So, what if you STILL have back pain after laying on your stomach for 30 seconds? You need to do a video for those people!
Thank you again squat U! This video can help some feel better almost immediately while others will need a full assessment. Lots more to come!
So happy to find your channel. TY for your priceless work!!!
Looking forward for hearing the tips for whom feels lower back pain on extension motion 🙏🏼👍🏼
I’ve got a few shorts with people who have had extension Intolerances!
What would your advice be for someone with a torn labrum in the shoulder and PT offers some relief but doesn't get the shoulder stable again. Surgery the only choice?@@SquatUniversity

Very explanatory video.. Thank you Squat University.
Glad you liked this one - thanks for watching!
Did some of these exercises and my back so much better. Thanks!! Will start doing them every day now. God Bless.
I've been bending over the wrong way for my whole life all because I didn't want to stick my butt out. My posture was always terrible too, trying to hide my belly but just looking worse all around for it. I've had a few times where my back went out, but usually I was fine in a week or two, but this last time lasted 5 months. I was able to go back to work after a week and a half, but I always felt like I was right on the edge of going back out again. In fact during it I slept on my side and had to take two days off. Before I found your channel I looked up other techniques and they all looked like they would cause more pain, so I just continued to suffer. I did figure out the golfer thing and the take a knee squat to pick stuff up. But anyway I eventually found your channel and the McGill 3 workouts I've finally started doing along with getting back in the gym, it's really helped
Great work Brian!
hi you have such an informative channel. thanks for the uploads.
I really wish you were in FL. I'd so go to you for help. My hip hurts when I squat and My back hurts when I lay on my stomach. Your videos are helpful. Thank you and keep up the food work.
Thanks Brian!!! 😊
Fab video guys and extremely helpful tips which I am sure will help many people. You really are doing a great service to everyone with your excellent content. Thank you !!!

Thank you for using Brian Carroll in your video. He has experience and expertise to fit with your advice :)
Pov u just hurt ur lower back warming up on squat
I have a bulging disc and I actually have been doing these things instinctively! Especially the lifting shoe off the ground one. Anything to avoid rounding my back. Interesting!
You are one of the best at healing and recovery thanks 🙏 i have shared your videos with many people who suffer from bad backs you saved many im sure including me! Much appreciated
Brian agrees with everything being said
Have you dealt with athletes having pelvic misalignment (pain in the glutes) that is chronic? I’m having issues keeping myself aligned after workouts… Can you please do a video!
Thank you so much for all your content guys! I have a herniated disks and all your coaching has been so helpful!!!
When I do the the lunge, is it better to keep the front leg in the down position at 90’degress, or is it ok to be more knees over toes?
Thank you again!
very helpful, thank you.
Thank you so much!! I work as a delivery driver for Amazon and I've been dealing with horrible sciatica pain and rhomboid pain but it's getting better with your techniques!!! I'm so grateful! 🙏🏾 Buying your book soon so I can help my family and friends too!
i love you guys so freaking muchhhhh
What to do when laying flat on belly makes pain worse?
For the first time, surprisingly good advice re: posture in the general hellscape that is TH-cam!
I can't explain since how long i was waiting for this
Hope this can help you!
Good mornings healed me.
If pain is reciprocated when in prone after the 30 second test, what is it rather indicative of?
This channel is quite literally the greatest encyclopedia of physical therapy knowledge in history I think.
I've dealt with sciatic pain before and overcame it. But now, post hip fracture 9 months later it's off the charts and if I don't take my dog out twice before noon we are fked she can't get out past midday because of cumulative back stress and she's my responsibility. The McGill method is new to me and I like also how it improves focus. Good days and bad but finally progress.
The good ole explosion effects 💥
Oh snap I didn’t know that was your book. Been in my reading queue so definitely going to grab a copy now. Anything to support all the help you dish out. Much appreciation!
I really appreciate it!
Pulled my back a week ago. Wish you had posted this then but better late than never 😊

I have pain for 8 months on and off in the exact area.
i have pain after a toilet visit.
i cant out my elbows on the legs..
I will try this!!! Thanks!
Amazing dude, thank you 🕉️
I thought I had hernia but my traumatologist made me get a MRI which to my surprise I had minor wearing of my lumbar discs L4 L5, and my spine and back is completely healthy, but the pain is still there, definitely gonna try this tips to get rid of my pain when y pick something up or sit for too many hours. Thanks for the info 🙏🏻🙏🏻
An MRI cannot determine that your "spine and back are completely healthy." Besides that your degenerating discs are part of the spine, an MRI at most reveals that some tissue is damaged or altered in some way that affects water content. An MRI cannot reveal that any tissue is flawlessly composed, maintained, and functioning.
reading on my bed now has a plus, thanks
what helps for me is walking around with a powerlifting belt for like an hour or 3-4, after i take it off i rly feel a sense of relief on my spine/back
Sounds like you either have weak core muscles or instability in your lumbar spine.
I can’t believe I forgot about one leg lift I always was picking easy things like that it’s quick u don’t bend ur back I don’t bend knees but able to pick up something from the Flor.. thanks for good memories 😊
This was extremely helpful. I've been following your video about how you treated your patient with herniated disc and fracture. I've been doing that for few weeks now, this video will help me further. Thanks a ton. No doctor or PT could advise me as much as your videos have helped. God bless!
They don’t get paid to counsel!
😀@@BrianCarroll1306 even if they did, their counsel will not be as coming from someone who is passionate about his work. Like you, Dr. Macgill and Dr. Aron. People like you are a blessing for people like us.
Your videos are what keep TH-cam installed on my phone.
My PT put me on a program where I was doing 6-8 sets of 15 press ups daily (and then decreasing to 1-2 sets daily forever once the pain had diminished) due to a decrease in pain when performing that prone position. You mentioned not doing tons of press ups, and I was curious why?
thanks!
For sciatica pain I do step ups with a 10kg kettlebell in each hand plus sets of glute bridges. 4 sets of 10-20 reps each exercise and my sciatica has got 1000% better...
I work in a warehouse lifting heavy boxes all day but often with boxes that are flat on the ground (lower than a stationary barbell). Can you guys show the correct squat/deadlift technique for something like that? Great advice as always on this video! TY
Lmao they literally teach you how. You do a natural low squat, grab whatever and lift with you legs, but tbh, if your warehouse has boxes sitting on the flat floor and not on pallets, they're already in the wrong.
squat university=athlean x without the fake weights or the cringe
@cagneybillingsley2165 Athlene x puts out a lot of fake information some of his back advice is horrible he litterally said crun he's aren't bad for your spine
Engage your core and lift with your glutes and hamstrings like a Romanian deadlift
Despite the first comment, you do _not_ want to "lift with your legs." You want to, in effect, "lift with your butt." Mark Rippetoe teaches the difference by calling it, I think, hip drive. Instead of rising by focusing on straightening your legs, thus emphasizing the frontal thigh muscles, you focus on pushing the hips forward.
Please do a video for osteoarthritis of the spine. My lower back "goes out" several times a year and it's excruciating.

Man, great Channel! Congrats! May I ask where do you get those images in 3D? Whats the name of the program? Thanks again! Cheers from Argentina
hey, could you make some videos specifically for mild scoliosis?
I suffer from a L5 disc bulge. I saw a McGill Master Clinician for over a year. Spent thousands of dollars. Read all his books. Had a video call with Brian Carroll. Practiced his method consistently, daily for two years. It did absolutely nothing for my pain and injury. His master clinician couldn’t even identify the cause of my pain after countless visits. Very disappointing as he was my last hope. Practiced everything in this video every damn day for two years. Nothing. Hope you have better luck than I did.
I would love to see something about t-spine. Having herniated t6-t7 and rib pain for 5 years, would be awesome if i can treat it
Thanks for the informative video! Are these exercises also applicable to lumbar facet joint pain?
Sorry if I have pain during the test before the 30 seconds , what should I do?
Do the opposite...start doing touch toes...and stability as shown in the video
You should make a video for the people where this test increases pain (extension intolerant)
@SquatUniversity I've been dealing with this exactly for 2 years. Finally started adding stability exercises and it's been helping. Especially suitcase carries. I tried the McgIll Big Three but would just end up getting massive tension headaches and pain in my shoulder/neck area. Any tips?
Go to a physio and get an evaluation in person, this is the only tip people should give online.
Don't waste your time with this McGill BS. I did it for 2 years and spent thousands of dollars seeing one of his "master clinicians." It did absolutely nothing for my L5 disc bulge pain. Go see a real spine doctor.
Big fan, do u have any video on muscle imbalance in arms, my left arm 1 to 2 cm smaller in thickness than right, Thanks.
If I have do have pain on the first 30 seconds, what do I do?
Is there a video for that case?

How about a video on dorsal calcaneal spur bursitis?
So, I had back pain for months, I tried this, and it was very effective, my pain went away. But now, my pain is back, is this time, the method in this video is not working. It’s not as bad as it was before, but it still hurts quite a bit to the point where I can’t do deadlifts. Is there an explanation for this? Is there another method I have to do? Thank you
What about movements with “side , rotational flexion” such as vacuuming or taking something bulky out of the car back seats?
Hey man i just watched your video about patella tendon pain.
Do you recommend to load the spanish squats with weights if its become to easy?
Can you make a video on cubital tunnel syndrome/ulnar nerve numbness
the one where the pinky finger and elbow are numb or tingly
Hello, i have been having knee pain for about 3 years now and i have been to at least 5 physiotherapists, but they just gave me the search it on youtube or would just insert plasma in my knee. Although what i got from all of them is that my knee cap is not stable. After that i found your videos and started doing the single leg touchdown squats. I have been doing them 20-30 pur leg from about 40-50 cm, 3-4 times a week. Sadly my knee caps are still unstable and my right knee starts inflamating. It also hurts when i run for more than 10-20mins. And sometimes when i walk i can feel the knee cap hitting the joint. The pain and the swelling is right at the tip of my knee cap.
Hopefully this is ehough for some advice on to what should to fix the pain.
Thank you in advance.
💪
@2:20 when gymbro touches down and gives you this look
So what should you do if laying down for 30 seconds causes more pain???
This could mean you are extension intolerant. Go get an MRI first to rule structural damage out. Go see a real spine doctor and not these TH-cam phonies.
@@7THxSIGNTH-cam phonies is crazy 😂. He's a physical therapist
@@aidanwerner7759 he claims to be able to cure everyone who has lower back pain that others were unable to do including spine surgeons. Yet, he refuses to speak of his failures. He’s a phony. This is why he mainly operates outside the US.
can you make a video on back/scapula pain due to rib flare? a lot of people have this problem]
Gold
Glad you liked this one
I feel severe lower back pain when trying to stand or walk fully upright. The pain worsens the more I bend backward, improving from hunching forward. The pain is also severe when trying to stand back up after bending down to lift something. It is a very sharp pain right between my pelvic bones on my spine. I feel almost no lower back pain when sitting or laying down. I know rest is important however I also know not enough activity also weakens the supporting muscles.
What do you think is causing my lower back pain? Does this sound more like muscle/tendon/ligament strain or disc related?
What can I do to help it heal? What stretches or exercises help the most?
I get back pain for walking or standing, also if I bend slightly to the right or left or over my lower back makes a popping sound with with my job the popping is throughout my day and soreness becomes worse.
This could be due to weak muscles (best outcome) or a disc/facet injury (worse outcome). Go see a real spine doctor. Don't waste your time with TH-cam "experts." You could end up making it worse.
i used to do the bendings by reflex, intinct, when i grabbed things from the ground interesting
What about if you get low back pain from standing or walking for extended periods?
The same treatment can definately apply, not enough to say that you suffer from a herniated/bulging disc but your pain is an indicator of that. Try what he said in the video and tell me how it went after a week or so
Don't waste your time with this crap. Go see a real spine doctor.
Guys how do you do pause pull ups? Do you pause in the middle or the top? Some context: i have a lagging back, i dont have a specific sticking point on my pull ups(the top part is the most difficult just like for everybody). Please help.
Is it possible the lower ribs stack over hips cause low back pain? People protrude their rib from ohp press or cresent moon yoga?
The first time I felt a bulging disc was a few years ago I was actually trying to do dancing for exercise not knowing what I was doing I was just moving my body in any direction in way that I could which is a bad idea when you're overweight lol The pain was so severe I thought I slipped a disc and felt almost paralyzed It took me about 2 weeks to recover over the course of 5 years this happened maybe four more times each time it took me about 2 weeks of barely moving at all to recover over the last 2 years I've had this happen several more times but sadly I think I got used to the pain because recovery time started taking less and less and I've probably felt this even two or three times in the last 3 weeks even though it hurts when it happens I just kind of lean back in the pain instantly goes away and I'm totally fine lol But it's ironic because I kind of already do all the things in this video without really knowing about it So either I'm getting better or my tolerance for pain has gotten higher 😅
May i ask what can be done about popping sounds and grinding in the shoulder joint?
Nice bideo
I have a pinching one side of my upper back pain when I do front squat it is very painful when it strike me it feels like a nerve pinch but still after streching I can't fix it
Extending my spine causes me low back pain after a gym injury a year ago. X-rays and MRI are clean. Both the physio and the orthopedic say it's muscular (no spine related). I have done physio, but the relief was only for some minutes or a couple of hours. Any tips?
Thoughts on sleeping on your stomach
Now please make a video for those of us who experience pain from lying down 😭😭😭
How do we set an appointment with a professional like you? I have imbalances and pain throughout my body
how about back pain that occurs when walking or standing for long periods
What is your take on Hey Dude shoes?
Well, judging from what Dr. Horschig expressed in this video, I conclude I do in fact have a herniated injury, which means I have had this ongoing for 30 years. McGill B3 as the suggestions here are now in action.
Have a question, can a herniated disk make a faint pop in the joint when standing upright and slightly arching the lower back? Whenever my back improves, I randomly get the pop (or tick) I describe and it feels like a release of pressure, but when my back hurts it never pops.
Nothing in this video will help you. Go see a real spine doctor.
What happens if laying flat on the stomach starts causing pain?
I feel back pain immediately I lie on my belly. I spend many hours of the day standing around. What remedies do you recommend
I wonder if you give a fix for pec major muscle
Yes i have pain lying on my stomach, in my lower back. what do I need to do?
What do you recommend for an internal disk herniation?
So what to do/what does it mean if the stomach lying causes some pain?
What if you have like low thoracic, high lumbar facet pain. Is this good to do?
I had a disc bulge in l5 s1 . Initially i had pain down my leg and in my back now the pain is only at the lateral side of feet not in the leg i dok if its worse or better its been 3 months
