Four years later your video is still helping us with the information we need to know. For me this was the right video at the right time, Thanks BTW the lights can just be "glued" on with a good adhesive. Much easier than messing with the screws in those tight spots.
Nice clear voice & easy to understand!! In my country (NZ) your DRL lights must switch off completely when you engage either side lights or low beam main headlights!! With the help of a inexpensive & simple basic relay I've been able to incorporate that requirement into the DRL system & everything is working fine & I have a new (WOF) Warrant of Fitness certificate for my now road worthy vehicle!!
Hello. The yellow wire has go to the turn switch FOR the relay. If you turn on your turn light to the left or to the right your drl unit shutts off (left or right). You can see the turnlight better (audi). If your turnlight goes off the drl unit is lightning again. Have a nice day and sorry for my bad english.
Incredibly helpful! Just one thing, so there's a delayed turn off when the voltage drops below 13v or so (which I don't like), when you drop the voltage to 0 I assume it turns off immediately? That would be more what I'd like..
Hi, can you please share link to the specific product ? The link that you shared in video description shows only search results for "drl controller" in Amazon which is a lot of products that look similar but may not be the same.
The DRL controller shown is no longer available. There is a newer one that I have used on another vehicle and it works pretty much the same. I believe the color of the wire might be different. Here is the link: amzn.to/4aG6NaJ
Best results with a proper working alternator, especially in older cars. I know you showed the DRLs shutting off at 12.6 v, but not sure what the cut-off voltage actually is. I've had cars that on rainy cold nights with most accessories on - e.g. wipers, headlights, rear window defogger, heater etc... voltage at idle will drop into the upper to even mid 12 v range if your alternator can't keep up. Not too big a deal because of the delay plus after raising your RPM s they will turn back on, but just something to consider. Thanks for the review...
A lot of these look very similar but not all are the same. If yours does not seem to shut off correctly it may be one of the accessory (or key switched) power connection types not to be hooked directly to the battery. Some don't show it clearly especially the ones that don't really come with real packaging. Just as a note to those with unclear or non existing instructions. Some may say 'Acc' or 'Accs' for the 12v + wire if yours does you need a switched power supply to properly shut the lights off and not drain your battery. Good video, good information, I just saw that box and couldn't resist.
like video that I watched it, blue line should connect where is best? . Yellow line and white line should connect everywhere as wires (+) or wire (-) of each lamp?
Hi Dial2Fast. Thanks for the informative video! May I ask: I am looking to purchase a drl controller. It has a white wire as dimmer, yellow for flasher, and blue for ACC ( and of course power ins and outs too) When the blue wire gets 12V (even for a second) drl remains on for a while. I want my DRL to light up upon unlocking car to have a welcome effect. Currently im thinking to feed both ignition and turn signal into the blue ACC wire. Im concerned that both the voltages would add up or anything like that. Also if turn signal and ignition are connected, im worried the turn signal would stay on forever once the car is started. But do you think it would work/do you have any suggestion? 12V power source upon unlocking I can only think of turn signal and the interior room lamp hmm..
Hi thanks for the information, I purchased the same controller everything was working fine but after 1 week of use the lights won't turn on when the car starts but everything works when I turn the headlights would I have a faulty unit..
I purchased the 4 piece 6000k Hyper White LED 12v DRL Running lights. I intend to put 2 on each side of the front bumper of my son's 350z. Do I have to have more than one DRL controller for 4 lights? Thank you.
+Aceplayer If the DRL controller is not working properly, then you may need to connect the power to the ignition 12V instead so it only turns on when car is running.
Thanks the video was helpful, it's not easy to find info on the operation characteristics of these controllers. There's very little description in the diagrams that they come with if their not completely generic...
Your review and related install video were really helpful and nicely done. Really helped me as I had the exact same DRL controller. I had a problem with the white (dimming) wire. After confirming the correct wire from the headlight with a multi-meter, the connection caused the DRL's to flash & flicker when the headlights are on. I noticed you used a blue wire connector(which is usually for larger wires) instead of the red. Does using that size connector make a better connection or should I conclude the dimming feature in my controller is faulty?
I know this is late, but there are usually 3 wires on the low beam or parking light. You need to find the live or power wire. You can unplug the light and use a meter in all three terminals, and is almost never the middle one.
You have to search on the entire description. For example, Googling: "Reduce CAR light LED DRL Relay Harness Automatic On Off Dimmer Dimming system" Will list this link (at least it did for me just now): www.ebay.com/itm/Reduce-CAR-light-LED-DRL-Relay-Harness-Automatic-On-Off-Dimmer-Dimming-system-/350862642608 Though if you want the unit that supports the flashing / turn signal function, the description says to use this unit: www.ebay.com/itm/360652210923 As usual, it's all in the details and deciphering of the translated description.
Why do you not tell us the specifics of the daytime running light you purchased? We are all novices. We need you to tell us the specifics of the exact products which you purchased and are using. This way we can duplicate it with minor changes. I can't find the light you are using anywhere!

Hi Sir!
Do you happen to know what polarity of the output in which the dimmer triggering wire reduces the voltage?
Thanks and more powe!!!

I have similar to those Cree LED DRL and my question is what’s the benefit of installing them with a fuse for turning them on via Separate switch

Will it drain the battery when the car is off ?
is this product good quality and realiable

I have a controller which has an extra wire for each of the DRL - these hook to turn signals? (wouldn't the DRL flash?)
I want one that turns off the DRL when the headlights are on instead of dimming it.
Does the dimmer also dim the indicator? Or does the indicator stay full brightness?
Hi like this video will this fit on my 2006 Ford focus
So if I dont hook up the white wire, I can still use the LED module to have full brightness all the time?
Do you have a shop?
Hi thanks for the information, I purchased the same controller everything was working fine but after 1 week of use the lights won't turn on when the car starts but everything works when I turn the headlights would I have a faulty unit..
Ssm Pap if your LED only turns on when the headlight is on, then I suspect the DRL controller unit to be bad.
I purchased the 4 piece 6000k Hyper White LED 12v DRL Running lights.
I intend to put 2 on each side of the front bumper of my son's 350z.

Clear video sir. I have problem with mine because even though im not starting the car engine still the lights turn on. It doesn't turn off.

+dial2fast Such a pain, dont have any idea where's the ignition and how to do it. Thanks anyway for your response.

Really clearly explained and informative. Well done and thanks
Where do you get it i want to buuy
You can take a look at the links in the video description.
where will this item be bought

I put the wires in the battery with out the car on and the drls turn on any way of fixing
Where's the second video is there a link
Here is the video: th-cam.com/video/3ktQTP9xwPE/w-d-xo.html
which wire of low beam i should splice with white wire? + or - or even some other wires?
I know this is late, but there are usually 3 wires on the low beam or parking light. You need to find the live or power wire. You can unplug the light and use a meter in all three terminals, and is almost never the middle one.
Thank you for the video. Its saves me a lot of time..cheers
Thanks you very much... your guidance was very helpful .
can use as fog lights
Oggy Ren I
hi, do i need to put resistor in the wires of turn signal?
+thak Gu No you don't need to if you are referring to the DRL controller wire for the turn signal.
+dial2fast thanks
good job amazing explaining
Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Hi, do you have a Part # or an eBay link for both products ?
Thanks
I have just added this info in the video's description. Please see my description under the video.
You have to search on the entire description.
For example, Googling:
"Reduce CAR light LED DRL Relay Harness Automatic On Off Dimmer Dimming system"
Will list this link (at least it did for me just now):
www.ebay.com/itm/Reduce-CAR-light-LED-DRL-Relay-Harness-Automatic-On-Off-Dimmer-Dimming-system-/350862642608

Very nice explanation
Thanks for your comment.
nice video mate
Thanks for you comment!
I bought one of these, and it didnt come with the drl controller. Is there a way too reduce the brightness without it?
The DRL controller is sold separately. There is no other way to reduce the brightness without it.
+dial2fast where can i get one like that because I buy one from Amazon but it say on/off
This will drain the battery if you don't use the vehicle often.
THANKS
