  • This is a collection of the Bills, Currency, Bank notes I have. Nearly everything here was taken directly out of circulation. Some I have from my childhood collection, so I have no clue where they came from. Enjoy!
Also, almost any bill you see here is for sale, so if you want something make me an offer!

I would keep all those dude; even the very old one's that are very circulated hold premiums, and will be even more valuable in the future; in another decade they will be non-existent in circulation, and very hard to find, thus bringing up the demand for them!

Well almost all 1980's paper money has small traces of cocaine on it due to the drug rush from then :P. Not that I'd ever do drugs besides caffiene but none the less I think these "cocaine bills" hold historical significance so if I can at all I hang on to them..I think I still got a 1981 $1.00.

Nice collection silver picker. I did notice a few notes that had serial numbers that were just a little interesting such as a flipper and a bookend. There may have been others but those were the 2 I remember seeing. The flipper does have 8's and 1's in it that some don't consider as a flipper number but others include those as well as the true flipper numbers of 0's 6's & 9's and they do carry a premium

#10:31 "Star Notes" are replacement notes for notes found "defective" in some way upon inspection at the BEP (Bureau of Engraving and Printing) plant. They do have a slight "premium" over "regular" notes. The lower the serial number on the bill makes it more valuable. (There are 8 digits in a serial number [00000000] meaning they're expecting to print 10 million bills.0 your first "Star" is the 55,241st of 10 million to be printed.)

Use Ebay to answer a lot of your questions. They have an entire tutorial on "serial numbers" alone. They will give you a great standard for what people are willing to pay for a specific bill in a certain condition or grade. Just type the description of the bill in the search engine and click, then scroll down the left hand side and click "completed listings" this will show you similar items and what they actually sold for.

You do know the meaning of the various colors of the seals and serial numbers right? Just doing the research on that subject can be fascinating. Once in a great while you may find a brown seal and serial number. That would be a WW 2 release.

This collection is likely much larger by now, 8 years later. Thanks for showing us this 🤘 I'm just getting started and hope you were able to save all those. I only have a few high print run $20 star notes, about half a dozen crisp $2 that I'm going to keep (3 sequential serial numbers and two other sequentials that aren't fancy), and one $1 bill I'm keeping because it's crisp and has a coolness rating of 98.9% for #79979978.
I've heard serial numbers can't be reprinted by law, which is why they print star notes. Just like copper pennies can't be melted down for their metal value by law. Canadian pennies can be melted since they stopped minting them in 2012, but I think that's a bigger reason to keep them than to dispose of them. Just my thoughts. One person's trash is another person's treasure 😉

Star notes occur when there is a defect in the printing process, the serial number must be used in order to keep a steady system. Star notes act as replacement notes when to original is damaged or unfit for circulation. Collectors prefer the star notes on low serial numbers, the more zeros at the front the better. The norm is at least 3 to have collectors value. Low star notes means defects occurred early on in the process that's what appeals to collectors. Also higher face value notes add a pr

basically your preserving history, not so much for condition, but I do agree that the older silver certificates were much nicer than what you guy's have in the States right now. I'm a Canadian so much of my collection is Canadian. I do have a 1928 US $20.00 gold certificate and a larger bill 1922 $20 gold certificate as well as the Hawaii 1935 note. Canadian notes are interesting, the (modern) reverses of the notes do change after a time. Both $1 and $2 Canadian notes have been discontinued since the introduction of their $1 ("Looney") and $2 ("Tooney") coins. It would be a good idea to keep any and all Canadian "low denomination" bills you find here (in the US).

What to look out for with almost any denomination in good or exceptional conditions; numbers: early prints under the one-thousands eg. 0000xxxx, number blocks - 1 of the same number is the entire serial like all 4's or whatever, two sets of 4 digits or 5 same digits in a row, trinaries - 3 sets of the same numbers, binaries - 2 same numbers throughout the serial, "birthday" notes - serial notes make a year date or 2 year dates (eg. 19542014), number order - 1 to 8 or reverse. "Flippers" are specific notes with serial number than can also make numbers if you flip the note upside down eg. 0's 8's 6's and 9's only. Missing numbers altogether.
The treasury stamp has a limited allowable distance from the center of the word for the denomination. Too far to the side, above or below it, can also be special.
Ink blots, smears, splatters, and lack thereof of any ink is special.
Extremely noticeable uneven cuts or prints of the notes.
    Backwards or upside down prints.
Star notes with other obviously special characteristics are keepers, like early prints, or any other previously mentioned.
And web notes are always a keeper. I'm always checking my 1's for one.
Otherwise, most of what you have are spenders. Even the older bank notes.
But keep the reds and blues. I think you also had a yellow $1 from a previous video. Keep all the colored notes. Brown - Hawaii, yellow (2 types) - South Africa or Gold Certificate, red - "United States Note", blue - silver certificate. I think thats all the info I can give you, but theres another channel called "Variety and Errors" where they have a pretty lengthy video about bank notes and what to look for.

Keep the very first one I have been collecting for a little over 2 years and wish I had a Joseph W Barr Note

  • @thecollector5316
    @thecollector5316 5 ปีที่แล้ว

The very first note was a barr note and that web note are really cool to they can be worth $ how much depends on the shape and how rare they are. The star notes you can look up on Google type in (star note lookup) and it will have you put the year, denomination, and serial # in. it will tell you how big of a run the star notes are in, Don't be fooled by a low serial # it can be a very high one and be from a low run. That older 50 was a cool one to, it may seem like a waist now but if my pops and his pops did this. we would have money from long ago especially paper money they take it out of circulation so fast now. Point is you may not see it again unless you pay a premium, sometimes it's hard not to spend it but instead of spending them do some research and find out if there's a premium on them and sell them. The star notes you'll have to look up the barr note in the beginning sand the web note are my favorites i had multiples of them they disappeared mysteriously when i was young now I'm older and can't find them at all. But i would hold on to what you have you will pay a premium if you try to replace the greenbacks and different colored seals depending on how rare they are and condition. Do some investigating on serial #'s there's a lot of different ones there a ladder where # are in a row 0123457 stuff like that reverse ladders, broken ladders, bookends, radars, and many more you gotta look into it and you'll be looking at every bill you get after a while. i do you gotta be in the right place at the right time though, It could be a corner store where you find a bill that's rare. Cool collecton though to get you started.

Suggest you keep (at least) one of the "transitional" notes ($5 - $100) from "small heads" to "large heads" to "colorized." (A historic presentation of US currency.)

Also, the 1 yuan you have in second last page is gonna stop making cause of the bill issue in China, which it's good to keep and the condition of you is pretty good. Almost everythingthing before the year 1975 in your booklet is worth more than face value do not return thrm into serculation because the government will just take them back out to replace thrm with newer bills almost everything in this video is worth more than face value

1963B is a Barr note. Joseph Barr was only the Secretary of Treasury for 30 days so his name is only on 30 days worth of bills. I don't know how much but it should be worth a considerable amount.
He is really wrong about the 2$ bills, I would pay at least 5$ for those. Although I may just be stupid.
