For what it's worth, over-spending shards with the 20 at a time option isn't a problem. The number of shards used automatically adjusts down if it will take fewer than 20 shards to max it out. Great video, very informative!

Awsome video & particularly for the newbies. Main disadvantage of Top War is lack of basic information & knowledge. Everyone likes to talk about the complicated stuffs but very few like you touch the basics and explain it so easily. I wish I had known about all this when I started. Wasted a lot of time & effort and made a lot of mistakes just learning about the basic things. Didn't knew what was INV, HP and all the basic terms. Thank you for doing such a great job.
I really appreciate that. I think top war intentionally makes the information hard or impossible to get because if you don't know what you're doing maybe you're more likely to spend on things instead of focusing on the few good things. I'm glad that my information has been able to help a lot of high level players but I do make my videos with much more emphasis on helping newer players because they are the ones looking for the information

The heroes are all around 4* right now so I couldn't have put it to practice anyways but still awesome to know for the future! I was perking out my Kat because i wasn't expecting to be 3 hero for about 6 months but after the rework I'm only a few weeks away. Slowly but surely getting Preycis up to 5* now 🤣
At least you'll be able to put the elite recruit ticket thing into practice now. And it sounds like your army so you're going to get the most benefit from it. Army has the fewest heroes in the elite recruit voucher resulting in them having a slightly higher percentage of drop so your shards are even more focused.
I noticed that when I would focus my elite tickets on just navy since I’m a navy main, I would get more purple heroes shards. When I started alternating between Navy/Army I would get higher rates of orange hero shard and universal orange shards.

16:40 It's worth repeating that getting level-3 skills for Ganzo and Tywin increase their gathering ability (since you can't see this potential when their exclusive skill is level one). I got both to level 3 a few days ago, but anyone can work towards getting the 9 skills each in the Island Store as soon as you get these heroes! I really could have used the +15% gathering each when I was working on Trainee Officer achievements! (Just be careful, I hit the hero shard instead of the hero exclusive skill a couple times, costing me 2000 pts.) That would have helped me more than a +4% gathering perk on 5-star O'Neill, although the shards just come to you. I guess only +4% is why you don't recommend using perk books on blue heroes. I was thinking of using 2700 gems to unlock the 4th slot on blue heroes, since I saved up lots of shards, but maybe that's not worth it either. I only have one each level-4 oil and food skill (but no shovel); I've been getting skill chests with Lucky Wheel after Refugee Rally, but it's slow going. [edit] I spoke too soon: I just got another shovel to upgrade to level 4 and still have 4 more level 3s among my 3 gathering marches.

The number of units you defeat has nothing to do with your servers score during SVS. Your server score only gets points from holding level 2 and three ruins and of course the capital. If the score is tied the winner is whoever is holding the most ruins if that is also tied then it comes down to who killed the most units

I just got my first two heroes to 5 stars today, Simon and Black Widow. Both unlocked gathering which I still need, even if it's just +0.10% to start. Seems weird that a navy person could unlock army perks, but I don't have to deal with it yet.
One thing I would suggest on rerolling perks is to unlock the first three. And max the one that is useful. Then reroll with books or 1k gems. The first three. The reason is because it’s 2700 gems to unlock the 4th perk. There’s an equal chance to get what you need for 1k gems. This is in the spirit of immediate economy. If you can max all 4 right away by all means. Unlock the first right away. I personally unlock the first three and take what I get. I usually get one i need. Max it and reroll perks as I hit the 90-100% mark
I just can't stand the idea of re-rolling perks when there's one perk locked that might be the one I need. Short-term that makes sense it costs less resources long-term it's cheaper to do unlock everything on the chance that you unlock a perk that you will need

I agree with points one and three I'm not aware of point 2 I'm going to have to look into that. The only thing I would say to possibly counter army only recruits is. Yes, you need 2-3, five star heroes as soon as possible. One you can't perk until they are five star of course. But 2, you need 5 star heroes in your main March for PvP and events. No reason saving 2k universal orange shards of you don't have heros to put them in

If this helps a little bit. The 30K 1 makes much more sense to me. So the first five books cost you 20,000 gems essentially The second five only cost you 10,000. If you went for the 50k that's another five books for 20,000. Of course there are some other rewards in that tier but I'm more concerned with getting the March queue and then taking those other gems and spending the mouseware such as flippy

Most people go both attacks first. Sometimes even all 6 (across their 3 heros) before HP. I did it evenly. But attack is likely more beneficial if you can avoid being on defense

As for free hero shards from elite vouchers, Tywin is probably the one I have the least chance of getting shards for. He was the first SSR hero I ever got well over a year ago and I still haven't got him to lvl120. Next in unpopularity is Nimitz. I get shards for them from treasure stores as they never drop for me.
If you have the monthly pack you can get 300 gems a day if not you can get those same 300 gems a day from ads I believe. That's 9,000 gems a month. Getting in the top alliance can get you a lot of gems from alliance packs. Particularly in active servers I get several thousand per month, and other events. As long as you're careful what you spend your gyms on should be reasonable for free to play player to hit the 30k gem mark every month or at least worst case scenario every other month. It just depends on what your priorities are on whether or not you want to put that kind of effort into it
I may have missed, but does the level travel with the perk hero to hero or does it stay with the hero? For example I have simon all set up with gather perks and will eventually transfer them to Kate. Simon shards are way easier to come across than kate shards.

Both will boost army. The ideal combat perk set is army attack, all unit attack, army HP, all unit HP. Obviously you can replace army with whatever branch that hero will be on.
Once all four of his perks are filled up I'm going to reroll the gathering ones to combat ones and then I'm going to transfer those perks to my main march. I'm doing the same thing with Gonzo.
I am using him for gathering but the perks aren't permanently on him. I still need to perk out my main March which is priority over gathering. I'd rather use all of my shards to perk out my main march rather than split some for my main march and some for gathering
I have a 5 star 120 level SR Purple Bumblebee. He has No Perks, and no way to make him SSR Orange hero. Am I missing any solution? Do you think they'll bring him out again in the future?
I'm not aware of any solution to be able to turn him from purple to orange. You'll just have to hope that they re-release the item that allows him to transform when the second half of the transformers event comes out
More power to your vids. I watched most of your hero spotlights video trying to find the clip where you said that hero atk increase skill is multiplicative. A lot of META players are using 1. Hero Exclusive 2. DMG Increase 3. DMG Decrease 4. March Size Rare (5. March Size Common). Would it be wise to switch DMG decrease to ATK increase since you always say "top war is won by attacking, and not by defending" 😅 again keep up the great work and more power to you good sir.
I recommend attack over DMG decrease only because the server I'm on seems to agree that DMG decrease is only worth it if you reach 1500 or 1700% attack. So since most players are below that so I recommend attack.
The majority of the people I see running to March sizes have fifth skill or no exclusive. I'm not sure a comment March size increase would be better than attack, damage, or exclusive (depending on the exclusive)
Even if common march size is better than a rare attack it wouldn't be better by much. Which in my opinion makes it not worth it because you're also consuming additional units. So if you lose you lost more units and it takes you more resources or time to recover. The only way a common march size would be better than an attack increase is if it was significantly better which it's not. However late game it is common to see people running too much sizes in a damage decrease instead of an attack increase but this is generally only done for players with above a 1700% attack. Give or take depending on the account

I have an app that's just called "screen recorder" just some random app I found on the Google Play store. It records my screen and records my voice while I talk at my phone. Then I send the files off to my computer for editing. But it does have a trim feature if you want to start off simple. You can just trim off the front and back ends of your video. That's how I started. Kind of tough to do the whole video in one take but it's possible

Question - how do you come up with 15 Perk Books during Gem Points? This is a fantastic event that some people just don't understand...but you can only buy 1 Perk from the store a day, making 7. Back before the class rework just a couple months ago there was a class called Grand Marshal that could unlock an extra skill slot. But you had to unlock it for each individual branch. I had it unlocked for army and Navy but not Air Force at the time I believe. Now with the current class system combat elite has the same ability except instead of doing it for individual branches it just does All branches with class research
I would like to know in top war what is the best thing to pick when you use the multi functional combat chest. I can't find any good information on which perk to choose
If you don't have three High rate of fire level 10 I would go for the component chest if not the equipment would be my next choice. Equipment is one of the hardest things to rush in this game and/or most expensive

The percentage towards a perk changes each time you give a perk it's not always a consistent increase. Usually it's around 440 give or take 10 shards. You can get lucky and make it less also if your VIP 16 you have a 2% increased perk progress buff which makes it take less shards to perk a hero

It was heavily used by only Air Force for a while with max, Selina, Aya. It still works very well but I have seen some people start to move away from it. Seems like it's just because maximo is strong enough to protect the front row with his ability

I will need to disagree with 1 aspect of your video. There are 2 orange heroes that should take priority to 5 star and perk out. Tywin and Gonzo. These will be FAR better for you in the long run than any maxed out combat stats. Sure, you will be weak for longer. But you are weak now, why rush it when you can get the benefits of gathering now, when you need it? You need the oil and food gathering perks so you can 1. get a higher rank in the arms race each week for the gems, 2. level up your suppression higher than those who have lower gathering perks but higher combat perks. 3. Level up your other skills faster because you have the resources and are not waiting on them.

Same here. I am also focussing on Precis, only problem is his skills are hard to get unless you pay.

Yeah I say don't worry about the blue heroes because they're just not worth it they cost too much for only 4% for anything gather related

When you exchange perks it exchanges everything you cannot take an individual perk off of a hero for another hero. All or nothing

What order would you recommend to follow?
All unit attack and then all unit HP? Or all unit attack and then navy (or whatever you're using) attack?
Most people go both attacks first. Sometimes even all 6 (across their 3 heros) before HP. I did it evenly. But attack is likely more beneficial if you can avoid being on defense

As for free hero shards from elite vouchers, Tywin is probably the one I have the least chance of getting shards for. He was the first SSR hero I ever got well over a year ago and I still haven't got him to lvl120. Next in unpopularity is Nimitz. I get shards for them from treasure stores as they never drop for me.
If you have the monthly pack you can get 300 gems a day if not you can get those same 300 gems a day from ads I believe. That's 9,000 gems a month. Getting in the top alliance can get you a lot of gems from alliance packs. Particularly in active servers I get several thousand per month, and other events. As long as you're careful what you spend your gyms on should be reasonable for free to play player to hit the 30k gem mark every month or at least worst case scenario every other month. It just depends on what your priorities are on whether or not you want to put that kind of effort into it

I may have missed, but does the level travel with the perk hero to hero or does it stay with the hero?
For example I have simon all set up with gather perks and will eventually transfer them to Kate.
Simon shards are way easier to come across than kate shards.
Yes perk progress is saved. So definitely use easier to obtain heros to fill perks

Both will boost army. The ideal combat perk set is army attack, all unit attack, army HP, all unit HP. Obviously you can replace army with whatever branch that hero will be on.

Are you switching up Tywin’s perks to switch his skills to someone else or are you using Tywin to attack?
Once all four of his perks are filled up I'm going to reroll the gathering ones to combat ones and then I'm going to transfer those perks to my main march. I'm doing the same thing with Gonzo.

Why wouldn’t you chose another hero instead to use as a farm and just dedicate Tywin to gathering? Are you just getting too many shards of his?
I am using him for gathering but the perks aren't permanently on him. I still need to perk out my main March which is priority over gathering. I'd rather use all of my shards to perk out my main march rather than split some for my main march and some for gathering
If you get collection load on your blue character does that only work for that character or all?
I have a 5 star 120 level SR Purple Bumblebee. He has No Perks, and no way to make him SSR Orange hero. Am I missing any solution?

I'm not aware of any solution to be able to turn him from purple to orange. You'll just have to hope that they re-release the item that allows him to transform when the second half of the transformers event comes out
More power to your vids. I watched most of your hero spotlights video trying to find the clip where you said that hero atk increase skill is multiplicative. A lot of META players are using 1. Hero Exclusive 2. DMG Increase 3. DMG Decrease 4. March Size Rare (5. March Size Common). Would it be wise to switch DMG decrease to ATK increase since you always say "top war is won by attacking, and not by defending" 😅 again keep up the great work and more power to you good sir.
I recommend attack over DMG decrease only because the server I'm on seems to agree that DMG decrease is only worth it if you reach 1500 or 1700% attack. So since most players are below that so I recommend attack.
@@WGtopwar What about increasing march size a bit by switching Damage Decrease Rare with March Size Normal and rest are same as mentioned above.
The majority of the people I see running to March sizes have fifth skill or no exclusive. I'm not sure a comment March size increase would be better than attack, damage, or exclusive (depending on the exclusive)
@@WGtopwar I think a decent lvl common march size is better than att+. Adding more units is underrated especially the lower your base march size is.
Even if common march size is better than a rare attack it wouldn't be better by much. Which in my opinion makes it not worth it because you're also consuming additional units. So if you lose you lost more units and it takes you more resources or time to recover. The only way a common march size would be better than an attack increase is if it was significantly better which it's not. However late game it is common to see people running too much sizes in a damage decrease instead of an attack increase but this is generally only done for players with above a 1700% attack. Give or take depending on the account

Hey wannabe sorry for the weird question but uh how do you record your vids and do the voice over and show your screen? I've tried a couple times and failed I wanna start my own channel for Top War
I have an app that's just called "screen recorder" just some random app I found on the Google Play store. It records my screen and records my voice while I talk at my phone. Then I send the files off to my computer for editing. But it does have a trim feature if you want to start off simple. You can just trim off the front and back ends of your video. That's how I started. Kind of tough to do the whole video in one take but it's possible

Question - how do you come up with 15 Perk Books during Gem Points?
This is a fantastic event that some people just don't understand...but you can only buy 1 Perk from the store a day, making 7.

Yes and no. I won't put universals into it yet. But I will perk farm any free heroes for army when my Navy perks are done

Yes or consider updating your heroes. During the time that you're upgrading your perks there's likely better heroes that came out but your perks are more important to focus on

Aka and bail is probably a better combination but before you put too many resources into another hero if you're working on Navy. Next month should be a new Navy hero and that may change the equation

Back before the class rework just a couple months ago there was a class called Grand Marshal that could unlock an extra skill slot. But you had to unlock it for each individual branch. I had it unlocked for army and Navy but not Air Force at the time I believe.
Now with the current class system combat elite has the same ability except instead of doing it for individual branches it just does All branches with class research
I would like to know in top war what is the best thing to pick when you use the multi functional combat chest. I can't find any good information on which perk to choose

If you don't have three High rate of fire level 10 I would go for the component chest if not the equipment would be my next choice. Equipment is one of the hardest things to rush in this game and/or most expensive

Shards are hard to get but personally I think what I mentioned falls under being more important. Level 10 hrf is one of the biggest priorities.

WG, how many shards does it take to max one perk slot on a gold hero? I’ve calculated around 390
The percentage towards a perk changes each time you give a perk it's not always a consistent increase. Usually it's around 440 give or take 10 shards. You can get lucky and make it less also if your VIP 16 you have a 2% increased perk progress buff which makes it take less shards to perk a hero
weird, I can only max my oil gathering speed perk up to 4% only. how do you upgrade it to 24%? thanks
Blue heroes can only go up to 4%. purple can go up to 24, and gold can go up to 44.
Will any particular hero perk work only when the particular hero is in march? I hope not.
Only when that hero is in the march. Otherwise the whales could perk every hero and they would be even more unbeatable then they are now

Most people tend to do attack first. Just try to avoid being on defense since you'll be a glass cannon

It was heavily used by only Air Force for a while with max, Selina, Aya. It still works very well but I have seen some people start to move away from it. Seems like it's just because maximo is strong enough to protect the front row with his ability

I will need to disagree with 1 aspect of your video. There are 2 orange heroes that should take priority to 5 star and perk out. Tywin and Gonzo. These will be FAR better for you in the long run than any maxed out combat stats. Sure, you will be weak for longer. But you are weak now, why rush it when you can get the benefits of gathering now, when you need it? You need the oil and food gathering perks so you can 1. get a higher rank in the arms race each week for the gems, 2. level up your suppression higher than those who have lower gathering perks but higher combat perks. 3. Level up your other skills faster because you have the resources and are not waiting on them.
I have pitched that in some of my videos after this as a matter of fact my suppressions are maxed out because I perked for gathering
