Thank you for these videos. Your detailed overviews of the trains themselves give me something to look forward to in my future travel. Looking forward to seeing GranClass as well! I see they have the guilt free recliner shells for the back of their seats.
Of course! And GranClass was an awesome experience. The recliner shells are fantastic, plus the seats are super comfortable. Can't wait to share the video!
@@LonestarTrips it's my pleasure to be one of your subscribers. But I have a request for you will you please do a trip report on El Tren Maya in Mexico
It's just the thing for a big country like America, although paying for that would be seen as infringing the rights of American car and truck owners. Don't get me wrong asci really enjoyed your very informative video.
Welcome back! Your videos will sweeten my exam phase. Also I am kinda amused aboutvthe ticketvsituation. Japan is kinda weird in that regard. So many high tech and yet they stilomhave big DVD rental stores. And the gouvernment still heavily relies on floppy disks for data transfers and backups.
Yeah, it's wild how punctual the trains are. But that's great for planning filming days, as you (almost) always know exactly when trains get in and how long you'll have to transfer.
Hi how are you doing? I am onboard my first Empire Builder train ride. I was watching your previous trip aboard the empire builder and it seemed like you had a lot of fun with the scenery and all huh?
I don’t understand Japanese rail culture that trains are to arrive to the second that they are scheduled to. Japan considers a train one minute late to be “unacceptably delayed.” Yikes!!!
SLIGHT misinformation here. Green class does NOT give you more legroom than economy. You get the same Amtrak long distance-level seat pitch in economy as in Green Class. There's literally no incentive to buy other than access to cart service for non-included food options. No lounge access. Economy is still a great option.
Actually not misinformation. Green Class DOES give more leg room. As per the JR Hokkaido release on the H5 trainsets, which seating-wise are identical to the E5s, Green Car seats offer 1160mm of seat pitch, while standard car seats offer 1040mm. Additionally, the E5 release on Gran Class from JR East states green and gran class have 1160 and 1300mm of pitch respectively, which matches the numbers found in the H5 release, thus confirming the E5=H5 seating. Thanks! I too would love to see Geoff head over to Japan. There's so much railway for him to explore, and a lot of the obscure, privately owned railways would fit great with his content.
There are accessible seats throughout the train, and the aisles are wide enough for wheelchairs or mobility devices. Unfortunately there isn't any food or drink service outside of GranClass, but the station convenience stores have a ton of great options for super cheap. At larger stations, there are even convenience stores on the platforms, so you don't even have to enter the main station to grab something to eat or drink.
This is one of the reasons why i want to go to Japan. I would LOVE to ride one of these amazing trains. If anyone from Japan sees this, 早く日本に来たい!

it actually sounds like a plane flying by. so, so cool
That speed is insane!!!
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed!
I'm sure you can load shinkensen tickets onto your Suica just like with SmartEX?
6:07 so the acceleration in train sim isn't that far off? lol. Fekt a little extreme gow fast it accelerates.

Even with a high speed rail system, we will STILL need our cars/trucks for everyday use.

It's because Japan has a "world-famous" adult entertainment industry, so this may explain the DVD/Blu-ray rental store thing... 😏
I find it funny that Japan make a complete fuss all because a train runs a few seconds late
Exactly what we do in the U.K 😂.

It's attention to detail, accepting late or early running trains would be the tip of the iceberg.

Why would this be problematic?

Your video is very fine, but I still want Geoff Marshall would visit Japan and do his signature Geoff Marshall-style talk-and-smile rail videos.

This doesn't look like it accommodates disabled passengers. What about food or snacks?

There were disabled toilets so I think it must.
