching it and it just made me want to do nothing more than go into the Chapel and sit with the Lord in vulnerability, so much so that I had to pause the video, go into the church next door, and just pray. What a blessing that God has chosen to work through you in order to work on the hearts of his children!

    I just moved to Steubenville because you, Matt, mentioned it a few years ago, which put it on my radar as a Catholic oasis. Two months ago, the Holy Spirit said, "Now! Go check it out," so I bought a plane ticket and booked an Airbnb and resolved to completely follow His lead. No plans, no agenda.
    My Airbnb host said, "By the way, I'm a Realtor; if you'd like to do some house hunting while you're here, I can hook you up." So I did that, but on my first day of my Steubenville trip, I got doubts because I didn't like the town at first. I said, "Holy Spirit, what do you want me to do? Do you want me to move here? Then give me a clear sign. And don't be subtle; you know I don't do subtle. Hit me over the head. Like, let me meet one of these 'famous Catholics.'"
    On Day 2, I went to the FUS campus and had some extremely profound spiritual experiences there. That pretty much convinced me, at least 80%.
    On Day 3, I went back to FUS and after Mass at Christ the King Chapel, ran into Scott Hahn (the "famous Catholic" I'd been asking for). The Holy Spirit was keeping our deal-that was His sign that I should move. That day, I made an offer on one of the houses I'd viewed, and a day later, as I waited at the airport for my flight, the offer was accepted.
    A little more than a week ago, I moved here with everything I have, and I can't wait to see what God has in store for me. :) Running completely on faith is very hard to do, and I often fail miserably... but whenever I've done it, the results have been phenomenal. Praise be to God!

    The more I watched this episode the more I loved it. I felt like the Holy Spirit was talking to me through the conversation you two were having. Before I type up a prayer, I want to mention that I would love it if you, Matt and your team, set up a fan mail or online fan mail way for us to reach out to you so that I and others could thank you for the work each and one of you do at Pints With Aquinas.
    In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit;
    Thank you Lord for Matt, thank you for Father John, thank you for Neil and everyone else who works at Pints With Aquinas whom I do not know. Thank you Lord for bringing these people into my life even if it is only vicariously and through this medium of the internet. Thank you for speaking to me through the conversations on this website. Thank you for showing me a light in this dark world. Thank you for using the means of this world to your advantage, to speak to me and many others. Thank you Jesus for your mercy, for your sacrifice, and especially for your love. I delight in the love you have for all of us. I am humbled by your love, I find peace and security in your love. I thank you for Matt, his team, and his guests for helping me become closer to understanding and feeling your love on a personal level that I would not know without them. Though I have never met any of them or the people who I watch Matt and his guests with, I thank you for each and every one of his guests and his viewers. Together we are going through this journey of life in our own way. Please help me bring what I learn and bring the voice you speak to me through this podcast to lighten the world around me. I am so grateful. Give me the strength and the courage to be myself with all my faults, knowing that you love me nonetheless and work through me to bring a light into this world. Thank you Lord for renewing my spirit through your sacrifice, through the Eucharist, through you love and mercy. Help me and each one of us become closer to You and help us bring those around us closer to You in however we can. Work through our faults, work through our oddities, work through our strengths to bring Your love and Your light into this world. For Your love and for Your glory I pray for each and every one of us and everyone we connect we, I want to pray for.
    In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

    1:17:00 Matt, this comment truly made me tear up. Life becomes so much more beautiful when you meet new people and can see their uniqueness and beauty that they bring into the world. You can see God's perfection in humanity and his children. This is exactly why I love being a travel nurse. Getting to meet so many different people each with their own stories of life just makes life so much sweeter. You learn to love a new person for who they are and what they experience. This conversation was so wholesome and thought provoking. Definitely one of my favorite so far!!

    Talking about getting comfortable with our quirks and idiosyncrasies, remember with how much appreciation you just talked about Chesterton! You know the guy who carried around a sword, liked wearing capes, and forgot all his essentials on trips if he didn't have his wife's help? We all value his genius and gain from it, but love him for his quirkiness.

    Loved this conversation, Matt, for so many reasons.
    As someone with theatre training who has also mostly given it up because the only opportunities to participate are in conflict with the faith, I’d love to hear a conversation with a guest - either Fr. John or someone else - about how Catholics can navigate or reclaim the arts instead of continuing to be edged out.

    Shakespeare is Amazing! I read Hamlet in high school. It was incredible. In the scene where Ophelia went mad. She collected flowers in a bouquet and if you read the bouquet you knew what she was feeling and what she was going to do. The poppies told her plan, the poppies represented death. Fennel and Columbine, she was deceived. Daisy innocents, Rue bitterness, ... ... Hamlet wanted revenge for his father and he let Ophelia suffer in the process.

    As a Brit two of my favorite female comics were French and Saunders who had their heyday in the 1990s. Especially Jennifer Saunders who wrote and starred in "Absolutely Fabulous" which is one of the funniest and most well written sit-coms ever All the main characters were female too. Basically you react hydrogen peroixier with specific types of organic coumpound with a double bond (eg ethylene). the hydrogen peroxide reacts with the orgainic compound causing the double bond to break. This creates a radical which attacks another organic compound cause that double bind to break this cycle continues until the organic compounds have run out or until conditions have changed

    If you like Brian Regan, check out Nate Bergatze for comedy. Total genius! Also decent (but not always clean nor in line with Catholic teaching) female comedian is Anjelah Johnson.

    Why did Matt (verbally) conversation stomp all over Father like that in the beginning.

    Matt isn’t annoying but he was kind of stepping all over Fr in the first 20 min.

      Yes! And she is funny because she presents herself very genuinely. She is a charming southern woman on stage who doesn't have to prove herself

    Jennifer Fulwiler is pretty funny and Catholic. I'm kind of shocked you don't know who she is. Also I find the women who would be good at being standup comedians never seem to take that route.

    Also, Ive never heard you mention Jim Gaffigan, who is hillarious. And clean, and Catholic! He's got like 5 or 6 kids. And his wife is his writing partner so she might not do stand up but she certainly contributes to great stand up.

    • @Madiwildhair

      Unfortunately, Jim and his wife are very liberal. Not sure how seriously Catholic they are.

    • @Selahsmum
      @Selahsmum ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Madiwildhair Well, they are seriously catholic in that his wife is a faithful mass-attending Catholic and its an important part of their life, but if you mean you don't know how faithful they are to all the magisterium of the church, that is a fair point. But his liberal politics aside I still find his comedy funn and mostly clean and he talkes about being Catholic and having five kids a fair bit, which is something Catholic families can relate to, etc.

    Jimmy Akin- listens to astrophysics in adoration... because God created the ‘rules’ and speaks in math and physics.
    Not languages I’m adept at.. other than to realize God created the rules and built all material worlds based on those!

      Watching the beginning because I missed it, and early in the video there is plenty of lead room on Matt's camera, then it changes. I'm sure you guys don't need my comments to catch it, but just in case, I wanted to point it out... Because that's what random people on the internet do. hahah.

    I think Kathleen Madigan (not sure how to spell her name) is hilarious but she’s the only female comedian I would say is genuinely funny. PS she’s Catholic so you should have her on your show
