Your drone footage made me think: You can look out at a city scene and feel an intense feeling of 'home'. But you can look out at somewhere completely different and feel 'heart happy'. After many years of travelling I choose 'heart happy' every time.
Yes! Exactly! So well said!
I am feeling so very low right now, the challenges of life has dragged me down into a dark place but watching this has made me feel a little better. Thank you and stay blessed.
Ooh 😔 so sorry you’re feeling down. It’s hard sometimes to stay positive. Sending you lots of tropical sunrays to lighten the burden a bit 🫶🏼

Yum. I too love the fern sprouts. My husband learned to eat it and love it, too. It’s delicious.
Yes! They really are delicious! 🤩
The drone footage was awesome, how beautiful. Always looking forward to the next video. ❤❤
Thank you! We love drone shots too! 🤩
Your chicken droppings and your coffee grounds will help your garden soil. Composting is another very nice process to amend your soils. Love the garden.
Yes we do use those for compost and want to make some raised beds with it ☺️
Also fish bones and heads make great soil
Very impressive 🎉🎉
Thanks 🙏🏼
I have been anxiously awaiting your video.Thank you and well done ❤on the video. Welcome back ❤
Thank you so much! We're glad you enjoyed it 🙏🏼
I want such a peaceful life in nature. I'm from Namibia (southern Africa)
You have it already. Namibia is beautiful! Try living in Johannesburg, South Africa 🇿🇦
@@CherIsmail Indeed, I do. I currently live in Australia, studying, will surely look at getting a poprer place back home away from city life and just enjoy being out in nature. Just passed by Johannesburg last October to visit a family that I'm friends with, and I realised Johannes burg life is too fast for me🤭.
Keep the adventures coming! Best wishes guys!
Another beautiful video! Thank you both 😊
🫶🏼☺️
I’m soooooo glad to see this video! I was worried you’d stopped!
Hahaa nooo 😅
The wedding tradition is very interesting. Can you adress cultural differences in a video or some Mentawai traditions? 💛🌿
Love it!!!!!❤️
☺️🙏🏼
Your island is quite beautiful. Good pictures from the drone. I'm a little bit jealous right now😀
😅🫶🏼🫣
Loved the garden footage!!! So interesting to us the similar things growing there. We also eat this fern here - we call it Pucha but I think ours must grow bigger as we eat much more of the leaves and the sprout part. Another beautiful video ❤🌴🌿
Aaah so interesting! You guys are very close to the equator too right?
The drone footage was awsome thanks for sharing🙏
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching!
It is a magical place you live in. Your home is also very beautiful. I know it has been hard to get to where you are now.

Hey, I'm new to the chanel and I have to say you are really doing a great job. Also your videos are really enjoyable. Thank you for sharing them. Might I ask, where did you find an island for sale to live on?
Well , I wish I could live there, amazing
🥰🙃
What an amazing and beautiful life you have created for yourselves
🫶🏼🙏🏼
nice living...healing with nature❤
💯☺️
Ubi are sweet potatos. Daun is the leaves.
Kasavah is also a root vegetable. The leaves are called singkong and grow wild everywhere. Some people call the whole plant singkong.
Thank you 😎😎
We also eat the fern and daun ubi in Malaysia. We called the fern as "pucuk paku" and daun ubi we called it "pucuk ubi". Both are best cooked with spicy coconut gravy which is called masak lemak cili api. Smashed the bird eye chili, turmeric, coconut milk. Onions are optional. They are soooo nyummy! Looking forward for your next episodes❤❤
Ahaa yes so similar! We often cook them like that too!
What a beautiful place to live. The forest or jungle is so lush. I love you're new house guys. I really enjoy your videos.❤ take care
Thank you! 🙏🏼
Wow so healthy dish and the fish is so fresh and yummy I think it’s called Tenggiri or Mackerel. Love this kind of life go to the garden is so relaxing and refreshing.
It is indeed Tenggiri! And yes, it's one of our favorites. 😊
What a great video, thank you.
🙏🏼🫶🏼
I love seeing your serious coffee preparation face. I feel the same way until I take my first sip.
Hahahaaa yes 🫣😂

Thank you for another great video. ❤ Hello from Michigan, US. 👋
Thanks! Hello from the other side of the world 👋🌎
Especially enjoyed watching you folks foraging together (nice mellow background music.) I also would enjoy video of your husband actually fishing. 🌺
We're so glad you enjoyed it! 😊 We want to try to include more fishing in future videos. But somehow when we bring the camera he doesn’t catch anything 😂
Simple simple life❤
Hello once again nice to see watch your videos , like your place so relaxing
Thank you Marlene!
Wow ! Delicious 😊
Hi from North Carolina in 🇺🇸
🤗🤗🤗
I like how you speak several languages in one conversation; Nederlands, Engels, Bahasa or his native language, just like in my household, but instead of the native language we speak Jawa. 👍
Hahaa yes! 🤪 are you Dutch?
In Suriname geboren en getogen, maar woont al 39 jaren in USA😀
Nice to see more vlogs! Oh that taro tips could actually be planted! Just cut 1 inch before the growing tip and you can cook the rest.
Yes! Planning on planting some taro somewhere ☺️
1:55 - I believe that little sign should _Actually_ read: "Happy House, Happy Spouse" 🏡😊
- to be a phrase grounded in true balance, harmony and equal validity. ☮
Beautiful 🏝️. I like your house too…
Thanks, we love it too 😊
Just curious, what is the main langue you guys speak at home when not recording for TH-cam?.
Loving the interactions between you two 🙂
A mix of English and Indonesian with some Dutch and Mentawai phrases in between haha 😂
Heartwarming ❤ The jungle footage is truly beautiful!
I've been researching a bit about the Mentawai islands and learned that the seismic hazard is high. Do you have any strategies for dealing with possible earthquakes and tsunamis?
This foreigner lady will live longer and heathy❤❤❤
Why? Because they are eating nayural foods and no preservatives!!!
I rely enjoyed watching the simplicity of your living guys❤❤❤
You are so blessed both!
Aww thanks!
Im going to try making the Subbed.. it sounds and looks yummy 😋
Let us know how it turns out! 😊
Beautiful il never take the supermarkets for granted again lol would have been interesting to know what those veggie s taste like? And health benifits of eating them thanks for sharing love love love your life
Thank you! Hard to describe what they taste like haha!
❤❤❤
much fantastic. uplifting
Thank you! ☺️
Cold & damp in the uk …good to have some warmth .
For the ferns we have something in the US called fiddleheads. It is a fern when it just breaks ground and just before it uncurls. The are not year round though.
Interesting!
Greetings from Wisconsin, United States. Beautiful bouquets of greens you have collected to eat. I now realize the geography of the island is not flat, but quite hilly. I have seen others harvest ferns and they are picked while the fern is still curled up and they are called fiddle heads. Thanks for sharing the cassava, bananas and coconut balls. They look tasty! Are the bananas a plantain type or a regular banana? I think your coconut grinder is such an excellent tool.
There are many different types of bananas here ☺️ the ones i use in the video are a type that you can cook but also eat raw.
Just curious. Are there mushrooms in the forest there? Just asking. There's no wild animals that take refuge in your patio at night? Do you play music there anytime? Can you still access any TV/Radio stations there? Maybe a very tall antenna you need...
Love ferns with a bit of coconut milk 😋 ginger & garlic
Yessss, the perfect combination! 😋
I think you should build a brick pizza oven, so that you can bake pizzas, bread and other famous European pastries.
It would be a great project.
Yes! We want to! But still many other projects on the list before we get to the pizza oven hahaa 🫣
another nice video
Thank you!
I was curious as to how you went back in Belgium with the change in diet - does it affect you?
Like many I love watching your videos! Thank you so much for sharing your experiences/ life with us. Is it possible to share some more on how you are able to afford living like this? Do you have a job or are you independently wealthy (😀) ?
That's how we cook our food-in bamboo . During our weekend at the farm.
Amazing! Everything just tastes better when cooked in bamboo, doesn’t it? 🥰
Hello, I hope you had a great trip!
Do you think Papya has an after taste?
I can't get past that taste
The Drone shots were lovely, enjoy your gathered veggies 🎉
The Temps are dropping from 37° to 0 tonight🥶!
Till next time👋.
JO JO IN VT 💞☃️🇺🇲
Hi Jo Jo! Hahaa no we live papaya and don’t mind any after taste. But we have a friend who hates it too 😆
Wouldn’t it be interesting if Aan spoke only in English throughout the video, and while you only responded and telling the story in bahasa Mentawai-with subtitles, of course.😊
You are living an amazing life!
Hahaa yes 🤪
Is that a community garden? Do you have to plant up away from the house to be farther from the ocean water?
Please why did you plant your garden so far from your house? This video is so beautiful. Thank you for sharing your beautiful island with us. 😊
The soil is not the right type down at the beach. No nutrients or structure. Just sand. Inland it is a little better and more conducive to the plants needs.
@ Thank you!
Yes exactly ☺️
@@OurIslandLife Thank you. ☺️
