Haven't see a lot of favorable HH GtG reviews. Picked up MM Heart release for under 70, passed on the HH GtG for over 100. Haven't cracked MM Heart yet. Thanks for review.
Hey James! I know and I had bad feelings going in but the uniqueness won me over! But I can see how the wheat bread and orange might turn some people off as it's not as sweet or "intense" as other bourbons.

Hate to disagree but I like the heart release better, although the wheated is the best of the HHG2G. Cheers!

Great thorough reviews David! I like them both, but I do not think the Heaven Hill Grain to Glass is worth $100. I bought a backup of the MM Heart Release. 🥃
Hey Dave! I can see it from your side 😉. The heaven hill Grain to glass does have more subtle notes even though it's higher in proof. Obviously there are other factors (barrel entry proof, secondary aging, etc.) But I was surprised by it. I'll definitely enjoy them both but will probably drink the heaven hill Grain to glass more as it's more unique and something I don't get from other bourbons 😆.

I am a MM fan but am super bummed about my heart release.
It's a good pour and something I'll enjoy but the chapter 1 of the wood finishing series seemed more unique and different... while this is mostly similar to what they already have. Maybe the second release will do the trick 😆.

There’s quite a few that I don’t come across to experience, but when I do, I pick them up. The Heaven Hill new release sounds like something to add to my list to experience. Great review as always!
Both were delicious but the heaven hill Grain to glass was something unique and unexpected and in a bourbon world full of similar whiskeys (i.e. mgp sourced), it was refreshing to taste something so different yet awesome 👌.

I agree. Neither are remarkable but the heaven hill wheated is crushable and pretty different from the rest of their stuff. The heart release IMO falls flat to the BRTs and FAEs. Chocolatey and sweet but not complex and no finish.
I agree on the heart release not on par with the BRT or the FAEs. At least they made those slightly different and felt & tasted different. Heart not so much, still good, but nothing different. The Grain to Glass is different and good. I like it~

It's a palate thing. I've tried both...neither one is a true winner. Sample first...or "one and done" for both of these.
Hey Scott! I can see that, especially with MM heart being so similar to existing bottles. But Heaven hill is an unique experience and I'm definitely buying a back up if I can find it at msrp 😆.

I'm not a MM fan but I'm not a big wheat fan either I like a high rye, I do have a Makers 101 in my dungeon I was told I have to try we'll see.🥃 Good job as always.

Its funny I bought both and traded them away. Still haven't tasted them, but you make the GTG sound so good. Now I am having some second thoughts.
I'm sure you got a bottle you wanted from the trade so it's a win win for everybody! If you do ever see it again at MSRP and the notes sound interesting to you, it might be worth a pick up.

Nice review but the HH is nothing special and priced twice as high as it should be for what you get
Price is a little high but for how it was made, I can understand the higher price. I usually don't have organic items, but they have a premium due to how it was produced and most of the time, it tastes about the same. If the process they used is true (custom seeds, grown in local farms, custom mash bill, etc.), then I guess I'm paying for an "organic" whiskey in a sense 😆. I also enjoyed the experience, but I can see people not liking it as much as it doesn't have that one stand out note. And I also understand people not thinking it's worth the money, it is expensive for sure.
