    A few months ago I started doing a high frequency routine with a 2-day full body split, 3x a week. Took me a while to learn the pacing, but I've been feeling great and noticing results. I had always been a big intensity guy, and I always over did it. I'm excited to see what comes of this routine and how I may need to adjust it down the road.

    I went through a phase of prioritising balls to the wall intensity over consistency, I would always skip a workout if I didn't feel 100%. This was just one of the many decisions that I've made over the last couple of years which held me back and kept me at square 1. I realised I was scared of doing the work and grinding, so I made workout decisions which I thought would minimise the workload required. This year, my workout is as simple as they come (full body 3x a week) at a moderate to high intensity depending on how I feel, so I can still complete a workout without being a 100% or even do more if I feel up for it. This has helped me build great consistency and progress which I've always lacked, and I'm finally building past the rut I put myself in. Plus working out more often (along with martial arts 2x a week) has made me enjoy it and look forward to it so much more than I used to. So yeah, I think both are important, but maybe consistency moreso.

    I absolutely loved this. As a busy mom working full time, I want to workout using the best moves/workouts all the time so I am spending my time in the gym the best possible way. However, I spend more time researching to find the best workout that promises this, but end up frustrated and exhausted and missing workouts because I have inundated myself with too much info AKA "analysis paralysis". Your explanation makes so much sense - JUST MOVE, CONSISTENTLY and the rest will come. Thank you for sharing. Your channel is amazing.

    I always used to do this, if I couldn't be bothered doing as good a workout as I did in the last workout I just didn't do it at all. But now I just do it anyway even if it's half of what I did the previous time. I just accept that I'm weaker on some days than others.

    • @RedDeltaProject
      @RedDeltaProject  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That's a good thing to make peace with, taking the pressure of yourself to always go 100% can make a big difference.

    very well said, ive been pondering this thought recently myself. i drive for ubereats and doordash and if i go hard i can make 130+ a day and i was doing that . id collect $600 and then id take a whole week off lol where as if i just kept chugging alone at a constant $90 avg for 4hr thats $720 a week if i were to go everynight. some nights maybe ill do 2 hrs some nights just to keep the habit and not slack. and like u said if you're feeling spicy then go ahead and put in the extra effort!! nice

    I train 6 days a week for years some days I feel good and my intensity goes up and days not so good so it goes down but that's ok because I still struggle on a few reps per set and that's better than nothing

  • @altide8784
    @altide8784 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I was currently working out 6 days a week, but someone at the gym recommended me only working out a muscle group once a week for a 3 day split instead. With only rampup sets because it is easier to keep up consistently. I would get 4 days rest instead of 1 and according to him keep my body hunger for more. What do you think about that Matt?

    • @RedDeltaProject
      @RedDeltaProject  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hard to tell, the frequency of a workout depends on a lot of things, but in general, more rest is often a good thing. I would give it a shot and see what happens. If you fee like it's a bit too much rest drop the rest down to 3 days and then 2 until you hit that sweet spot that works best for you

    • @altide8784
      @altide8784 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RedDeltaProject Well I have 4 kids so basically I would like to say I need 7 days a week for rest, but I don't want to let go of my training since I've been doing it now for 5 years consistently. It is quite tough to keep up, thanks for the response Matt. I will give it some trial and error.

    Hey Matt,
    Pavel Tsatsouline has stated that he doesn't believe bodyweight can properly train the lower back. I'm inclined to believe him due to his impressive experience, but what's your opinion?

    • @RedDeltaProject
      @RedDeltaProject  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1
