What a cool 'Passage à Niveau'! The traffic light integration reminds me a lot of West Worthing and Lymington Level Crossings, and I like how this one's all set-up. Fabulous video! 👍👍

Great vid, very interesting crossing. First time I've seen the 'stop' pedestrian lights used in conjunction with the road lights. Also, that right-side barrier on your side was so flexible it almost hit the ground 😂

Does anyone know why the bell stoped when the first barrier came down? Little confusing.

Normally French crossings have automatic half-barriers but all the full-barrier ones do this. My best guess is that the exit barriers have been retrofitted rather than fully integrated (like AOCL+B types in the UK), which makes sense because (unlike in the UK) the full-barrier crossings work in exactly the same way as the half-barrier ones.

    One week later...
That's the level crossings that I know (even if I don't live in Lorient, I'm french), and not all level crossings are that wide right here.
This train is one of our regional trains (maybe it's going to Brest or Quimper), and they're called "Z21500" (Z for electric train).
Honestly, I hate these bells so much, I much prefer the yodalarms/e2s alarms in the UK.

Yes, there’s cantilever signals on both sides of this crossing.

Ok why did the bell stopped before the other barrier was going down

    • @FlashingRedProductions

The way French crossings work is quite different to the ones in the UK, particularly with the 4 barrier setups, as the bells on all the ones I’ve seen with 4 barriers stop as the first two barriers are down. Not really sure why though, it could be because this one may have had two barriers before and the two extra ones were added later, but I’m not sure. I know there’s another 4 barrier setup not too far from here that used to only have 2 barriers but then 2 extra ones got fitted later on.
