Eddie and Alex played jazz on the boat over here with their dad, got to sit at the captains table. Those two boys have always been special. Props to their mom, Eugenia was a hell of a mom to raise those two prodigies.
The "1984" album was the best that Van Halen ever made. EVERY SONG WAS A HIT. The last song is my favorite....house of pain. It's so frenetic and full of energy. You can skip your cup of coffee in the morning and just listen the House of Pain.
It feels good doesn't it Eddie and those guys were on some next level shit all the time you would be wasting your time trying to figure out what was coming next
Oh man, the best experience you'll get by listening this very "1984" album back to back, song by song, in its entirety! It's what's called "album rock" man! Led Zeppelin taught this to us from their very first album to the last, and even The Beatles already did that back in the day! And an album doesn't even need to be conceptual in order to be a Monolyth Masterpiece!
Always loved that riff at the beginning! Then the song kicks in and it gets even better! Ed's outro solo is probably one of the best released on an album! And this is considered a deep cut? RIP Ed. VH 4ever!
This one and Top Jimmy are bangers! (Wait until you hear the beat drop behind the solo in Top Jimmy!) But then so are House of Pain and I’ll Wait, and Hot for Teacher, and Girl Gone Bad…pretty much the whole album is a masterpiece!
Mugsy, I am enjoying the heck out your Van Halen reactions! You are introducing me to some of their stuff I’ve never heard. You see back in the day I was poor and didn’t buy every one of their albums. And of course they only played of few songs from an album on FM radio. I love this song. I have to agree with you about Eddie as you eloquently said, flexing. 😂 I remember how I was introduced to them, I purchased an album from a store we had in NY called Korvettes. Well they were giving out 45 records with any album purchase. In case you dont know, 45’s were smaller disk that had only two songs on it. One on the front and another on tge back. 45’s played a slower speed than an album on your turntable. The 45 was Van Halen. I had never heard them before. This is when the band first came out. The two songs were eruption and running with the devil. Well when I got home and put the 45 on my player and I was blown away. I had never heard anything like it before. I was hooked and purchased their first album.
I still contend the unsung hero of Van Halen is Michael Anthony (the bass player) ... in addition to keeping the bottom end tight, he's also all those higher vocal harmonies you hear in the background that make Dave (and later Sammy) sound so damn good.
A lot of the songs off "1984" album were pre-written. Eddie had done the soundtrack for the movie "The Wild Life" (1984). Listen to the sound track (it's on youtube) and you will hear riffs from half of the 1984 album, not the songs, but the riffs.
hey M, I used to have the cover of the album in an oversized poster on my wall as a teenage kid, my neighbor used to manage Tower Records out here in SoCal, and I used to get all the promo posters for all the new releases of bands I liked...
Mugnify if you check out videos of Van Halen playing this during the last tour in 2015 Eddie was on fire and would often change up the soloing at the end and improvise every night.....plus it is just amazing to watch the King at work.
Wow another one of my favorites I didn't get notified for this I don't get this. I'm just going to check everyday. Been working a lot but I didn't even know you looked at this album at this album
Eddie and Alex played jazz on the boat over here with their dad, got to sit at the captains table. Those two boys have always been special. Props to their mom, Eugenia was a hell of a mom to raise those two prodigies.
The greatest American rock band of all time!! 1984 is Edward's masterpiece!!
The greatest rock band of all time, American or otherwise. 🤘🏻😎
The greatest rock band ever! Absolutely! 🤘
They were the shit for sure !
Yessss! 1984 is the best album with Dave, and Balance is the best one with Sammy! They ROCK! R.I.P. Eddie...
The one and only king Edward Van Halen!!!!
That outro solo could arguably be Eddie’s best..technically, otherworldly 🤘
Always loved that!
and its sister solo on Summer nights
Dave knew EXACTLY what kind of vocal delivery was needed to complement Ed’s guitar greatness. Ed & Dave = rock’s greatest duo.
Yep, that's Eddie riding the groove like only Eddie could do. The whole band knew how to swing. Great tune, great reaction!
And yes. Van Halen swagger in its purest form.
Ccccrrrrruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuunnnchh !!!!
I like when Dave sings "Nice white teeth, Betty Boop". It always cracks me up.
You need to hear this on your own time on a hot summer day when you're feeling good about sh.
My favorite song off this album by a long shot.
Eddie and Alex played jazz on the boat over here with their dad, got to sit at the captains table. Those two boys have always been special. Props to their mom, Eugenia was a hell of a mom to raise those two prodigies.
Ed’s mom would complain about his high pitch screeching on his guitar. Ed says that high pitched squealing payed for your house.😂

Ya know, the more Van Halen reactions that I see you do, there sure are a lot of #1s that you have! 😂
The solo at the end may be my favorite EVH solo
One of my favorites from Van Halen with DLR, you are getting ready to hit another with Girl Gone Bad.
all that head banging made me a subscriber! LMAO. How can you NOT move to this groove??
It feels good doesn't it Eddie and those guys were on some next level shit all the time you would be wasting your time trying to figure out what was coming next
One of my favorite VH tracks of all time… Eddie rips
So much crunch on that guitar... simply awesome.
One of my favorite rythms Edward ever created.
A lot of great songs on this album!
My favorite's Van Halen song with "House of pain", Eddie is amazing there !
Everything about this one is on point and the lyrics are hilarious! improves my mood every time 🤣
The Guitar Riffs in This are Unique and Groovy!!!
Ah man. Secrets and Drop Dead Legs on the same day. Two of my favourites VH tracks. Both really strong but very different grooves.
@@paulburton5150 He wrote them on same day? Wow where did you read that?
@ ah no, sorry. I meant the reaction video for both on the same day 😊

One of their coolest tunes and you're the first I've seen react to it. Checking you out now!
When the drums come in, woah! And then Dave and his vocal swagger! Yes 💯 Van Halen!!!
One of my favorite Van Halen Deep cuts, the solo out of song is nasty! ❤😂
So funky
Absolutely love the reaction! Yea, just let Eddie go off!
One of their best songs.
Girl Gone Bad is also a great song from 1984.
Eddie said that the main riffs were a variation he was doing on ACDC Back in Black.
Always loved that riff at the beginning! Then the song kicks in and it gets even better! Ed's outro solo is probably one of the best released on an album! And this is considered a deep cut? RIP Ed. VH 4ever!
Best track on 1984!
Perfect feel and timing
You know its an epic album when a track like DDL is considered a deep track. 1984 is a masterpiece in every way.
This one and Top Jimmy are bangers! (Wait until you hear the beat drop behind the solo in Top Jimmy!) But then so are House of Pain and I’ll Wait, and Hot for Teacher, and Girl Gone Bad…pretty much the whole album is a masterpiece!
Have this on my driving playlist. Great rockin' song!
Yes!!!!

they just made LOVE to that outro!!!!!!!
Love this song
I was a dancer in the late eighties, early nineties, I’m 5’10” and all leg, this song would really bring them to the stage!$$$
At 3:42, drum “riff” from D’yer Maker
First time watching, your reaction was great and put a smile on my face, thank you!

The tone he achevied on this song is perhaps his very best ever!
For all the hits on this album, even as a teen, this was my favourite track. Killer.
Funk and Holldsworth all in one!
hey M, I used to have the cover of the album in an oversized poster on my wall as a teenage kid, my neighbor used to manage Tower Records out here in SoCal, and I used to get all the promo posters for all the new releases of bands I liked...
0 to stank face in
I love your reviews! Drop Dead Legs has maybe the best outro ever!!! ❤️🤍🖤
Ed's creativity. The best.
Awesome to see this man’s body get taken over by the music at 6:00 🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘
Love this tune 💯💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
It don't get much better than that! But I've said that at more of their songs than you can shake a stick at🤣 We probably all have:)

Dave and Eddie have some great chemistry together!
THE GREATEST VAN HALEN SONG EVERRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Music 🎶🎵😎😮

Now you get it, funky and hard! I always heard this as Eddie’s Allan Holdsworth inspired treat!
My favorite song on the 1984 album.
Mugnify if you check out videos of Van Halen playing this during the last tour in 2015 Eddie was on fire and would often change up the soloing at the end and improvise every night.....plus it is just amazing to watch the King at work.
Ill Wait and Girl Gone Bad are some other masterpieces on this 1984 album. I saw this tour at the Cow Palace in SF all three days.
the end guitar can only be imagined or played by EVH---the GOAT.
It's hard to pick a favorite VH tune but this comes close.
The hair bands that came after this album,Bon Jovi,Poison,Skidrow,Faster Pussycat,Guns n Roses were all set up by this album 5 years earlier !
THE PAINT STILL WET 🎉
Wait til you get to "Girl gone Bad"
@@MatthewFierros-l1m My favourite tune on 1984!
I guess I can say Mugs that you like Van Halen huh!
These are replays from earlier this year.
Van Halen also has pretty steady Bee Bop influence. If you want to hear them really swing, check out "I'm The One".
HS jammin right there. Good times.
🔥💥🔥💥🔥💥🔥
Don’t know if you done these songs yet my opinion best on album. Girl Gone Bad and House of Pain
@@johntheisen6791 Those have always been my favorite songs off this great album.
That coda is beast!
Ice Cream Man and Top Jimmy are a couple of quirky songs you should listen to…
Do THE FULL BUG!
