Great video. If anybody is looking for a low cost, reliable, luxury, well-aged car...this is it. I have a 2010 IS250 with some bolt-ons and want to keep it forever.
When the car is stopped, put it in manual mode and upshift to 6th, and press the sport button (near the snow button). It helps a lot with throttle response and quicker shifts.
It's the same as going in d position with power mode, in this type of automatic gearbox the only thing you do is put the max gear the car should go to.
Luckily these Lexus IS are predictable for handling once you get a feel - they do not have enough power to spin out all the time lol (like 600hp cars). The 250 and 350 distribute power well. Can't wait to track my IS350, although it is modified a bit. Shifting manually seems to be the best torque, mine seems to downshift well below 4k rpm, when warmed up. I also do some rev matching. The last time I watched this video was almost 4 years ago. As I am watching it the 2nd time 4 years later today, I have been an IS250 owner for 6 months. Thank you for showing us the potential this reliable luxury sports sedan have!! I wish I can take my IS250 on track one day after fitting a new set of shock absorbers on it.

Don't worry with practice youll get better. Also I think you can manually downshift at any speed on the gear shifter and not the pedals, Ive hear that from a friend of mine.

Great job for a first time on track. Definitely annoying that the transmission won't let you downshift until a certain rpm drop. I know this is an older video, but I hope you continued going to the track. Keep it up. Also hydration is definitely key as you mentioned. Try not to eat until there is a lunch break so your food can settle, also try eating something light.

Don't shuffle your hands around the steering wheel. Keep them at nine and three. Every time you start shuffling your hands, you introduced instability into the wheels and the car loses some control.
Anyone checked out the new RR racing supercharger? 360whp on a Is250. Complete sleeper. But the kit alone costs 5200 and a install will probably double it. Meaning 10k is not really worth it. Considering you can just sell the IS250 and buy an ISF which all around is a nicer car and a better engine

I've been hesitant to track my is250 didnt think it would be up to the task, but this makes me wonder maybe I should try it.. Mine is a manual so no worries about the downshifts. It doesn't have the sports suspension though lol. Also it's more tiring than you expect driving on track isn't it! Makes you realise the fitness levels needed for top tier race drivers is insane.
Hey i have a six speed manual 2009 is250. I will be taking it to the track this summer. But definitely not with the stock differential. The frs (gt86) fits and is much more suitable for racing..

@@VuckoHD I had an 08 civic SI for fit over a year. Even though the Vtech and the manual experience is amazing the fact that it's a FWD really limits to how much fun can be had. Really looking forward to my first RWD experience!
@@sohaibyounus Yeah I have Paugeot 207 GTI (hothatch) this year I went on the same track and put a better lap than Lexus but the RWD rewards a good driver and the little oversteer makes you a hero :) Only negative with the Lexus is the car isn't light so it wears the breaks quick
@@sohaibyounus Stock suspension but my IS250 has Sport package, now Im not 100% sure if that means sportier suspension but it came with sport wheels too, rear tires are 255 wide (factory) and front 225 wide...despide the weight it corners amazingly, only like I said braking could be better

The paddle shifters on this model only define the maximum gear that it can use. So if for example you shift to 4th, the gearbox will only shift from 1st to 4th. It will still decide when/how it shifts so they''re only useful for engine braking in the traffic by downshifting.
RRK 155 but lightly braking while turning is a commonly used technique because it pushes the front tires into the track, so you can have better turn in. It’s called trail-braking.
Why did you not sep ut the extr power? Than you can go in more horse power en no limit on it. Than the motor wont stop on 6000 rmp. My maximum speed was 250 km than, stops. Limited.
Push the start button twice without holding break (turns on the diagnostic mode) and then press the button on the left of steering wheel that will let you choose tachometer and you can increase or decrease the red circle, mine is at 110 mph
trust ur can....I'm a police officer....they teach us how to drive on a track like that...u can actually drive with 4 fingers and not lock ur arms..or cross them...
@@thezig2078 Exhaust is the last thing to ever to in a Lexus due to cost and other more important parts can be added, such as brakes, coil overs and cold air intake parts. Like in my case I will only swap it once the old falls off. The is250 is not suitable for turbos due to the little space for compression. It is a sporty coupe, but not fully sport due to its weight and it is a bit narrower than most proper sport cars which you can highly tune the engine and have amazing gains in performance... But the is250 is a fun sporty coupe and I love it. mine is the @ is250_Sage, I am still working on it, not much on the engine can be done, I have it for the low cost, comfort, quality and fun factor., also this car is catching eyes and more after market parts are being developed, which is a plus. Pity that the engine isn't the best for engine customization but enough for what most roads allow you to drive in terms of speed...
True IS is more compact but happily my IS250 doesnt have sunroof so it gives bit more head space, Im 6ft tall and I dont feel claustrophobic. It actually feels cosy and compact inside, like you are a part of the car which I like that feeling :)

I know if I just press the TC button it doesn't turn off completley, but in my refreshed IS250 I just have to press and hold TC button to turn it off completley. Unlike 2007-2008 where you have to do the pedal dance to turn it off completley. So I was driving with TC fully off

Yes IS350 will be better. It has larger brakes for better braking. And 300HP will push the car better than IS250.
350 or 300 is rare as fuck you will be lucky to find one for a fair price

After the first IS250 refresh you dont have to do pedal dance, just hold TC button for 3 seconds so thats what I did

Pretty good for a sporty car that's not an actual sports car. IS350 probably would done a little better with more acceleration on straightaways.
Agree, IS250 especially with wide Pirelli P Zero tires it cornered so well, only thing it lacked is straight line speed

The owner that I bought Lexus from, put the steering wheel cover that really does make it look better and nicer thicker to hold
