It's "Hades" without a story. That's what it is. Very polished. Very fun. Depending on what type of gamer you are, though, it might get old fast, as there isn't much driving you forward.
How the hell do we get you more viewers? Your channel is extremely pro in its presentation and deserves to be as big as the heavy hitters on TH-cam. Great review man.
Rogue likes are my favorite type of games and I just found this one yesterday. It had a good review score and I found your video. Great video you sold me on it. It seems like a good mix of dead cells weapons system, hades combat and darkest dungeon status effects. It's a buy for me.
Nice review, and great explanation of the curse system. I appreciated your comparison to Darkest Dungeon as that's what I was afraid of with the curse system. I too love Darkest Dungeon and agree the stress system of that game is extremely frustrating!
Amazing review couldn't agree more ! Been having a lot of fun with it, now entered the harder explorations and boy do things get insane and challenging!
Currently playing it and it's pretty good but it's kind of hard playing it after having just beat Hades which is one of the best games I've ever played in my entire life...Honestly i don't like how you waste stamina bars that might be my biggest complaint about the game it's still a solid game for sure though.
Combat isnt that simple as you said. You dont even talk about stamina wich is a big pilar of the combar system. You have perfect dodge wich make your dodge dont loss stamina. You have parrys that debuff enemies. You have combos with primary and secondary weapons.
Coming from playing Hades, at first i didn't like the combat mechanism because it is slow and is very limited to the stamina mechanic, I find myself running out of dodges. but after awhile i found myself adjusting and loving the game
I feel like this game desperately needs to shave off some of that beginning grind. It takes way too long to unlock even just the basic set of more interesting weapons. Given the fact that game itself has a relatively slow pace, it just ends up feeling like busywork you have to get through to "get to the good part". The frustrating thing is that the gameplay itself is fun! It just locks you out for way too long.
Yeah I am like 10 hours into the game and I can currently farm something like 50 blue skulls an hour, maybe more (I've only done a level 2 mission once). And it looks like to unlock everything we probably need 3000-5000 blue skulls.
ok so Ive been playing for like, 2-3 hours and I only got 2 dungeons remaining before unlocking the final one and I havent died a single time. Is there a endgame after that or is it simply too easy?
Edit: lo and behold there is another set of dungeons after you finish the first one. It gets way harder and I’m glad it didnt end there, as I was starting to get nervous
Excellent review. I'm in the camp of people that don't need a left brained story for an action game. I write the story through my trials & tribulations.
Binding of isaac was my introduction to the rouge like genre & now I compare most games with the amount of in game content, which is why now i dislike AAA titles like COD ect. Absolutely love my rouge likes 👍
If you're new to the genre, COTDG. If you've played a few Roguelites before and you're looking for a top to bottom incredible experience, Hades. Both games are incredibly good, but Hades is far and away one of the best games I've ever played.
This game is a lot harder than Hades but very fair. I've beaten the final level multiple times already and I still can't stop playing this game. They are both great games well worth the modest price.
Hades is a better game top to bottom, but that doesn’t detract from the fact that this game is also very good. If you’re new to Roguelites start with COTDG, if you’re looking for the next great indie game, play Hades
They're all about same price I'm trying to find the best rogue like adventure for me to start I played a suto rogue like game on mobile and love the idea now im looking for a premium rogue like experience
@LegacyGamingUS Did you finish all the harder explorations that unlock after the standard set of maps? It gets way way harder. Its literally 10 times harder than hades even though hades admittedly "can" get harder if someone is pushing the heat system at over ~40 but that's literally only God gamers.
It only has one problematic achievement, apart from that yes it gets super challenging on the harder explorations, but the good players will finish all the content in way less than 100 hours tbh. Its not slow at all.

Who cares man you are talking about one specific achievement which indeed is badly designed but that's like for 2% of players who only play games for achievements, this doesn't mean that the game is not great. Its hard but its great for roguelike fans still. I'm having a blast with it.@@manoliss9554 Also roguelikes are supposed to be hard so I'm not surprised with the low % numbers. If people thought it would be something else, no wonder they stopped it. Its a niche genre to be honest. And most gamers are casual and not hardcore. So no surprises there.

as someone who doesn't actually care that much about the hades story. This game looks great for me!
Haha I thought Hades stories and characters were great. Except Zagreus... he was so lame.

Thanks for your video. I saw this game on PlayStation store and wanted to know more about this. Thanks to your review I think I will give it a tray.

It was, in fact, worth my time
Jumped back in to this after a few months. I take back my comment. This game becomes less enjoyable the more you play it.
Haha! I’ve been playing when I’m not playing the Outriders Demo. Just got my 5th coin.
Excellent review.
I'm in the camp of people that don't need a left brained story for an action game.

Excellent review. Just what I was looking for. Comprehensive and insightful. Sold me on the game.
Finally, something besides outriders
Currently on sale for Playstation for $9.99 😎

I might get this. But might get hades instead
15 bucks simply irresistible.
Hey i was wondering if y'all could maybe make a video going over the drop chances in outriders for legendaries
When we get a little more deep into the game, I think that's something we could put together! I'll add it to the list
@@LegacyGamingUS can't wait

It's buttery smooth on Series X, I can tell you that. Not sure about Switch version though.

im here cause its free on ps plus....hehe..thanks for the review imma try it out now..
You forgot to mention Risk of Rain 2 and Children of Morta yo~
FTL, Slay the Spire and Risk of Rain 1 actually. Not just roguelikes but Insanely good games too.
Good video. Came here to see if ill buy it. Its 50% off for 5€!! Game has a new owner and your chanal a new viewer
Came onto game pass today going to try this out , thanks for the great in depth review !
It’s a solid title to check out, enjoy!
Why does he say “Foeward” instead of Forward.
I have trouble saying certain words, clearly
For someone who hasn't played this or Hades which is better.

So… darkest hades?
Good game worth it
When someone doesn't know that Forward has two R's in it. Good review though just saw it on the ps store and had never heard of it.

I always skip stories anyway if gameplay is good Iam in
Binding of Isaac Repentance
pushing the genre "foward"
All PS+ gives you on PS4 anymore is crawlers and sports .. plumbing the absolute bottom of the barrel at this point.
Darkest dungeon
Yes
Sold
Funny im planning to start this until outriders is released.
"curse of the dead gods is a more forgiving game" TAHAHA about a game where you can lose 80% of your health in one hit. what a review
It’s way more forgiving than other roguelites. I stand by that 100%

What distinction does art style alone have in effecting the fun or quality of a game?
Worst game
Excessive trap
Stupid Stamina System
Games that don't take into account balance
More than anything..
Just the game is not fun
Get gud
