When I was in college I rehabilitated an abused horse who was terrified of everything and would lash out. By the end of the summer he was so gentled up, he was able to be sold to a young girl as her riding horse. He was such a source of joy to me.
I worked at a ranch in Texas with abused horses on it...the owner of the ranch would come on the weekends to show off her toys to her Dr friends...didn't give a hoot about the animals...those horses wouldn't go near any of them...but I had been feeding them chips ahoy oatmeal cookies ...they came in a red bag...I would be on the other side of the pasture and hold up a red bandana, and the horses would bolt right over to me...the Dr /owner would get pissed!!!😂
I love this story. So happy for Coco! Im a dental hygienist and I love the spinning toilet brush toothbrush. What a GREAT idea and how wonderful that Coco loves it! You've blessed Coco's life and she blesses yours. It doesn't get any better than that. Thank you so much for rescuing and rehabilitating such a beautiful creature.
Mad props to you for having the tenacity and bravery to give this pony the chance to learn not all humans are bad. It's interesting to me how diverse their personalities can be.
The animal senses your energy. You said you loved her from the beginning and she could feel that and so she let her guard down. You loved her and that made all the difference.
Thank you for rescuing this troubled pony. Positive reinforcement also gives the horse a choice - which is incredibly powerful when working with fear based behaviors. The animal makes the decision to engage 🥰
What a beautiful horse coco is. Its wonderful how she went from being aggresive to being such a nice creature. Animals have feelings and they reciprocate it. Treat an animal well and it will love you.❤❤
I've watched Dodo for years. This is my absolute FAVORITE recovery story ever!!!! Thank you for going above and beyond for this horse! You discovered love hidden behind the fear and pain. I'm not religious, but Bless You is the most positive thing I can think of, so Bless You!!!!
Coco is a beautiful horse, and you were both lucky to have found each other. I was a ten year old girl living with my. mom in an apartment in Chicago, but that didn’t stop me from BEGGING for a horse. My mother asked me where we would put the horse, and I had it all figured out-I said we’d board it! You are living my dream. 😊
From aggression to affection: Witness the incredible journey of trust and love between a remarkable woman and her rescue horse. ❤🐴 Every transformation begins with understanding and patience. Double-tap if you believe in the healing power of love! 💖🌈
Our donkey loves to have her teeth brushed (and the natural peanut butter we use as paste), it's a major treat for her. We know what she wants because she bares her teeth and smiles while following us around they barnyard.
Erika, you’ve had the amazing ability to love Coco patiently, even when she was acting out. You are an inspiration and I wish you and Coco the very best!
Good bless you for recognizing her potential & Coco had obviously been previously abused!!! Thank you for your support, patience & love for Coco…you are a match made in heaven 👍🙏💕
😍🐴 Thank you for giving Coco the LOVE & PATIENCE she needed to feel safe!! 🐴❤ What a BEAUTIFUL relationship ya’ll have now!! God Bless from Georgia 🐾🐶🐾
Wishing you only happy days, both you and Coco! (None of those horrible ones.) You deserve it. All the work you did for her was a beautiful, loving thing! So glad it paid off with this now happy, healthy girl! Such a gift you are to her!
Horses are very social animals. They can read human body language extremely well. When you earn their trust they will bond with you for life. Horses need companionship, be it with humans or with other barn animals.
Such a beautiful story of your beautiful horse,I'm so happy you two found each other as an absolute horse lover myself I know the incredible connection you both share bless you for giving Cocoa a chance not many people would have 🐎❣
Thought you might lose some fingers for sure, lol, but Coco's just protecting herself, now thanks t you Erika, she has the best of both worlds, she has you! Thank you!
This can be done and it did!; You have to be a HECK of a person to train wild horses, I've seen it done!! It takes some time, but even the most hard-headed ones, will come around. She did a excellent job with this equine!! Thank You for sharing this mind-blowing story with us!!😊😊😊😊😊😊
I am absolutely happy for both of you. You did a wonderful thing adopting her she is truly beautiful and you have a special soul. Wonderful wishes for you both. 💖🤎🤍
As I have had my horse for 16 years now since foal and been working with many different characters and tried different paths to approach them I was expecting someone who maybe couldn't read signal or over exaggerating something what is not such a big deal. I was positively surprised to see amazing person who gave a chance to a horse who didn't know that touch can be nice and but a lot of patience and looked for someone great to help as well and change horse into please don't touch me to absolutely enjoying touching, scratch and trusted you. Great job!
Time & patience, the 2 most important things to consider with wild or even wary domesticated animals. Respect boundaries, enrich & don't be too pushy. Glad this horse was rescued by such a loving family.
Wow-She looks strikingly like a horse I used to know some 10+ years ago. 👀 Simply gorgeous!💖 So glad she eventually came around to seeing that not all people's touch is unkind and so glad to know there are people willing to put in the work to give even seemingly "problem" horses a chance for a better/happier life, like this!!! Many wonderful trails ahead for you both, together, I'm sure. 😊
I always crack up when horses show their teeth that way, something about the lip being way out there is too funny lol. I'm glad Coco is doing better now and is happy ♥Good job!!!
Finally a horse video. To many horse owners out there for Dodo to show dogs and cats all the time. My horse doesn’t do anything amazing except be the best therapist ever. We did have a mare that wanted nothing to do with us and would run away, but would come around to searching our pockets for treats and when she didn’t feel good due to her medical issues with her legs, she would be laying down to nap and she would let us clean her feet. She passed away when we had the horrific wild fires and were in the process of evacuating. But as a rescue, she had a happy rest of her life with us. I miss her nose “wuffle” noises she made.
This poor girl. I'm wondering if she was abused before. No animal should ever be afraid of a human being. Humans are the most dangerous animals on the planet. Thank you so much for saving this poor baby and having the patience to gain her trust. She seems like she is an absolute sweetheart now that her personality has come out! LOL!!! She's adorable!!!!
Seeing her change was a beautiful thing ❤️ But let's be honest, the spinning toilet brush tooth cleaner is both a genius invention and absolutely hilarious! 😂 Here's to a long & happy friendship 🍻
Yeah, she needs to make a prototype and get it trademarked. Team up the the Shark Tank people and make millions. Of course, I'm sure a good portion of the profits would go to helping others rescue and rehabilitate more animals in need.❤❤❤
Horses are dogs. I realize horse people hate that idea...but it's true. That brush drill is genius! You both are a remarkable combination of heart & mind. 💛
Gotta wonder what caused the fear in the first place, I'm guessing someone physically abused this beautful creature, why anyone would want to harm such a creature is beyond me!!
She's so adorable. I love horses I think that they are really smart they know people they can read your soul and they're just really amazing. And I'm glad this woman saved this horse. 🐎🐎🐎
While watching the teeth brushing scene I suddenly realized my top lip was almost touching my nose while smiling at the same time. Coco really pulled me in! It's wonderful they found each other. They give such good love and support to each other. Heartwarming and precious ❤❤
HER AGGRESION COMES FROM BEEN ABUSED, there is not other reason, but when you showed her love and compassion and gave her the right attention plus positive reinforsement that allowed her to bring down the barriers, food and love can win any time, horses , donkeys have so much nobility, get a large long bristle brush, every single animal I have done the brushing with love it so much, I think it sooth their skin SO GOOD. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL CREATURE, I SAW ONE VIDEO WHERE THIS SPANISH LADY WAS ASKING QUESTION AND THE HORSE KNEW EXACTLY WHAT SHE WAS SAYING, HE MOVE HIS HEAD UP AND DOWN WHEN SHE SAID THINGS OR ASKED QUESTIONS THAT HORSE EITHER REPLIED WITH SOUNDS AND MOVING HIS HEAD AS SAYING NO OR YES WITH A SOUND, IT WAS INCREDIBLE. THANKS FOR SHOWING US YOUR FRIEND, SHE IS SWEET, YOU MADE HER BETTER ALOT, I THINK YOU NEED EACH OTHER FOR SUPPORT PEACE.
I would think the greatest thing about 'taming' any animal would be getting past the initial acquaintance steps and seeing their individual personality quirks come out😊
Erika, you've done a remarkable job with Coco. You made my day. Animals love us unconditionally and to see you do the same for Coco was truly an uplifting experience. Cheers
Horses (and donkeys) are very smart and gentle creatures. I love them. Well I love [almost] all animals, but I have a special bond with horses and donkeys. And I love to kiss their soft skin on their nose. So sweet.
That's the oldest trick in the book. It worked for my mom,It worked for me, and it worked for my pets. That's why my parents and when I became a parent that we were all told don't take candy from strangers. Because it the easiest way to gain trust. If it can work with lions, and Tigers and Bears oh my, it'll easily work for a horse.
Awe, she's so beautiful! YOU did a great job! I'm sure it was not easy. But look at you two now?? I love how she rolls around, and let you "brush her teeth". What a happy new beginning for you both! You never know what has happened to her in the past. They are put in our lives for a reason! Good job, thank you for sharing!❤

It's so wonderful seeing a happy horse being well, Horsey ! 😅
Poor baby only knew pain with touch. I love people like this woman who see the soul and doesn't give up on a broken one.
Goes to show that understanding, love and commitment go a long way to help heal a wounded soul. What a great story...God bless...
With a lot of treats! 😄
Mad props to you for having the tenacity and bravery to give this pony the chance to learn not all humans are bad. It's interesting to me how diverse their personalities can be.
Watching that horse brush her teeth is so adorable. What a treasure she was underneath all that horrid fear.
'I value our relationship so much' is the key to all successful and happy relationships with all animals❤
What a hoot the tooth brushing, anxiety brings unhappiness, Coco is happy happy happy, good job young lady
The animal senses your energy. You said you loved her from the beginning and she could feel that and so she let her guard down. You loved her and that made all the difference.
That's so awesome young lady. You sure are swell for rescuing horses like that. Horses and dogs bro we don't deserve them
I'd love to see this young lady still together with her pony in another 5, 10, 15 years. 🙋♀ 💜🐎
Cocoa raising her hind leg telling you where to scratch her was priceless. ❤❤
This is pure love and devotion.
Thank you for rescuing this troubled pony. Positive reinforcement also gives the horse a choice - which is incredibly powerful when working with fear based behaviors. The animal makes the decision to engage 🥰

Coco is just too cute…❤❤❤❤. I’m so glad you adopted her and you filled a whole in each other’s lives…I pray you all have many years together!!!
The people who rescue the tough ones are my favorites. The difference they make to the world of these animals simply can't be measured.
Our donkey loves to have her teeth brushed (and the natural peanut butter we use as paste), it's a major treat for her. We know what she wants because she bares her teeth and smiles while following us around they barnyard.
Two truly beautiful souls 💕
I had several horses in my lifetime. Take good care of them and show kindness and Compassion and they will give you unconditional love and devotion.

Brought out Coco's inner goofball, too.
Building trust and honesty between living creatures. What a concept! If only there was more of that in today's world.
All my best to those that rescue these beautiful animals😻😻😻
VERY CUTE STORY/HORSE! 🥰

I've been riding horses for 52 years! They are the loves of my life!
BRAVO Coco!!!! You go girl!

Fear response. Someone was very mean to this horse prior to her rescuer. It’s wonderful to see these animals trust again. They are brilliant.
