Such a shame that the Go Show was reduced to this. Kids, say no to drugs - this is a prime example of how they can fuck you up big time. Nonetheless, Phillip Island '96 will always be a great memory and I'm glad I was able to watch the guy race a bike.
Such a talented due. Really sad how it has all turned out for him. Hope he is ok and doing his thing now. They should do a movie on about his life and career, I am sure it would be fantastic to watch. Joust like RUSH, just its about bikes not cars! :-)
I’m sitting here watching reruns of ‘The Go Show’ doing his thing at Donnington in 1996. Such an entertaining and gutsy rider. I wore his AGV helmet design in 1997 - 1998 at track days at Phillip Island. I’d love to learn what happened with him. The real story. I feel sorry for him but maybe that’s misplaced!?!
I remember watching this bloke ride a WSBK bike like a supermotard, often with only one wheel on the ground MID-CORNER, it's a damned shame what hard drugs will do to anyone.
I totally agree after seeing him race on numerous occasions. I've never seen anyone better on the brakes then he with the possible exception of Aaron Yates.
Former 500GP, WSB, AMA and BSB racer Anthony ‘Go Show’ Gobert has been so severely beaten that medical staff couldn’t identify him. It was only when he could eventually talk to Australian surgeons and tell them his name that the former superstar racer’s family could be contacted. The assault happened six weeks ago after an argument and fight in a restaurant on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia but has only now come to light, such were the severe nature of the beating The Go Show wasn’t heard from in weeks. Turned out some drunk said, ‘Are you the Go Show?’ while he was out eating. He said, ‘Yes but I’m eating.’ Then they came back more drunk and one started a fight; he TKO’D that guy. “But then his drunk friends followed him home. That night they came back in a group, kicked in his door and bashed him with bats, to almost death and put him in ICU. (He) was in such a bad way they didn’t know who he was. Then when he could talk they googled him. He’s in a bad way and will live. All on the Gold Coast of Australia. That’s the story. Followed home and bashed by a group with bats after kicking in his door
He was so savagely beaten that he had to have both hips replaced. Last I heard his family had lost track of him and was looking for him. Don't know how / where he is currently.
I know the guy mess things up but he's a great talent, what the australian sport's ministry is doing? they should try to help this guy to get up to shape again and race at least in BSB or AMA. He looks thinner now compared to his early 2000's figure
Why the hell should the government spend public money to help such a self destructive, stubborn and id1ot human being? He was gifted with such an amount of talent he could have lived in richness and HE SHOOULD HAVE BEEN THE ONE helping others. He got all the luck in the world and threw it away. No more help for him. He doesn't deserve it.
His little brother tried to get a racing school going in Australia, which, unfortunately for him,was not successful. What Alex should have have done was ask Anthony to attend the schools for his input and advice on riding motorcycles.I'm pretty sure that those schools would have been fully booked out.
Poor bloody go-show. He needs to admit he has a problem, he's gonna go a long way further down until he does. What's next, stealing lollies from babies. Just goes to show what drugs do.

Did they get these picks, it's bs you have to be so careful these days, how in gods name did they follow him. He had no idea. I hope they get these picks or he knows and gets them one by one. Gutless. Really tough blokes.
Here he was still in a "decent" state. I would have preferred not to see his last interview. RIP
One of the most naturally gifted riders i have ever see...........i remember seeing him when he was testing the suzuki gp500 bikes..........
For sure mate, was great to watch. Sadly passed away few days ago at only 48.
His 1999 laguna seca wsbk wildcard ride in race1 is so epic

Seriously he used to smoke weed. Not a hard drug at all. Legal in a lot of countries nowadays including Australia.
Marihuana da esquizofrenia parásitos espíritus malos te poseen y además afemina algo pues es planta hembra y te resta hormonas masculinas.
@@777hdt bit more than just weed mate.. hence why he just passed away

Anthony is in palliative care at the moment in his last stage of life. I don't know what illness he has but he's not going to be with us much longer.
Yeah me too I got ZX7R and ZX7RR the man is a legend.
Rest in peace champion

Is a brilliantly talented rider, shame about his personal problems. Like 'noosaslayer' love to see him come back.
He’s in better shape here than he ever was in wsbk

Mike Taylor? How are you in the same boat?
easy to shoot an easy target. On one hand is Gobert the bad ass on the other is Casey a mummys boy.
Arguable equal talent. Both sic racers.
Hands off casey, you dumb

Such as massive talent back in the late 90's, but now just a wash out.

Such a waste of gifted talent. Pissed it all way.
