What MUST be understood is that by far the entertainment industry as a whole is owned, dominated, and controlled by a minority of rich elderly Caucasians whose collectively agendas dictate their programing. Their agendas are social, political and of course economic. These agendas dictate what they project and program the common masses with. If your community is not properly represented, it's because they don't control 'the industry' and those who do are only concerned with the best interests of themselves and their own community (not yours).
