    We've invested in these exact same seats for our 2012 76 Series workmate. Absolute the best mod I have done for the car, and my back

      Pity that for the price you don’t get options for a passenger AND Drivers seat, plus the armrest is an EXTRA!! (What the!) I’ve installed mine in a 2015 troopy, now I can’t pull the seats forward enough to gain access to the rear, and the lumbar adjusters are slightly poo) also to note there is a split pin underneath the seat which allows for the base to be pulled up for storage but depending on what brackets you get (jmacxx don’t work for this) not honestly sure that I would have purchased these if I had known the whole story. I feel like someone’s taking the piss on the price tag TBH.

    Own a 2022 70 series, and regularly travel 6-10 hours with the stock seats. I personally don't have any issue with the stock seat, but others who have been in it have complained that they're uncomfortable.
    I came from a 2017 Dmax, and they were worse than the 70 series by a long way, but even they weren't too bad.

      The DPF model seats are slightly different, and far more comfortable that the pre-DPF variants.

    Hi mate, do these seats get you any further back from the steering wheel than stock? I.e. do the rails go back a bit further? I’m 6’4” with long legs and my knee starts to gripe after an hour of driving. I feel like an extra 50mm would make all the difference…

    • @OverlandTravellers
      @OverlandTravellers  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey mate are you talking for a 40 series specifically ? its worth noting the Troopys have a lot more room for the seats to go back the shorties and utes dont have as much room.

      @@OverlandTravellers Hey, sorry I should have clarified. I'm talking about a new 2024 LC79 double cab (the 4 cylinder with the auto gearbox).

  • @nackasadventures9570
    @nackasadventures9570 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I have the same pair in my dual cab. I find the back rest great but the bolster on the base is too firm and if you rest your thigh on them it causes your leg to get sore and sometimes goes a bit numb. The base is also very firm, probably too firm tbh. I find I need to keep moving in the seats to stay half comfortable otherwise my tailbone gets sore. I’m not 100% impressed with them tbh. What’s your thoughts on the bases?

    Hi Matt. I’m enjoying watching your Canning trip at the moment. What’s the deal with the Roadie fridge mounted between the Scheel-Manns? For the fridge to fit are the seats mounted to the original seat runners ?(i.e. therefore requiring slotting of the mounting holes?) Or have you used an alternative runners/brackets to get enough room between the seats for the Roadie to fit?
    Keep up the great content.

    • @OverlandTravellers
      @OverlandTravellers  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey mate. First of thanks for watching and the comment. So its just the stock runners with adaptors. The roadie is on a mounting plate that project Overlander makes. There is still plenty of room for the knobs on the sides of the seats.

    Hi Matt, I was really keen to get a pair for the Patrol even at around $7000. What stopped me was the extra weight. My set-up would gain around 10KG and I'm always looking to lighten the rig not make it heavier. Plus Patrol seats aren't that bad from factory.

    G’day, I’ve been following the channel for a while and really appreciate the insights on Troopy mods. However, after trying out a few gear upgrades like the Scheelmann seats, I’ve noticed a gap in covering the nitty-gritty details. For instance, the seats shifting forward affects rear access more than I expected, and not having specific driver/passenger options for the price seems a miss. Plus, the adjustment mechanism could be smoother.
    It’s not just here; across the board, there’s a trend where the less glamorous aspects of products don’t get enough airtime. I reckon there’s value in digging into both the highs and lows of gear we’re all considering. Love the channel and the work you do, but a bit more of the honest yarn about the products, covering all angles, would be mint. It’s those honest insights that really help us out here, ensuring we get the full picture and make the best decisions for our rigs. Cheers for keeping it real and looking forward to more top-notch content.

      Hello, thanks for the comment first off. I am glad you edited it as I thought the last one was a bit unfair.
      They are probably valid points about the knobs and the way it adjusts, but personally I haven't ever had an issue with them. I also don't know about the back seat room as I have never needed the back seats, but I presumed they would be just as bad as the stock in that case. I do try to be as honest as possible and if a product doesn't work it gets taken off the car which I have done for numerous products. I tell people when products are sponsored so they can make more informed decisions about their purchases. I would always encourage people to get multiple opinions on products especially when they are several thousand dollars, I would never go off one review, I would find people that own them and ask. That being said my sentiments around these seats are consistent with what the majority of people who own them say about them. But at the end of the day some products swing more with personal opinion and I think seats are one of them.
      At the end of the day I wouldn't be doing tens of thousands of kilometres in uncomfortable seats just for the sake of them being free. Once again I think they are valid points you've made considering thats your experience with them. Cheers

      @@OverlandTravellers yeah sorry bout that, had the shits proper after a few bad decisions on the 78 based on reviews. Too be honest I spent quite a long time finding what would be the right choice for seats as I live remote so long distance travel is the norm and the time it takes to collect anything ordered means I’ve got to get shit right. Agree the seats are comfortable and suit my height being over 6ft. Still Gutted the armrests were an extra hassle been nearly 6months to get them out here.
      The seats will stay but I’m really going to have to measure twice and cut once with any future purchases on the Troopy.
      Keen to see how your headspace conversion holds up as I’ve seen mixed reviews especially from TOA.
      Side note, Have watched a lot of your earlier videos and have to say congratulations for where you’ve come. Your drone work is epic.
      Good luck with it all and safe travels to you both. 🍻🍻

      If you go down the range you're still getting the ergonomics and quality, they start at for $2600. If you're travelling for 12 months it would be a good investment even just for the driver.
