Thank you dear friend. Yes, I did know this, and it's very nice to hear it at this moment. The melody evokes sweet memories of my distant youth. How is so much beauty and sweetness possible? Thank you again, thank you very much.
Unfortunately, I cannot call myself a big fan of Tino Rossi in the opera repertoire. But this record is really of exceptional merit and is able to stand next to the versions of Felia Litvinne and Nina Koshits. Thank you very much, Graham. The sound, as always with you, is outstanding. And the strange thing is: when I visit your channel, I do not leave the feeling that I listen to every thing with you, which increases the pleasure I get. I can't explain it, but it doesn't happen with other channels.
Thanks for the posting. I have the record (was my parents), but currently have no 78 rpm turntable. This was always one of my favourites from their collection. Tino Rossi's voice was quite exceptional.
You are very kind. Good to know the link and many thanks for your valued appreciation. It is good to know that a "vinyl" link can include records made from "shellac".
You are very kind, thank you. EMG gramophones were never bettered and may still be considered Hi-Fi today. When in front of the horn it is as though the performer is actually in the room with the listener---a holographic and magical experience.
@@grahamrankin j'ai découvert votre chaîne sur le site reddit. Je crois que vous allez gagner beaucoup d'abonnés! En tout cas, merci de partager , ce morceau est vraiment superbe.
@@grahamrankin i really enjoy old music like this, but really know nothing about it. is there a way to find any of this on non shellac vinyl? also how would i go about trying to find music like this even just on maybe spotify?
@@BIGLOS___ Yes, this is a big subject and well worth your investigation. We are talking about over 120 years of recorded music involving so many sometimes forgotten artists and performances. The talent and perfection you will discover will dumbfound you. I think you will find that Spotify does well and there are a great number of choices of performance of any particular piece of music to choose from. Having said that, it does indeed help if you know what to look for in the first place which will involve a process of self-education. TH-cam is absolutely brilliant too---particularly with its use of algorithms which take the listener to performances undreamed of in associated areas. Perhaps some time spent on the YT site would pay the greatest dividends for you at this stage---it is all up there to be discovered. I have learned an enormous amount over the last ten years and continue to do so on a daily basis---it is hard but extremely rewarding work. I would also encourage you to get hold of a wind-up gramophone and acquire some 78 rpm shellac records many of which can be cheap but entertaining and educational. You will be experiencing the music in identical fashion to that heard by listeners back in the day. I can promise you, the whole process is truly fascinating, compelling and indeed addictive ! Beware !
I agree. Sadly so much of what is called "music" today does not deserve the name ! However, we are incredibly fortunate to have this amazing technology to share all the good things.
Thank you for making these videos. We youngsters can also appreciate this kind of music. I also came from the "reddit" website. There are a lot of kind comments on there if you want to read them here is a link: www.reddit.com/r/videos/comments/fuv2bc/for_10_years_this_old_man_has_been_posting_old/
That is very kind of you and much appreciated---thank you. It is quite extraordinary how this has grown exponentially in one day---I cannot believe it !
Incredible music. I have a massive storage capacity and would love to store this audio in a higher quality. I'd love to open a service so you can upload your music to my server so I can archive it and make it available to everyone for free (with credits to you of course). If you are interested I'd love to have a chat with you over YT messages or whatever platform you wish to discuss in. If not thanks for recording the music anyways and I hope you have a great day. Edit: Just finished downloading all of your videos to my server I hope you are okay with that.
My goodness what a task---all 662 videos ? I don't really know what to say as these are all already freely publicly available. I am also not quite sure what you mean by "store this audio in higher quality" ? Are you wishing to digitally enhance ?
@@grahamrankin no I'm not looking at enhancing your audio, TH-cam does some audio compression so I'd just want the original audio, and I mainly downloaded the videos in the case TH-cam dies or shuts your channel down due to some bad actors (copyright issues are an ongoing problem in TH-cam)
@@mythic126 Well, I do keep most of my uploads in my computer memory---which is also backed-up so between us we should be fine in the event of disaster ! You are right though, one never knows what will occur in this strange world of ours and back-ups of back-ups have to be a sensible way to go. On the physical side, regardless as to what happens to the digital world, we shall still have shellac discs in 500 years time (with luck) and wind-up gramophones so electricity is never a concern.

Enough to move a body to tears.

That HUGE horn sounds beautiful. I have a Centurion gramophone with a wooden horn built into the cabinet. Not near as full sounding.
Thank you very much. Please look after your gramophone and stay safe. One day shellac discs may be all that are left.
