We were at the TRS Coral in January 2019 with another couple. Our butler, Maria, who was by far the best butler we have ever had at any resort, got us Chic Cabaret tickets side by side, and not just tickets, but after checking out the venue, I concluded she got us 4 of the 20 best seats in the room. So, I recommend getting tickets through your butler.
I just returned from 7 days at TRS. I have to agree with your review. I was happy to get home. We had an issue with the rooms causing mine not to be ready until after 11 PM, then it was the wrong room, I had to move the nest day. The manager went above and beyond to fix things and made sure we were treated well for the entire stay after that-but it really put a bad vibe on the trip. The staff is great, very professional and friendly, but often tell you what they think you are asking for and never deliver it. A lot of yes-but no follow up. I have to say that the food was average or less. Never hot, room service came cold or not at all, but the butler service was above and beyond-excellent service. It rained daily, really hard. Not the fault of TRS of course. We did the Coba pyramids and a cenote tour which was wonderful. Very crowded at the resort as they were filming "Love is Blind" a Netflix reality show. They really were not intrusive at all, but I do think the resort should tell you when you book or arrive as you may wish not to be exposed to the extra chaos, as they did take up restaurant room, and caused us to have a challenge getting dinner reservations on some days. The pool was great, beach great, drinks are extremely weak & watered down, so add shots if you want a strong drink. It became very party vibe as the weekend came. Too much for me, but others we were with loved it-I am the oldest of the group, so it makes sense. The only complaint was the food. It really wasn't quality. They seem to cater to all cuisines, but I would prefer just good local fresh hot food. I would probably not return.
Thanks for sharing your review. We wondered whether TRS had improved or not. It is such a shame for us, as we really had a great time the first time we went there. Unfortunately they have gone down. Interesting to know they were filming "Love is Blind" there. They should have given guests a heads up. We are back in Rivera Maya later this year and will be reviewing El Dorado Seaside Suites ( which we have been to before) and Secrets Akumal.

El Dorado Seaside Palms is the one we have been to, and would probably choose over TRS in the future. On the same resort they also have another section called El Dorado Seaside suites, never stayed there, but you get to use their facilities (restaurants, beach, gym) when you stay on the palms side. I would also check out karisma hotels in general, as they seem to have a good few places, the over water bungalows looks great too. www.karismahotels.com/el-dorado-spa-resorts

What is the El Dorado resort you are referencing? I want to look at that one too. Looking for a honeymoon spot
