Great reaction ... let the video roll a couple more seconds and you will see they also have both concerts (Dark Night and Clear Night) on vinyl - but as far as I'm aware you can only get them from A!Smart or CD Japan (for the time being at least) ... and yes they did use the backward US date format, so they were all released on 11th October.
I agree - I don't care who writes songs if the person singing can deliver the song and express or make me feel it. Obviously none of us really knows exactly what their writing process might be, but we do know the songs are written "in their voices" as if they could have been written by the girls and so they can relate to the songs.
It does seem to be the case they have more input than might be obvious too .... for example 'No Rain, No Rainbow' was performed as early as June 2013, but Su was not happy she had the life experience to really understand the song and she felt she was just concentrating too much on getting the lyrics right and hitting the right notes, she was not expressing the emotions she thought the song deserved.
As a result she decided she was not ready to record the song for the first album - she was still only 15 at that time.
Only later on when she saw some people in the crowd crying as she sang the song was she aware her voice could move people so much and only then was she happy that she was expressing the emotion the song deserved - she recorded it for the second album.
Good review, thanks! I mean... about the song. That drink doesn't seem to match "MAYA"'s heaviness. 😁
About songwriting and control, Suzuka decided to write the lyrics for "Divine Attack" herself because the instrumental demo reminded her one of her favorite songs, "Road of Resistance". And she did it. Masterfully. Because she's the boss. I mean, she's an almost 26 years old grown up woman (it's hard to process it when you are used to see her performing since she was 12) and BABYMETAL would not exist without her. She was the one who decided to go back from the hiatus last year.
She is in charge of owning that freaking stage. All the other roles are played by professionals: composers, lyricists, arrangers, musicians, technicians of all sorts... But (like it or not) Kobayashi is the mind behind the concept. All of this was his idea. He has the knowledge, the resources and the contacts. He has the last word on basically everything. But I'm sure he listens to all his team... except when he sent back 35 times the demos of "Megitsune" to its arranger. 😁
I like to think about it in another way: Suzuka has everything it's needed to be a huge pop singer in Japan. But she decided to accept going this direction I'm sure she never expected before joining BABYMETAL. It worked pretty well and I'm very grateful about it.
Okay that sounded too serious... but she's actually crazy! (according to Moa hahaha... 🤣).
Until next time!

Welcome back to BabyMetal's metalverse 🦊🤘🌐
This song belongs to latest album The Other One but it wasn't part of the 5 singles prior to the album release, although it becomes one of fans favorite from this album real fast.
Just like you noticed the nasty riffs reminds to "Ice Nine Kills - Rainy Day".
Maya in Hindu myth is the representation of illusion (which is the theme in this song), so that's the reference.
Here's some official info:
MAYA
(ILLUSION)
"Reality is an illusion. The truth may be a deception.
It is a feeling as if you wandered in between the Real World and the Virtual World. It may be magic, or it may be an illusion."
The Western Kami Band playing this live at PIA Arena MM (April 1st) gives some aggressive flavor that i really like and with MomoMetal now officially as a new member, just so you know this was performed during Black Night (that's why they're wearing the old battle dress from Metal Galaxy era and she ain't got a mic), at the end of this night she was announced as MomoMetal, the night after this (Clear Night) they're wearing the new costume you can see at Mirror Mirror, METALIZM official MV and more recently Divine Attack - Shingeki live version.
They've been rotating this song along with Mirror Mirror and Believing during The Babyklok Tour in the US.
SuMetal got the lyrics credits on Divine Attack - Shingeki which is the next official live MV promoting the Clear Night of this live show, so yea they're more involved in the making of the songs and also the dance choreo, remember they're also a live stage show.
Kitsune up and see you next time 🦊🤘🎸
Great reaction! Maya is one of my favorites from The Other One Album, along with Monochrome, Metalizm, and Divine Attack.

The Cure is one of the few bands I love🤘🦊♪
An awesome, awesome performance!!! 🦊 🖖❤
I would be curious to know how much input they have also. I believe from comments that have been made that IDZ came from a disagreement with Su and Moa over sweets and Moa and Yui may’ve written a lot of the lyrics to 4/4. In an article Su mentioned writing/updating lyrics to Devine Attack and I think she made a comment before about changing lyrics of other songs to make them easier to sing. I think they also mentioned input with the choreographer. I get the feeling that their input is valued and respected. They are there to bring the songs to life, that’s their main focus, but it could be there is a good amount of them in the final presentation. In the future I hope they do a documentary of the band that gives us a better idea of their creative process and what their tours were like.
I think for a while now Su and Moa have a lot more say in what goes on . Dont know if this is true or not but someone in an interview asked a member of Kamis why do BabyMetal take up large areas with stages moving backward and forwards when they could fit more audince in (equal more money ). He said something along the lines of a certain little lady said she wants everyone to see them not just at the front . True or not, I'm not sure, but i hope it's true, or is it another trend mill type story 🤣😁🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼
In an interview in PMC vol 27, Su-metal explained the normal song writing porcess.
"For most of BABYMETAL’s songs, the process is typically to do the instrumentals first, followed by a temporary melody line that I sing, and the lyrics are added last to complete the songwriting stage."
In another interview, she mentioned they do rewrite portions of songs to better fit her voice or make it easier to sing.
lol everything I was going to say you guys said like 5 seconds after I was going to say it, but yes even thought she doesn't write the lyrics, she still has to work out how she is going to sing it, and they have always had input in the choreography, they are a team after all and work together to produce their product, these girls by this stage are seasoned professionals they understand the business and what works and what doesn't. One of the main things I like is they don't act like rock stars (even though that is exactly what they are) when they are not working they just go back to their normal selves and live normal lives, kind of, it isn't very normal to be away from home so much, but they don't have the offstage A list lifestyle getting in trouble and always in the media
My U.S. domestic order for the Blu-ray set is supposed to ship November 10.

Great one guys...and great talking points! I was really hoping that this would be played when I saw them in Boston...we got "Believing"...which was awesome, but really was hoping for MAYA. Maybe next time!
I absolutely love Babymetal. If you like the electronic stuff then maybe check out Time Wave off of The Other One. If you decide to check it out I hope you enjoy it guys.
MAYA slaps fr 🦊❤🔥
I think you nailed it regarding the song writing. Su-Metal did write the lyrics for 'Divine Attack' but normally she does not write the music or the lyrics. She does take the songs and present them in her own way, just as you said. This is something she obviously takes very seriously. No one could sing the way she does, with the passion she does, if they are only regurgitating what they were instructed to sing. I've never been a believer in the idea that you have to write the song to deliver it with the proper emotion. We have all read things or heard text that has made us feel emotional in some way. I'm sure a professional vocalist like Su can utilize that when she presents the songs. The songs written for Babymetal have all had lyrics the girls can relate to as well. I am pretty sure if anyone wrote a song that Su felt she couldn't get into she would say so and they would put the song on the back burner or toss it out.
Spot on. They did, in fact, back burner No Rain No Rainbow for a time because Su- did not think she could deliver it with the proper emotion.

Are you mocking BMC's SU-METAL's singing style?
👍 👍
Great reaction guys.
Suzuka received writing credits for Divine Attack while Moa and Yui wrote the lyrics for the Black Babymetal song - Song 4.
