The most impressive part of a gig like this is the ability to stay “in the moment” while also being able to stay ready for cues from the MD. I’ve MD-ed a few gigs in my day, and I would have given anything to have a group of musicians that were as dialed in to my cues as this group. With even half the talent it would still make for a tight gig. That is the essence of professionalism IMO, when your first priority is playing for the ensemble, with yourself (and your ego) in the back seat.

I noticed that ME80, too. I had an ME70 that I traded with some in combination with some other gear to "upgrade" to an MS-3. The MS-3 is pretty awesome, but still kicking myself for getting rid of the ME70. I don't think you can beat the design of Boss's ME series of multieffects units if you are looking for something that functions like a whole pedalboard full of analog pedals combined into one unit. Tons of extremely usable tones, very easy to tweak on the fly, comes with cab simulation, and has the ability to save presets. There is still a little bit of that "tone-suck" you find with digital multi units, but certainly not any more than you're going to find on average with anything else. If that thing had a talkbox setting you would never need anything else.

I was at the afternoon Grammy ceremony that day, so I saw you and the band doing their thing. I didn't know who you were at the time, as I've only recently discovered your videos. But I remember thinking the guitar players were outstanding. And the band was incredible. It was a very enjoyable ceremony. Thanks for sharing this. It was insightful and also brought back memories.

I’m halfway through and curious how you and Dean decide who is going to play the lead on a given song? Does the musical director decide?

This is the kinda level of playing all band folks should aspire to. That rehearsal sounded mint. Totally relaxed and where communication is never an issue. Also that’s a dream load-in!

Although I wanted to be a rock star when I was young, as we all do, as I matured I felt increasing relief that I didn't go down that road--and this video is a perfect example of why. What is required of you to even earn a dime in music is staggering. Whether it's the ability to instantly play any sheet that's dropped in front of you, or simply the ability to get along with people and socially network in the right way to get work, it's a life I'm glad I don't have to live. Meanwhile, in my home studio with my guitars and basses, I can play and write music to my heart's content, with no pressure at all. It is my passion and thankfully not what I depend upon to keep a roof over my head and food on the table. All of this is also my way of saying how much I respect musicians like Tim. He walks the walk.

Better believe it, I did it for 6 months in my early 20's, toured with a Band, easier ways to make a living, why spoil something you enjoy, by having to do it as a Job, the same reasons, I didnt pursue being a Porn Star.

Good Evening TIM! . . I've been catching your Videos off and on for awhile. (Rick Beato etc.) You probably don't remember me from Albuquerque. I'm Philip Pacheco and I was a student of STEVE's for a number of years. I use to catch your gigs around town and you can count me as one of your biggest fans in those days! Now it's a pleasure to view your Success and volumes of music and stories of your Career Highlights. Thank You for being who you are!! Phil

The beginning kind of reminds me of when I took my daughter and her friend to see some forever touring American band in the uk (I waited outside) and found myself in the very unglamorous carpark drinking a beer with the support band. Bit weird as I hear them on the radio a lot now.

This was very cool, Tim, thanks so much. I got to work with keyboardist Wally Minko as an audio/visualist almost weekly - we both went to the same church in West Hills - and for an amateur musician/guitar hack, just working the booth was a thrill and an education. He arranged and performed a Christmas show yearly that was always a sell-out. He'd pull in a bunch of his A-list friends, and it was a mini-version of just what you showed here - pure outstanding pro musicianship.
