Speed, precision, shownmanship, and all around talent. You have all the qualities of a great drummer and theres no use responding to ignorant comments like the ones left to you. What do you have to prove to them anyways? You were good enough to go through a panel of judges and look how far you got. Let everyone hate on what is obviously talent.
That was one of the Best performances I've ever seen. I like the way Anthony tells a story during his solos. It's not just fills and rolls, it's actually something the audience can get into. Very Entertaining!!! Great Job Anthony!!!!!
Ummmmm this is my solo. For those who see this video, I want u guys to know that this edit is false. They took my foot out in a number of parts!!!! This is wrong!!!!
@TheMmitchel you got a point .. i think the problem was that he kind of made the same thing like flood a few years before .. or one year before?? messing with a well know melodic pattern.
let the people hate man solid playing!! i wish my fingers were developed like yours but no matter what exercise i do idk they aren't coming together... but solid playing really was digging this video and groove!!!! how drumming should be solid and groovy with passion!
Love It!!! This dude is VERY talented! God has truly BLESSED this young man with a wonderful gift!!! His time WILL come when he will shine above all others and be able to really show others what he is really capable of doing! This was jus a taste of what he can do... And for the Guitar Center to hate on his talent n take his foot out.. was low n dirty... but it cool... Anthony time is coming... and i mean coming SOON!!!! ha
MF WOW....gifted, so dang gifted...best solo I have have seen...and by far the best ending.....may his career be bountiful...for we will all be blessed.
A thumb for you man. One of few that kept me entertained and amazed throughout, one of a handful that I actually finished lol. Stick flips and cymbal hats wouldn't exist in these types of videos if showmanship wasn't one of the main things they were judging you on, yeah you dropped a stick near the beginning, but kept it going. Ignore haters, you got my attention and I'm ADD!
I don't know if anyone's noticed, but when he's playing that beat on 0:56, you can hear him (and see him) pull the snare level back and forth to make that beat.
if you want to talk about winners - Eric Moore (Suicidal Tendencies), Chris Coleman (Prince, Beyonce, among others), Jerome Flood (Musiq Soulchild), Ramon Sampson ("AI"). However, the most recent winners have been mostly about tricks and showing off, sadly that's what it's been taking to win.
@ronied125 That video of Eric Moore is from the following year after he won. he was performing as a special guest thats why he was able to use sound effects. That wasnt the actual solo that he won with.
Idc what nobody says Anthony Burns is a beast on kit!!! The ones that are talking trash I bet hundred dollars y'all can't play nothing and if y'all can I bet y'all suck...Keep doing yo thing Anthony sounding great!!!
Man this was so long ago.....lol I don’t think the same way.....this was a fun year. Well.....if anyone would like to stay connected and see the things that I’m doing, please subscribe to my channel th-cam.com/users/Aburnz11 . You can visit my website @ www.tbeatzburns.com (I HAVE DRUMLESS TRACKS AVAILABLE FOR ALL DRUMMERS TO GROWN MUSICALLY)....thank you all so much for the kind words and tips to be better. -ANTHONY BURNS 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
@Aburnz11 Burnz... wicked cool performance. Don't waste your time responding to people who can't appreciate the talent. Just let your playing do the talking. Fantastic performance!
It's ridiculous to have just ONE winner take all the glory and recognition in the current Drum-Off. There's just too many great players in the final mix. Why not have a medal system like the Olympics so the 2nd and 3rd finishers get some REAL recognition, too. Like, HOW did this guy NOT win it all?
@kingvincedrums While I agree with you, I believe the Drum Off has always kinda been like that. Donnie Marple and Eric Moore (not saying they can't play, because obviously they can) also used "tricks" in their solos as well. Both Marple and Eric Moore used stick flips/twirls (Moore also used electronic sound effects). I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you, but I think the showmanship aspect has always been there even before the last two years.
@kingvincedrums This might come as a sad truth to some, but the ability to put out a good show is very important for musicians. Seen on stage, a better performing artists with average skill can in many cases be more fun then a high level player with bad performance ability (such as not smiling, looking bored, looking down at the stage..). Now days schools for modern music rate musicians also by the level in which they perform.
@brueck4 Nah i agree with you on that one... this dude smashed it! i think it was the few minor any may i add, amazingly saved errors... most drummers would have lost the plot when they dropped a stick or missed the end of a fill... but it was amazing
@JAMESHARTDRUMS For sure, I think this guy was way more creative, and had great limb independence (Although Isaias did as well). But seriously, the phrase at 4 minutes alone was enough to sell.
@kingvincedrums ......this guy can actually play though. His timing..syncopation..and grooving felt waaaayyyy better and was waaayyy more clean than a lot of the past winners. If you ask me.....he should of won! Just goes to show how gimmick based the competition is!
JP has been in a few drum magazines since winning. These guys are still amateurs and young. This is not the last we will see out of some if not most of these guys.
The first video I ever seen of Mr. Burns. And I got hooked

Whoever tuned those toms did a great job!
really awesome.......... i like his drumming and style too really really fantastic

I have just went back and rewatched all the drum-off prior to the octopads and they are SO MUCH BETTER!

Epic intro and ending!
Ummmmm this is my solo. For those who see this video, I want u guys to know that this edit is false. They took my foot out in a number of parts!!!! This is wrong!!!!

I Like this dude...Snare is lovely..even the sound of the toms was yumm..
@TheMmitchel you got a point .. i think the problem was that he kind of made the same thing like flood a few years before .. or one year before?? messing with a well know melodic pattern.

These guys are all incredible, it seems our drumming brothers from the US take there art very seriously!
MF WOW....gifted, so dang gifted...best solo I have have seen...and by far the best ending.....may his career be bountiful...for we will all be blessed.

Brincando de tocar bateria !!! Tem muito talento !!!
I don't know if anyone's noticed, but when he's playing that beat on 0:56, you can hear him (and see him) pull the snare level back and forth to make that beat.
Very nice. Fun to watch.
He should of one, great showmanship, chops, time and rhythm.
ohhh... este solo si tiene de todo un poco!!! como tocas men!!!
He killed it forreal!!
Damn dude!! Monster for sure!!

WOW!! i gotta say. Bravo!
really good!
seeing the drummer off finalist just encourage me to practice more...
@ronied125 That video of Eric Moore is from the following year after he won. he was performing as a special guest thats why he was able to use sound effects. That wasnt the actual solo that he won with.

great feeling that this kid have
the drumming was so good that I forgot he had beads in his hair
they need to have a drum off between all the past winners and finalist. That would be interesting
Man this was so long ago.....lol I don’t think the same way.....this was a fun year. And style too!
The winner in my opinion.

we will be seeing a lot more of Anthony Burns :)
Representing Michigan!!
esse batera é demais......
amazing.
mann t a beast he was the best one
damn fine soundsing tombs!!!!
The fact that this TH-cam is my younger brothers, and all you play 4/4 on your drum covers is pretty sick.
@Muzikmaker77 Oh wow. Did not know that. Well, that changes everything. Haha. Thanks for letting me know.
This kid was better and more creative then the winner that year.
Yea
you can see pearl badge a couple of seconds…i think it's kinda limited edtion snare because of the round badge! :)
Yea GC did edit out his kicks , 2:11, 3:55, 4:05 and 4:12 right before the cymbal hats
Holy crap, I think I'm wearing that exact shirt right now.
you killed it cuz
YEAH THIS DUDE SHOULD HAVE WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@kingvincedrums While I agree with you, I believe the Drum Off has always kinda been like that. Him and Chris Coleman in a battle will be quite a sight to see. they have similar chops
All of the finalist deserve to be there, but my fav is Clyde!
@jangel2771 U gotta throw on some good headfones to hear it. U'll hear the bass leaking thru the other mics. It might be a bad mic or something too.
he had the most fun out of that kit.
Nice Catch!
Very Crazy! Too!

holly shit, true talent
Haha ok, i typed that comment before 4:20. But this guys still the man, awsome feel and rhythm.
This guy needed to win..
@BsNoMo Agreed. This guy is insane!
@brueck4 Nah i agree with you on that one... this dude smashed it! i think it was the few minor any may i add, amazingly saved errors... most drummers would have lost the plot when they dropped a stick or missed the end of a fill... but it was amazing
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WINNER, BUT IF I WAS A JUDGE THIS BROTHER WOULD HAVE WON. HE JUST PLAYED THE NUTS AND BOLTS OUT OF THAT DRUMSET!!!!!
The winner Isaias Gill is extremely good too, but I liked this guy's performance so much more.
WOOOOOOW
0:52 nice hands and reaction to droppin' that stick! didn't miss a beat either!
why the fuck would anyone hate this guy??? dude is fucking incredible! what the fuck is wrong with people these days...
Use headphones and you will hear it........
simplismete esplendido
Best ive ever heard in my life...btr than chris coleman
@JAMESHARTDRUMS For sure, I think this guy was way more creative, and had great limb independence (Although Isaias did as well). But seriously, the phrase at 4 minutes alone was enough to sell.
@Aburnz11 dont worry cuz, i honestly thought u had the best one out of all of em this year. dont let the haters get to u
@kingvincedrums ......this guy can actually play though. His timing..syncopation..and grooving felt waaaayyyy better and was waaayyy more clean than a lot of the past winners. If you ask me.....he should of won! Just goes to show how gimmick based the competition is!
